Ok, in a very small nutshell, the show was about what people who live to be 90+ years old have in common and talks about a lot of things we've all assumed were good to do or not do and how there effect on our longevity.
Now if that doesn't peak your interest, I don't know what will, lol. It really is very interesting.

Judy, you sound like me. I tell people I really don't like "fishing", I only like "catching". So I guess I'm not a true fisherwoman.
We are going again tonight or tomorrow night though with our "expert" friend, so I'll share those results with you all later.

I"m off to Topeka today to meet all my gal pals for lunch! I'm excited to see them!

Hi gals...

Judy, wow if you saw an otter. . I used to see a biggish brown animal each morning by the creek. He looked like a beaver without the flat tail. Nature is amazing when you see it up close.

Will find that segment on 60 minutes. We forgot to watch it Sunday night.

I am so not a fisher person. I admire you gals.

Have fun in Topeka today. I never go there shopping, but they have so many stores and the mall is nice once you figure out how to get in there!!!

Oh Sandy I'm glad I was lazy and asked you to clarify.
I sort of kind of checked the 60 minutes shows recently and saw a report on the Gulf oil spill follow-up and thought.... Only if Sandy says it's riveting.

I'm so happy for you to have lunch with your gal pals!! Have fun!

You know, I thought the same thing, Carolyn, that it could have been a beaver, which I've seen several. But it wasn't big enough and obviously the tail wasn't right. It was about 2/3 the length of the body? roughly? and furry tail. I'm sticking with my story. HA HA! I've never seen river otters, which we are supposed to have here (although... Grand Lake is certainly not a river..) but sea otters are BIG. This was like... cat-sized? But not a cat.

More Nature Walks with Judy

I suppose this isn't SO odd, but I thought it was cute.

Looked out my kitchen window to the backyard - I like to keep an eye on the robin's nest with 3 ugly little heads that pop up when the parents come to feed them.

I saw a rabbit chasing a squirrel for several seconds. I think they were playing. I don't know what else it would be. After a little, the squirrel went UP and the bunny stayed in its place for awhile, but shortly moved on.
I often wonder why the hawk population hasn't tripled due to the amount of available bunny...

Wow. My nature walk took a dark turn. Sorry.

Just got home from my lunch. I went early to go to Kohl's so my lunch trip ended up being about $140 more than usual, lol. Topeka really wasn't a bad drive; I might have to go again and check out their mall.

Judy, you're not going to believe this but Sat. night as we were leaving the lake we saw an animal swimming in the water that looked like an otter. I don't think there was a river close to where we were fishing but I don't think it was a beaver. There weren't any trees around close either. Odd that we both saw one within a few days of each other.

I took Bailey to doggie daycare again today and asked them to kennel her for a nap so she would know about that part next week when she goes to spend the night there. They've told me both times that she did very well. I doubt they tell people otherwise though since they make a living from you bringing your dogs there, right? It sure is nice to have it close for a just in case event though.

Well... maybe it's the right time of year to see otters!
How neat, though, that you saw it.
I just think a beaver is unmistakable.

Congrats on your shopping trip!

Good thinking on getting Bailey used to the kennel.

Love the otter stories.

Bailey is spending the night away from home????? I'm sure she will be fine. Alex is going to be home by himself next week. My friend Amy is coming to feed him, clean the box, and give him a tiny shot.

Yes, Topeka is about 45 minutes from Manhattan. We stay there for games.

All of a sudden wishing I was much much closer to Carolyn and her food-giving abilities...

We are home and not expecting to see otters. Maybe that's the problem!
Had lunch today with my mom and a couple of her friends. I am pretty sure I am 80+ in a 56-yr-old body. They are funny gals.

Will go out of town to work tomorrow. Back tomorrow evening.

I cooked my brains out at the lake - now not so motivated. Poor husband. I need to just decide on a couple of things and just make them.

Tonight my mother, my SS and I will join several other mothers & daughters to practice for a little mother/daughter song on mother's day at church. Wish us luck as I think we might be the only altos...

Ok, we went fishing again tonight and were told that what we saw was a beaver after all. We never saw him out of the water so never saw the tail so I must believe them as they've had beavers in that cove around that marina for years!

We caught 58 crappie!! I say we quite freely as I only caught ONE of those crappie and DH caught about 4-5. But the other guys made up for our inadequacy. They are so nice to us.

