Prayers needed, long story, sorry

I have been visiting LCF for the past month...lurking mostly, posting occasionally. I started Atkins on March 22, and have lost 11 pounds. I also joined Curves, and have been attending 3 times a week since March 21. I have lost lots of inches and already hearing people remark on my weight loss. I have tried Atkins about 5 different times in the past 6 years. My first time was my most successful. I lost down to 188 pounds when the first major crisis of my life occurred. My husband Will became sick. We spent about 2 straight months in the hospital when he developed Multiple Pulmonary Embolisms. We were blessed that he survived...he spent 13 days in ICU on a ventilator. During this time, it was discovered that he had a hole in his heart which had to be repaired because it caused 3 small strokes. We were both 30 years old at the time, with 2 daughters, ages 10 and 7. Needless to say, the stress of this time, plus the fact I was basically living at the hospital (we were over 100 miles from home) and eating restaurant food constantly saw me put all my lost weight back on plus, fifty pounds. The next few years his health was not really back to 100%, he was 100 pounds over weight and just could not seem to lose it. Then last year, his health took a nosedive. We were in the hospital 6 times over a years time...4 of those times were over 2 weeks each. He developed Crohn's disease, had a blockage in his heart, another round of pulmonary embolisms, and a case of Salmonella that we never discovered the origins. On February 9, 2006, my husband was killed in an automobile accident. I told you all the details of his health so that you can understand my anguish at losing him. After every thing he, WE, had been through, he died on the side of a highway. A woman stopped to help him, and was there when he died. She told the trooper working the wreck that she had no medical training, so she did the only thing she knew to do. Pray. She prayed outloud for God to help my husband, when he opened his eyes, looked straight at her, and spoke these words, "I know the Lord." He then died. I know that God put that woman there that day to be a witness, to give us comfort. I am asking for prayers for me and my two daughters. We have been devastated. Each day is a little better. I take comfort in knowing that Will is in heaven, that he no longer suffers. No one should have to live with the things he did. With his death, I have realized that I have got to get my weight under control. My daughters need me, they have no one else. My husband was such a good man, father, husband. He continued to work for the last 6 years, even though he had to change jobs 3 years ago to reduce the stress he was under. He was lucky that he had a boss who paid him regardless of whether he was working or laying in a hospital bed. We did struggle financially in the past years, even though we had insurance. Every year since 2000, we met our out of pocket limits. Thankfully, we bought life insurance at the age of 25, cause after the age of 30, he was uninsureable due to his health. I have such guilt over this but realize how crazy it is...I am sad because he isn't here, but he walks beside Jesus now and his body has been restored. Please pray for me and my children (now 16 and 13), and Will's mother--she has taken his death so hard. I need to learn to accept this. I need to continue to lose weight so that I can continue to be there for my children. Thanks for listening to my story.

twinkle, you are such a strong woman. I know you can do this for your family, because you are so strong. I know your husband will watch over you and will help you take care of yourself and the children

I am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I said a prayer for you and your family just now. Lots of people are going to read your post and pray, too. I pray that the Holy Spirit and angels be with you and comfort you. I know you will be okay. Your dear husband would want you to be strong and in good health for the kids' sakes, too. God bless you. Post here often, Twinkle.
