Pagan & Alternative Spirituality, Wk of 4/25/05

Starting this thread off, I would like to wish everyone LOVE!
Love one another!
When given the choice of disliking someone or loving them... CHOOSE LOVE!

Blessed Be Everyone!

PS.... Since May is just around the corner....!!!!

The Lusty Month of May
From Camelot the musical

Tra la, it's May, the lusty Month of May
That lovely month when everyone goes blissfully astray
Tra la, it's here, that shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts merrily appear

It's May, It's May, that gorgeous holiday
When every maiden prays that her lad will be a cad
It's mad, it's gay, alive, a lust display
Those dreary vows that everyone takes, everyone breaks
Everyone makes divine mistakes
The Lusty Month of May

Whence this fragrance wafting through the air?
What sweet feelings does it's scent transmute?
Whence this perfume floating everywhere?
Don't you know, it's that dear forbidden fruit

It's May, the lusty month of May
That darling month when everyone throws self-control away
It's time to do a wretched thing or two
And try to make each precious day one you'll always rue

It's May, it's May, the month of "Yes, you may"
The time for every frivolous whim, proper or im-
It's wild, it's gay, depraved in every way
The birds and bees with all of their vast amorous past
Gaze at the human race aghast
The Lusty Month of May

Tra la, it's May, the lusty Month of May
That lovely month when everyone goes blissfully astray
Tra la, it's here, that shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts merrily appear

It's May, it's may, the month of great dismay
when all the world is brimming with fun, wholesome or un-
It's mad, it's gay, alive a lust display
Those dreary vows that everyone takes, everyone breaks
Everyone makes divine mistakes
The Lusty Month of May

Let's hope the "lusty month of May" is a little kinder in the weather department! We've gone from 70s to snow and back in 3 days here. UGH!

Did anyone see or do anything for the full moon on Sunday? I went out & had a little lovefest... just watching the little clouds cover & uncover it, feeling the cool (well, OK, downright chilly, but I didn't care) breezes blow past. It was a beautiful, bright moon. I always have loved the moon & stars.

I went to bed early on Sunday night, but Saturday night I enjoyed the most wonderful presentation of MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM (that was April 23rd, Shakespeare's birthday night!)!!!

If anyone is in Orlando this week it's the last week... Try to go and see it at Lake Eola! (we might just go back this Saturday night! It was that good!)

Little Shakespeare trivia...
if you open your KJV bible, and go to the 46th psalm, count from the beginning 46 words note the word... then count from the end, 46 words back into the psalm and note that word! what did you get???

btw:
Shakespear was born April 23rd in 1564 and he died April 23rd in 1616. Exactly 46 years apart!!!

for some more interesting stuff:

Merry Meet!

Of course you're welcome to join in... seems we're a little quiet this week.

I was so excited when I saw your siggie, and then read your other post... wish I had something constructive to offer! Blessings to you and the babies, no matter how any of it works out.

I was writing in my diary last night. I feel the springtime is more my New Year than the one on the calendar. Not sure if it's the rebirth of the Earth becoming alive and green once again or maybe it's the longer days of sunlight easing my SAD blues away, but I suddenly feel more energized and hopeful for the future. I'm ready to shed that coccoon of heavy bulky clothes for winter and slip into something more light and airy for spring. If I had to choose a time of the year to celebrate, this would be it.

Has anyone listened to WHEN LOVE SPEAKS (it's a CD of Shakespeares Sonnets done by a variety of British artists)..... I just love Sonnet 130...it's so unusual and ... real?

So I thought I would share...

SONNET 130
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

You can hear it (and others) at http://www.whenlovespeaks.com (go to downloads and select Alan Rickman)

I was thinking about the 3-fold law.... What ever you do comes back to you 3-fold, good or bad.... of course there is also the question of what is evil? There are some who believe that there is no true evil, just varying degrees of good, since evil causes conflict, conflict causes change, and one has to have change in order to grow.....

Why am I thinking this?

Cause it seems like I have always been kicked around (emotionally) when all I try to do or say is 'the right thing' ... I don't think that divorce should be the first answer to an argument, I don't think that it's always the man's fault, I do believe in love, I don't believe in judging other peoples choices.... on and on... My Personal Motto that I try to live by is: When given the choice between smiling or frowning, choose to smile; when given the choice between forgiving and hating, choose to forgive; when given the choice between love and hate, choose to LOVE;

and yet I keep getting kicked around (emotionally speaking) .... It's like the world has decided Individually that everyone has to agree with them individually or else they are underserving of consideration.

it's a not a new lesson for me... just one I haven't passed yet! I can hardly wait till I do.. this one has been going on for years, so I know the reward will be great!!!

I challenge everyone here to SMILE at everyone you meet, say HELLO to someone that you wouldn't normally talk to, THANK the cashier, the waiter, and any other service person you come into contact today and tell them what a GOOD JOB they are doing - even if you have to work hard to find that! DO NOT ARGUE and try not to say ANYTHING NEGATIVE today...
OOHH I forgot one, try to do something nice for someone, but they can't know it was you, and they can have no way to say thank you... (now that one's a hard one!)
Then get back to me tomorrow and tell me if you think the 3 fold rule applied to you or not!!!

Sometimes I just look people right in the eye, shake my head and laugh at them, cause I just cannot believe the negative attitude that they have...

No one can make you happy or sad... those are personal choices... CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY!

Merry Meet
and
Merry Part
Blessed Be
from my heart!

Red, I'm been lurking on your thread and find your philosphy welcoming, especially during such a very difficult year.

Red, in keeping with your reducing drama theme, lol, an old friend told me there are two key steps, the first of which is easy:
A. stop tossing bombs. The second is far more difficult but absolutely crucial:

B. stop responding when they're tossed at you.

It's a challenge but seems to be making an impact in my life these days.

Mootzee, I think of Spring as more of my New Year, too because of things being renewed and reborn. It's more of a personal and spiritual revelation than the western January date.

I am confused at your response....
I rarely if ever 'toss bombs'
although I will fight for love and what's right
normally I forgive and leave rather than fight (which is probally why I am an easy target for some people, but I don't want to waste my time lowering myself nor attract negativity)
BUT... I am still waiting for the wonderful 3 fold back!!! although I have to say that I am truly blessed, for the most part, in my life... i have so much more than I deserve or statistically should have... So I guess I am 3 fold ahead of the game!

Red, I was quoting my friend in terms of how *I* functioned, not you. But comparing the philosophy of choosing the positive over the negative and releasing the negativity when it is thrown at me rather than catching it and returning it to the sender.

Does that make sense?
