This is a place where women are FABULOUS with any frame, sexy at any size... we are Anti-FRUMP and all about being PHENOMENAL!

Mootzee asked for a repost of some information on dry skin brushing. Here ya go!

Quote:
DRY SKIN BRUSHING

It is WELL known that the Skin is the LARGEST Organ in the Body, and is responsible for one-fourth of the Body's Detoxification each day, also making it, one of the most IMPORTANT Elimination Organs! The Skin is also known as the "3rd" Kidneys and the Lungs are known as the "2nd" Kidneys. TOXICITY can gather beneath the Skin's Surface from such COMMON Influences such as IMPROPER pH levels in Body Soaps, Skin Creams and Anti-Perspirants, plus Synthetic Fibers worn NEXT to the Skin with ANY of them contributing to a variety of Skin Problems and Conditions.

When you do Skin Brushing, you HELP your Lymph System to CLEAN itself of the TOXINS, that COLLECT in the Lymph Glands. You use a Simple Technique to IMPROVE the Surface Circulation on the Skin and KEEP the Pores of the Skin OPEN, encouraging your Body's Discharge of Metabolic Wastes, and resulting in an IMPROVED ability to COMBAT Bacteria, plus HELPING your Skin to look and feel HEALTHIER and MORE RESILIENT! Skin Brushing is a PERFECT Treatment for SELF-HELP Enthusiasts.

Benefits:

TIGHTENS Skin.

HELPS Digestion.

REMOVES Cellulite.

STIMULATES Circulation.

INCREASES Cell Renewal.

CLEANS Lymphatic System.

REMOVES Dead Skin Layers.

STRENGTHENS Immune System.

IMPROVES Exchange between Cells.

STIMULATES the Glands, thus helping ALL of the
Body Systems to perform at PEAK EFFICIENCY!

How To Do:

Buy a NATURAL, NOT Synthetic, Bristle Brush, since it does NOT SCRATCH the Surface of the Skin.

Buy a Brush with a LONG Handle, so that you're ABLE to get to the Areas of your Body, that are NOT EASY to reach, when doing your own Skin Brushing.

Skin Brush, before Showering or Bathing, at least ONCE per day, and TWICE, if possible.
Do NOT wet Skin, since it will NOT have the SAME Effect, because this stretches the Skin.

ALWAYS Skin Brush towards the Heart.

Do Circular Counter-Clockwise Strokes on the Abdomen.

Do LIGHTER Strokes over and around Breasts, but do NOT Brush the Nipples.

Brush each part of the Body several times VIGOROUSLY, COMPLETELY Brushing the WHOLE Body.

Brush the Soles of the Feet FIRST, because the Nerve Endings there affect the WHOLE Body, next Brush the Ankles, Calves, and Thighs, then Brush across your Stomach and Buttocks and lastly Brush your Hands to the Arms.

Take a WARM Bath or Shower, which should always be followed by a COOL Rinse at the end to INVIGORATE Blood Circulation and STIMULATE Surface Warmth.

Wash your Brush every few Weeks in Water and let it DRY.

Thank you so much Dom, I missed this first time around. I have cronic dry skin and this sounds wonderfully invigorating as well as cleansing.

Hello Phenoms!!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today! Thanks, moke for getting us started on a new week.

Last night I used my foot spa and soaked my feet in cucumber and green tea foot soak and I gave myself a mani and a pedi while watching the finales for desperate housewives and grey's anatomy...I'm gonna miss those shows!!!

Today after work I am giving myself an aspirin facial and relaxing.

How is the weather in everyone's area? It has been in the 100's since Saturday and we've been having sporatic fires all over southern cali...as usual.

Hey Steph, it's cold and damp and raining. Tomorrow I will be playing in my (Paul's) garden in the rain. Last night I had a lovely soak in the tub with my wine and my novel.

Niki

aspirin facial: 4 or 5 aspirins dissolved with a few drops of water in a little bowl..I add about a dime size of moisturizer to the mix too and then smear on. I scrub in circular motions all over my face and neck and then let dry for about 3 or 4 minutes and rinse with water....Great exfoliator.

