OT but prayers to all who are in the path of Katrina

Since this is the busy place I thought I'd post this here even though it's off topic. I think everyone in this hurricane's path needs prayers. It will be a catastrophic storm. Winds are 165 MPH with no sign of decreasing (according to the Miami hurricane center).

The Gulf Coast - Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama seem to be in for the worst of it, but this storm is so huge and intense, it's going to cause a lot of trouble even after it makes landfall. They expect most of the U.S. east of the Mississippi to feel its effect to one degree or another.

I used to live in NOLA, and love that city like a member of the family. I also have good friends that live there- they have all evacuated except for one friend's husband who had to stay behind b/c he works for the news channel there. She is so scared- to lose her house and her husband. I've never heard terror in someone's voice like that before- and sadly, it's not over reacting.

The city will never be the same. I'm so sad to even think it- but it seems to be true.

I used to teach in inner-city NOLA- the children/families you see piling into the superdome are the familes I taught essentially... the poor, etc... I worry for them...

I worry for all the pets that got left behind... worry is not strong enough- I know they will not survive this.

God bless all those in it's path. NOLA and surrounding areas will need lots of aid after this- Even though we have no money right now b/c we are buying a house and planning our wedding- I will do my best to contribute something... it is going to be very very bad.

I have the weather channel on and am distraught over this. I do not have any family there, so I can't imagine what those with loved ones in this storm's path must be feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
