Argh. DH for sale. Cheap.

So... we're in the middle of moving... bought a new house with lots of remodeling going on, so DH is there, and I'm in the old house to pack.

Kitchen in the new house is almost done... just a few finishing touches. First room that I can really move stuff into & have it put away. Following me? So, I happily pack up the pots & pans, most of the dishes/silverware/tools, extra DaVinci, and my BELOVED KitchenAid mixer that I finally got last year after much wanting and waiting.

You can tell what's coming, can't you?

DH decides he wants to try making himself a Deep Dish Pizza (recipe from the board...). It's his favorite.

Fast forward to the phone ringing... "Hey! What's up?" I dumbly ask - hey, I'm happy to hear from him during the week!

He proceeds to tell me he has bad news. I figure he had a bad poker night. No such luck. He used my KitchenAid. He didn't get the head lock lever pulled forward enough, and when he turned on the mixer, it made a terrible grinding noise. Now that's all it does... the lever won't come all the way forward, and it makes a grinding noise.

On the up side, he said the house smelled great.

The *gritting teeth* dear, sweet thing couldn't even follow simple directions (spread shredded cheese out on pan, pour egg mixture over cheese) what made him think he should use my KitchenAid? Ugh.

I admit it, the news put tears in my eyes. I'm hoping when I get there this weekend it's just a simple case of "dumb male"... can handle power tools, but not kitchen appliances... and not a dead beloved mixer.

Anyway... DH for sale. VERY cheap.

*sigh*

Is he very mechanically inclined? Can he take it apart and look at it? I had something similar to a Kitchen Aid back in the day and sometimes there was this little cotter pin that would break. DH would take it apart and put a new one in and it was good to go.

I have my second KitchenAid mixer (one of the first things replaced after a house fire) but got rid of the husband. Mixers are probably more easily replaced (or fixed) than husbands!

Yeah, if I didn't love the pieces out of him, he'd have been gone a looooong time ago!

Sometimes he just makes me though! Not a dumb guy by any means... very mechanically inclined, computer engineer, super handy around the house... he can do just about anything... except, of course, use a mixer. Hey... I don't mess with his power tools - he shouldn't mess with mine. Right?

I'll keep him around though, at least he keeps me on my toes.

Hopefully it'll just be an easy fix for the mixer. Glad to hear you're keeping the DH.
