did Judy say Christmas? 2 weeks ago I walked into Macy's to Christmas decorations! Slow down freight train of life, let's see a nice slowdown of life

Still under 200 this AM, I am happy. I did sit here last night thinking that I am happy this is working and already tired of weighing, measuring, logging and all the prep that goes into eating whole foods. But, will continue on, might take a little break from logging, I think I know what to eat and can eyeball the portions as long as I basically eat meat, eggs and LC veggies. Where is my Chef? I used to think it must be hard for rich people not to get fat as they could go out to eat at the best restaurants all the time, but now realize that they learn to just eat less and don't feel guilty about not cleaning their plates, and, they have people who shop and cook for them. So, based on that realization, I have decided to live the rest of my life as a rich person. Haven't discussed with DH as yet

Oh, guess you all heard that our city of Dallas has the first confirmed case of Ebola in the U.S. Officials had press conference yesterday and tried their best to assure people it is under control and that they fear the flu more . A friends DD works in a branch of the hospital the person was admitted to, says people are swarming to ER rooms, crazy. Officials very tight lipped on details about patient and who all he has been in contact with, had recently returned from a trip to Africa.

Yes I have heard so much reporting on that case, but nothing new except that it's happened....
Makes me want to go into "prepper" mode! LOL!

Simmering down now...

Hi, I found my way here. I think I'm down a tiny bit for the month but I'll take every tiny bit I can.

Ebola!! That's very worrisome. Now that my DGD is a real life nurse working in a big city hospital I worry about what all she's going to be exposed to. Hopefully most pregnant women won't be too dangerous.

Oh dear. I hadn't heard about the Ebola in Dallas. Yikes..

We do have to think rich and not shove food in our mouths all the time. Portion control.

Sandy yes I forgot about your cute smart DGD nursing (AND CINDY!!)
Wash wash wash wash wash

Not that it helped the docs who were infected...

Oh holy moly. And the Ebola person has had close contact with 4 Dallas school children!
Hope I'm getting wrong information.
So of course I'm reporting it!

Hearing that the 4 children are infected but not sure if truth or rumor. Scary times.

Congrats to all losers and maintainers.

OH gosh are you really hearing that???

I've heard doctor after doctor telling us we simply cannot get Ebola unless we are touching the infected person's grossest bodily fluids. It's not like the cold or flu, they say.

I sure hope those kids are not infected.

Just turned news on this morning so haven't heard yet if the kids are confirmed cases. Ok, news just said:

5 kids of the girlfriend that the man from Liberia moved in with came in contact with the man as he started showing symptoms. They went to 4 different Dallas schools and attended Mon. And Tues. are being kept home now and being monitored. None have been confirmed as yet of having been infected. Kids and their parents in those schools very concerned of course. Worrisome

I am wondering how that man has so much contact with so many kids from so many different schools! I'd have to have a coordinated method for coming in contact with so many kids for one thing, and so many different schools for another.

Uh oh Buffy.
You and I are a little too close in our fear-mongering.

Judy, they were all kids of his girlfriend, just different ages so went to 4 different neighborhood schools. From watching CNN this morning, it really disturbs me at how hospital seems to have handles this at first and CDC. The girlfriend is staying in her apartment but says she has not been instructed on how to dispose of sheets, towels, etc! Just said that GF was sleeping in same bed with him as his symptoms started.

Right. This might be different than AIDS the way it is contracted. Cuz kids with AIDS can still attend school cuz it is bodily fluids with open wounds or cuts. They really downplayed the AIDS contraction. They are not downplaying this at all. Maybe they can learn how this man contracted it. Scary and sad.

Lady, throw the sheets away.

He says he helped carry a body, or a still-living person with the virus.

Carolyn did you have a lot of rain? We sure did! I got 2.5".
It was just great until I had to go driving in it.

Still just that one infected patient, just hoping none of the others contracted it.

