Good morning. Bad News Bears for me. I am up 3 pounds this month. Hmmm? Fewer trips to the gym?? LC bagels??? I will have to tighten up and hut it hard as I don't like where I am headed. ( just had a bagel). Lol. Well, starting now. :)

Anyone else??

Keeping Phil in my prayers and thoughts. Maybe MK will pop in

Check in later after I go to the gym.

Buffy45 04-01-2014 06:56 AM

Morning!

Seriously??? It is April?? This is not a joke?? Wow, where does time go?

Am starting to really get serious about cleaning up the patio area and getting ready to plant my pots with flowers, etc. I really haven't done anything yet but my mind is out there working, looked at petunias at walmart yesterday, just haven't convinced body yet to get moving :p

Yes Judy, you have an amazing memory, Grant is my Aspergers grandson! very advanced in learning but less advanced than some in his street smarts, which we love about him but worry a little about him out there with other kids who might influence him in the wrong way. We have such a strong bond that I don't worry about being replaced, I can't think anything can ever break that ;)

Sharon, keep us updated on what you and your Dr. Decide to do on your knee. When I went through security at airport, they asked if I had any new knees or hips? Would have gone through a different line if so  nope, sane okie creaky ones so far :hyst:

We are starting tornado season, time of year to pay attention to alerts.

Back to limiting carbs and guess what, I think? I am starting to feel a little more energy :jumpjoy: so far kind of just doing it the CAD style. DD #1 who now has type 1 diabetes is reading all she can about glucose control and has tons of info to share about different levels of carbs, etc. has finally become convinced that the low fat craze was so damaging, now eating only good natural fats and amazed how satisfying it is.

:high5:

JMCM1 04-01-2014 08:01 AM

Carolyn maybe that 3 pounds is just today. Do you weigh every day? I confess I don't.
Only every couple of weeks, which might not be optimal. You are so good about being "clean" in your eating when you want to be - I'm sure you'll get back where you want to be.

Oh Buffy, I didn't think about influences from others and of course you all are right to think that way. And of course nothing can break the bond of his dear grandmother!

And my "good" memory sure forgot that your DD#1 is now type 1. I'm going to email you a link to a video of a kid who's managing his type 1 with high fat, low carb. I emailed it to my DH and his type 1 cousin (I love her - you all would too) just so they can see how the kids today have all these super duper tools available.

I admit I am more than a little excited that you are getting back on the low carb wagon. It was thrilling before, but I am SO glad you are taking it easy and not going to extreme.

Carolyn we had a little hail yesterday evening and some welcome rain. I hear the Kansas border may have hail today/this evening. Hold on tight!

MK you are in our prayers!

Fit2010 04-01-2014 08:43 AM

No foolin' - I'll be losing this month!!
194 this AM. :p
Began with 40 gm protein in protein shake. :hiya:
Bought rotisserie chicken last PM and lots of other protein, including jerky.
Gotta get rid of these flabby/cottage cheese arms for shorter sleeved weather!!

Shalbrihil 04-01-2014 09:16 AM

April Fool's Day! :D

This year is flying by isn't it. Rain found us finally yesterday and we had some nice downpour. There was some ease up times fortunately for the dogs to go out for there relief. it's still raining today and I'm hearing until Wed. It's so nice to have that blessing of rain. :)

Well I went a head and had my pumpkin spice omm before I thought of getting my weight this morning. Will see what it says tomorrow morning and put it down then. Thursday is my appt. I'm a little scared. :(

CarolynF 04-01-2014 09:22 AM

Hi gals!!

Protein in the am is supposed to be sooo important. I do need to get more protein then.

Sharon, we will be praying for you on Thursday. Knowledge is always best and knees don't correct themselves. Unfortunately.....

sjl330 04-01-2014 03:40 PM

Unfortunately, I was the same this month. Still up. Ugh. Maybe this will be my month.

CindyCRNA 04-01-2014 05:56 PM

I'm sure I'm the same. And we had a lot of salt today. I will weigh Sat morning!

CarolynF 04-01-2014 05:58 PM

Okay!!! This can be OUR month to lose!!! :)

DebbyL 04-01-2014 06:17 PM

I too am the same. Very happy to be there though, as I was up almost 4 lbs. for taking ibuprofen for 3 weeks, its finally gone! :) Took exactly 3 weeks.

