My heart hurts
My worst fear came true yesterday. After surviving her 5 yr mark as a survivor of breast cancer, and then having a relapse(metastatic) 1.5 ago, and undergoing chemo for over a year, thought is was in remission, we took mom to the hospital Sunday and yesterday we heard the news that we never wanted to hear. My mom is very very sick, and the cancer is back and very aggressive. It has spread everywhere, and we only have a few more months left with her. I can barely breath. We had to tell the kids last night, and it was horrible. I feel like I am going to vomit. I don't know what to do.... I am so scared. Just needed a few shoulders to lean on.....

angels,
I am truly sorry. I know how hard this is... I lost my mom 2 years ago. She was my best friend and we still do not know what killed her at the young age of 58. Please, if you ever need to talk, PM me. This is going to be the hardest months that you have ever experienced. I will be praying for you and your family. |

Angels - I lost my Mom to lung cancer 3 years ago. I agree that it will be the hardest time ever for you and your family. It still hurts. My Mom was my best friend too. She had survived breast cancer and uterine cancer at 31 only to develop lung cancer (she was a lifelong smoker) in her 60's. Coincidentally, she was from KY too.
My prayers will be with you. |

This brings back awful memories for me as well. My mother survived 10 years and then it came back in her lungs. Docs treated her as it was bronchitis.
It spread everywhere as well. Is she going to do chemo again or they are not going to try anything? |

and when it happened to my mom, I was reading things on the internet and buying lots of vitamins and trying to get her to take them. She didnt like swallowing big pills such as high doses of vitamin e etc.I even bought some weird tea from canada. She wouldnt drink that either. I also read stuff about noni juice supposed to work. I was desperate to try anything.

I am very sorry for your news. A close friend is going through the same thing with her mother, who was my 2nd grade teacher. It breaks my heart to think of her going through this. Rely on your faith and you will get through this. Be blessed.

Angels, I pray that the Lord gives you and your family peace during this terribly difficult time. Like you and others that have posted here, I also lost my mother and my father to cancer. Losing my mom was like losing my arm. I understand what you're going through, and I'll be thinking of you and remembering you in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this. I lost my Mom to breast cancer too. She died at the age of 59. She was my best friend. It has been 7 years now and I still miss her everyday. I remember very well how much it hurt. I had scabs on my eyes from crying so much. I will pray for you and your family. I pray that God will give you the strength to get through this and that He will give you and your Mom peace. Cherish everyday you have with her. She is very blessed to have such a loving daughter as you and you are blessed to have such a wonderful mother as her.

Angels, I know your pain. Spend as much time as you can with her. My dad couldn't do much at the end, but I sat and watched old Mash reruns with him and slipped him chocolate. I know you aren't supposed to eat chocolate when you have cancer, but it was the end for him.
I'm sending prayers of comfort for your mom. |

My mom went 4 1/2 years after breast cancer before it came back suddenly all over her lungs, then spread to other organs.
I also had my oldest sister die of leukemia at age 23. I know it will be hard for all of you. The most important thing I learned was to just listen...if she wants to talk about death or arrangments or whatever it is, just be still and listen, and don't try to change the subject or "cheer her up." My prayers will be with all of you and also for all the others who have lost loved ones as well. |

I'm so sorry, sweetie. Your mom is truly blessed to have such a caring, loving daughter . She knows you love her. I held my mom's hand as she died, and still have the napkin that wiped away a tear that rolled down her cheek right before she passed away as she lay unconscious. I know it hurts. My prayers are with you and your family. ![]() |