Let's hope it just that one guy. But I would worry about touching sweaty sheets.

Heading up to Manhattan mid morning. I think it will be cool at the 6 pm game.

Have fun!

We went to the fair again last night. I avoided the huge apple dumpling DH and DD ate to combat DH's very low blood sugar. I tore off most of the cornbread from my yummy corn dog.
But ate lots of fried pickles and French fries. Worth it!!!!

DH took a shot while at the fair and we walked A LOT. But DH's blood sugar was 458 when we got home. Anybody who has been type 1 for a lifetime knows that old seesaw ... this morning he was 33. A little toast and coffee and he's back with us! :-)

He's got a lot of incentive to even out. I think he and DS are playing golf today. What a good advertisement for low carb! Can't begrudge someone wanting the forbidden foods once or twice a year after a lifetime of darn good discipline. Well, MOSTLY good! :-)

Morning!
Haven't turned on news yet!
Oh Judy, Beau so deserved that treat, he has had to deal with this for so many years. I would gladly trade my type 2 to Grant for his type 1, so young to get it. Just really think there will be something discovered or perfected though to help all theses young people getting diabetes. Wake up world, quit feeding and eating sugar! It is killing us!

Went to see Gone Girl yesterday, good movie. What could not be good with Ben in it?

Beautiful fall weather here, enjoy your day Carolyn.

Happy that each day the scale is barely under 200 but ready for another drop so I feel a little more secure at not seeing 200 again. Took nuts and 90% Lindt yo movie. Walked into movie to the smell of burnt popcorn , that sure helped with that desire . Went to earliest movie, the loyalty program wasn't working, the popcorn was burnt, only had 1 guy working concessions with a manager trying to help while cleaning up popcorn mess, then movie didn't start until 20 minutes wait! This is a big, busy AMC theater, whoa!

I've been busy with company all week, they left just before 8 am. LOVED it here. Funny. They're from Pleasant Hope, Missouri. Quite the heavy, cute accent. The DH is a farmer & hasn't been away from the farm too many times. Nice people, we enjoyed our time with them & they both pitched in & helped a lot.

I'm not feeling too good, my adrenal medicine ran out & the Naturopath didn't have any of the stuff she wants me to take... I am on a half-dose for 6 days, because I had some on hand, otherwise I'd be totally out. Its not good, because my adrenals start going nuts & then I don't feel good. But I did discover that laying down for a few minutes helps. Meds supposed to be here some time this week. I sure hope so!!

Hope you are all doing well & have a super Sunday!

Hi gang!!

Fun weekend in Manhattan! Wildcats won so that was double fun!! I was bad, but now I am good.

Boy, Judy, your dh enjoyed the fair!! Yummy. Glad he is back with you. It is a seesaw. Alex's blood sugar goes from 180 down to 50 with .50u over a 24 hour period. For a diabetic cat, below 150 is good.

I did have pizza after the game at the Pizza Shuttle, near the Engineering Building. We saw the plans for the new one Sandy's dh is building. It is going to be beautiful.

Hoping your meds come in this week and your adrenals settle down, Debbie.

Thanks gals. Tonight's way better than yesterday! Funny, because today met with a lot more stress... somehow I got through it... kept taking my homeopathic stress stuff & it was fine!
I'm hoping the meds come in soon, but half expecting it to be around Thursday.
Wow, Mary Kay!! You look fabulous in your picture!! Dressed up for that wedding? Very nice.
Good night all, Monday's 'a' coming!

Learn more about us all the time! Sandy, is your DH an engineer, construction person, ???

We have a golf course job this week in Texas, will send the guys out tomorrow, mother will be back Friday! Yay, we don't have many jobs amply more so this is very welcome. At 73, DH isn't up to that much work but this is nice bc of cooler weather. We mostly just have a few small jobs here and there. Helps with the retirement income!

May go get a cooked chickie today, I like the ones at Boston market better than our grocery stores