I have oily skin and it really controls the oil and makes your skin feel silky soft.

I may walk down to the store and pick myself up a bottle of asprin as I have yet to try this one too.

My cuticles are an absolute mess and I am trying to fix them up without my manicure equipment (which is at home), anyone have any suggestions. I've used olive oil to moisturize and push them back. I have them cut fairly short now, so I am just going to use a clear polish on them.

I ordered this cuticle softener/conditioner from avon...because I have the worst cuticles on my finger nails. I'll let you know how that works.

Also, my nails are so soft and they split and chip constantly...what clear polish do you use? I need clear polish that doesn't chip quick and provides a strong cover for my nails.

I got something called nutra shield. I think any one that strengthens would work. It was like $7 Cdn a bottle, so hopefully it comes through for me. Let me know how the Avon works out.

Hi Everyone!
I'm glad to see "Dominique's" new forum and I will be here to glean all beauty tips, etc..
Question: How much are beauty shop costs in your area? Last week I had my roots dyed, about 6 foils put in for highlights, a super-conditioner and a trim for my locks. I also had a half leg wax and moustache and brows waxed. My total bill was $90--$115 with tip. What would the same thing cost in your neck of the woods?

I am having a pedicure and acrylics on Thursday and that will come to $60.
This upkeep gets expensive.

Oh and Saturday I will get an airbrushed "tan" for $35.
But, boy will I LOOK good!

My garden is officially open for all sorts of shenanigans and I have a huge rack of wine. Let's party!

Good morning lovelies!

While in the shower I did a scrub on my face for the first time in a while. I didnt really look at my face much, but I went to do my hair and saw me and thought..hmmmmmmmmmmm. My skin looks REALLY good!

So I did my hair and I got dressed and I kept looking at my skin... I dont even need makeup today. It looks so fresh and the tone is so even! I'm so happy!

I've been sucking down the water as part of LFL and I think that scrub did wonders for me.

I have only been to a salon once since I've been here, and I don't get the same services you do but I usually drop about $100, no matter what service I get. It seems to add up quickly.

Moke, I wish I could say my skin looked good! Even when I was overweight it was my skin that bothered me the most. I have breakouts that I cannot stand and the only thing that really helped was The Pill. Problem is that The Pill turns me into a depressed beyotch! Not worth it to me...so I suffer. I'm hoping having a baby next year will change all that! *End of rant*

Hello Ladies!!!

Niki you're not alone with the skin problems. When I was a teenager I use to think that when I became an adult I wouldn't have to worry about this stuff anymore. No one told me about adult acne I agree with Moke, the more water I drink and the more consistent I am with it the better my skin looks. All hail Water!!!!

Lin,...can't halp you with the salon prices...My mom and my sister are both cosmetologist so we have a barter system going on when it comes to getting mine and my daughter's hair done. As for nails...my sister gets a mani and pedi for about 40-45 bucks and she wears acrylics too.

Has anyone seen the new Carl's Jr. ad with Paris Hilton? I was shocked...I thought it was totally innappropriate. Again, another warped and twisted way to make young girls feel insecure about their bodies and acknowledgement that only scantily clad women are attractive and wanted by men
What are your thoughts?

Nancy, how fun! Did you two have a nice time?

My daughter told me about the commercial, she's 17 and she said it was like a porn video. She said she had to do a double take and then just shake her head. I saw it over the weekend and I had to pull my jaw up off the floor.

Woohoo on the aspirin ...tell me what yah think? I still have to get a dry brush. But, I do use wash gloves in the shower that exfoliate too. I love them. I don't have to use near as much lotion on my skin since using them.

Steph I usually have cronic dry skin in the winter cause my showers (in the morning) and baths (in the evening where I shave and read and enjoy a glass of wine) are so hot. But now that it is spring, the dryness is continuing. I use a mitt too, but maybe this extra will help.

Gonna start to work on my cuticules...............I'll let you know about the aspirin when I do it in the morning.
