Annoying coworkers

I am sure some of you have someone they work with that asks you the same thing over and over about your WOE. My coworker asks me almost daily "will you ever eat fruit again?" or "Can't you drink coffee on Atkins?" (that easy I have never drank coffee don't like the smell of it). Or comments like "I worry about you eating all that meat" or "I have heard that Atkins can make you really sick." We are supposed to have a dinner meeting Monday night at O'Charley's or Applebee's which I am not looking forward to because she will ask why I am not eating this or that.

Any suggestions on how to get it through to her it in just not part of my WOE at this time. I have been dealing with these daily questions since October and have always answered her even though she asked me the same thing the day before.

Maybe this is her version of chinese water torture, keep asking the same questions over and over till I go crazy and shove some cake or cookie she has brought in in my mouth.

Maybe you could just hand her a copy of DANDR? or one of the follow up questions/answers books Atkins Essentials I think it's called...? Let her read it for herself and return them to you, if she starts in again with the questions I'd just hand her the book.

Or, you could start asking her the same questions over and over again about everything she puts in her mouth...

Honestly, after the first week, I probably would have let her know, in no uncertain terms, that it wasn't any of her business WHAT I ate or didn't eat...

I've had people do this to me, too. I smile sweetly and say, 'The same thing I told yesterday--nothing has changed since then.' It took them a while, but they finally stopped.

that would bug me too! If people ask questions about my diet I just answer honestly and try to change the subject. If someone asked me questions constantly it would get on my nerves!

Wow, I don't have as much patience for this sort of thing as you must have to put up with this week after week.

I'd be tempted to say something like, " Ya' know, you ask me the same questions all the time and I answer them over and over again, and yet you still don't seem to get it! Let's put our heads together and try to figure out what your PROBLEM IS!"

Hope ya don't mind if I quote you! LOL

I am beginning to think she is a few apples short of a full cart. After someone's comment today of "Don't you get tired of her asking you the same thing day after day" which of course I responded YES! She said I think maybe she is so forgetful she doesn't remember she asked you that question already today (or earlier in the day.)

When people bug me about what I am eating... I respond: 'Have I ever told you what my pet peeve is? People who ask me about what I'm eating.' Then I procede to say that I think it is kind of rude to make comments about other people's food and how I never do that.

Of course I don't have a problem 'telling it like it is' so for some people that might be tough... though... it really gets to me so I find the need to say something or I just get pissed off.

She might well be a few french fries short of a happy meal. If so, I know how annoying that can be but still we have even more of an obligation to treat them kindly. If not then or even if she is, I would try just explaining to her honestly and kindly that you would rather her not keep asking you questions, that you don't like to "focus" on the diet too much because it makes it harder and recommend the book if she would like to know more about it. Then if she brings it up, say jokingly, remember? Don't remind me about my diet and laugh. I know this might sound silly but it might work and not make her mad either. BTW, I dealt with this for the first 6 months at least when I started this WOE and now everyone just knows how I eat and leaves me alone. It will pass.

Ask her if she's been tested for Alzheimers since she has a problem with short term memory.

My mom has problems with coworkers kinda criticizing her diet. One offered her grapes and a banana and she said "no thanks" and he asked her why and she said "well i'm not really supposed to be having that right now" and he just rolled his eyes. I mean, would you offer a diabetic a chocolate bar? I think it's rude to criticise someone's choice of foods or try and "force" someone to eat something they just don't want to. seems like as soon as you say you're on a diet, everyone has an opinion. that's why i usually just keep it to myself unless i'm close to the person.
