'Starved' - New Series on FX Channel
Has anyone seen this? I watched it last night and found it very disturbing but interesting.
It was amazing to see normal attractive looking people struggle with eating disorders. I was really tripping on the black male police officer that is bulimic. How about the guy who buys the choc cake and smells them all day then puts detergent on them and trashes them. Then, when stressed out he will dig the cake out of the trash and eat the part that does not have detergent on it. Ohmygawd. I have put cleaning products on food that I did not want to eat then trashed it too. I've also used toliet water too. I have never ever gone back to get it. But I bet there are millions of normal looking people that do this daily. Any thoughts?

Disturbing is putting it mildly. There's another thread regarding this TV show. Someone posted an excerpt of the premise ... something about fascination with excrement and defecation?
I'd rather watch nothing than support this poor attempt at entertainment. Keep in mind the people are actors, which makes me afraid of the writers. |

The writer, Eric Shaeffer, has struggled with eating disorders. He calls the series "more than semiautobiographical." He also plays Sam in the series.
IMHO, there is no aspect of human life that is not worth making fun of. To err is human. |

I saw it on the FX channel (Sci-Fi). Its the same channel that shows Nip Tuck, and the fireman show with Denise Lery.

FX says it's a comedy. I wouldn't read too much real life into it. It seems to be meant to be shocking and disgusting for a laugh.

I love this show! Funny. I only take it as entertainment only. It did have some sexual overtones and dialouges and swearing that makes it inappropriate for kids or even teens imo. Thursday's "colonic" show looks hilarious!