If I hadn't seen the tail of my otter, I wouldn't stick with it!

Thanks for the pic MK!

Hi just peeking in.

Friday is my in home PT's last day. She's letting my doctor know so he can start me into out care PT. I'll be doing that 3 x's a week for a month. She got me on my stationary bike and now has me on half rotations. She was glad to see 90 degree bend for my knee range at 2 weeks. It sure feels better to have those staples removed now. Ha.

Hi all! Getting ready for the show this weekend. Am hoping the weather holds out. Sharon, so glad your rehab is going well!! Sandy, I'm coming to your house for a fish fry! You did keep them, correct? The only time I catch and release is when it is illegal to keep them!

I mixed the BTF mix (unsweetened) with lemon-pepper marinade, garlic powder and onion powder, dredged our crappie in egg, then the BTF and fried in coconut oil.
Man oh man that was good.
All of you are welcome!

Hi ladies!!

Sharon, glad you are getting along so nicely!!! Staples do hurt but hold you together nicely.

Best of luck at your show this weekend. We love to see the pictures of Chakka and you.

Sandy, you need your fishing tv show!! Wowza!!

Dh is back on the diet. Lol. No more Braums! His blood work wasn't terrible, but his HDL was 144. He just needs to lose 20 or so pounds which will keep me on track too. Of course next week is vacation, but he knows how to eat.

Ladies coming over at 9.

I would SO watch the Sandy fishing show!!

Good luck Cindy & Chakka!

I wish my DH was motivated to eat the way I eat. It would make it nicer for me.
He mostly does eat the way we eat, just isn't as strict.

Carolyn when you go to the gym do you do the slow burn? I was listening to a podcast of JM & Fred Hahn yesterday that almost motivated me to open the DVDs I bought a long time ago. Or at least dust them.

My dh doesn't eat the way I do either. He doesn't think anyone does! He's probably right.
We're having gorgeous weather here. Temps in the 60's. Nice to get out & soak up some vit. D.

Hey, did you gals see what Dr. Oz is recommending now? forskolin I looked it up & it would be very good for lots of health conditions and thyroid too... I see they sell it here on Netrition too. Have any of you tried it?

Hi ladies

I have been slacking off slow burn, but need to get back to it. Really. When I go to the gym we do a 2 mile walk with Leslie Sansone or the Curves routine. I don't kill myself.

I have never used Forskolin. Sounds interesting. My brother probably already got some. He is a Dr. Oz fan.

Getting ready for our Nashville trip. I imagine that there are a lot if jeans around there. Dh figured it was a 12 hour trip including my bathroom stops. Lol.

Hoping Cindy is having a nice day for her show.

I have a Wedding Shower this afternoon. Mandi registered at the local hardware and wanted some nice baking pans. The ones we all should have bought when we set up housekeeping. So, I got her a few. She is a good cook, so I know she will use them.

My goal is to lose weight on vacation. Hold me to it, girls. The only time I lost weight was when we went to Quebec City ( love this place) and we walked up and down hills all day long.

I lost 2 pounds on my Tucson trip, I think because I wasn't cooking and didn't have all "my" food available. I guess I am really committed to low carb, and any excess I wish to have goes to some sort of protein (cheese or turkey sticks or something like that). I simply am not tempted otherwise. But I am NOT skinny.

I KNOW you can do this. What a great way to start off your trip - knowing you'll be healthy! Will you drive all 12 hours at once?

Hi Ladies!

Yesterday was my last day with pt Cindy. I will miss her. She was so nice. Monday I'll be going to out patient pt clinic. My goals now are to walk around our block, do 5 min. half rotations on my stationary bike and lunges.

I had my first outing at our Trader Joe's. Dh was happy as I knew were everything was so he didn't have to hunt down someone to ask. Haha! It sure felt good to stroll around that store.

We are heading out now for my first walk of the day. Have a nice day to everyone.

Yes, we will drive all at once, Judy.. Early morning start on Monday after Alex has his shot/food/frozen food/two litterboxes, etc..Feliway, etc..My friend will give him his
shot each day, so it will keep him from getting overboard on the BG.

Had dinner with dh and ds in Bartlesville..Nice prime rib..Ds gave me a $50 Starbucks card for my trip.. Have to wait until we hit Joplin to use it..LOL.