Things are melting nicely here, have a few spots in the field that are "starting to show melting spots." :)

Going to yet another meeting in a few...

Hope you all have a good evening. :friends:

JMCM1 04-01-2014 06:30 PM

Not interested in what I weigh just now. LOL

TuscanGirl 04-01-2014 06:36 PM

hi!

Yes - Monday was a LONG day. Luckily I had lots of friends stop by and stay with me in the waiting room - we were THAT group - laughing and talking too loudly ..... but they kept my mind off of why I was there, and for that I was really grateful!

Surgery started at 9:15am and it was after 6:00pm before he was finished.

The doc was REALLY excited about the new bladder and said everything looked really good.

Today he was sitting up in a chair (not liking it, but doing it)!
He looked better this evening than this morning.
So hopefully each day will get better.

And he's blowing into his breath thing - I told him it was REALLY important! :D

I weighed 105.2 - last year I weighed 123!

sjl330 04-01-2014 08:11 PM

Glad to hear all is going well MK. Will keep him in my prayers.

Judy, you are so funny!! Love it!

Hello to everybody. I think we're going to have storms tonight and tomorrow. I hope it's not severe or tornados. Yikes!!

DebbyL 04-01-2014 09:51 PM

:hugs: Mary Kay

CarolynF 04-02-2014 06:26 AM

Good morning!!

Oh, MKay, what a long day!!! Great news on the new bladder. How amazing that medical science can do that!!! I'm sure he feels so sore and all those incisions. Every day will get better I'm sure!!! 18 pounds!!! Wow.

Rain today. I guess we need it. The farmer are always crying about the weather. Lol.

Meeting a friend for coffee this morning. Fun times!!!

JMCM1 04-02-2014 06:47 AM

Good report MK. Gosh what a day. How wonderful your friends were there for you /with you. Have they said how long they expect Phil to stay in hospital? Might be too soon to know. Can be exhausting running back and forth ...
Does the new bladder work immediately? I hope that's not insensitive ... I am amazed and grateful it is possible!

We'll have storms today too. Hang on everybody!

Shalbrihil 04-02-2014 08:41 AM

Still raining here in California. Boy do we need this. Last night poor little fur guys held it all night. Looks like we will be having the downpours until tomorrow at least.

Weighed this morning. 275

Buffy45 04-02-2014 09:34 AM

Morning!

Really happy to see MKs report and to know she had such good friends to help her through a long day.

Hoping we get some rain this week but not bad storms.

Taking Grant for allergy shot after school tomorrow and then to a Chinese buffet that I was told had great crab legs, we will see. Love crab legs.

For years I weighed myself every single day, now maybe once a week, my goal, health and feel good and comfort, aging changes all.

Who mentioned upper arms, shudder :sick::down::help:

Fit2010 04-02-2014 09:49 AM

:hiya: MK I am SO happy for all this good news!! (And it's suck in/not blow out into the incentive spirometer ;)--just think, inhale to open up all those alveoli down deep in the lungs to prevent pneumonia) I hope he is taking his pain meds around the clock. That is a big surgery!

:jumpjoy: Did okay yesterday...and woke up this AM not feeling all the bloating feeling of too many carbs :D So had another high protein shake this AM (nearly 40 gms).

JMCM1 04-02-2014 12:08 PM

Debbie, I predict the way you feel will become addictive.
You'll eventually plan so well to eat low carb, because the feeling otherwise won't work for you. Or I hope you feel that way - I sure do.

I think Cindy said that those of us who are insulin resistant work very well with low carb eating. Others like Cindy herself, and Mary Kay are probably not insulin resistant and probably never will be. But those of us who are more affected by carbohydrates will benefit from carbohydrate restriction for sure.
Also too much protein can be harmful as well.

Buffy I hear you. I am not at a perfect weight, but I keep seeing pictures of myself and I like the pictures of myself (VAIN!!!!!!), so trying to achieve the perfect weight seems like a big emotional drain to me. How many years have I hated my pictures??

I want to feel and be healthy. If I have a few extra lbs. I'll just carry those.

OH MY GOSH you all - I now belong to so many facebook low carb support groups I have no idea whether my "real" facebook account or my "fake" facebook account is in this one, but I think it's the real one because maybe I saw Carolyn was in this FB group.

Anyway, one of the people posted a picture of a McDonald's double meat & cheese burger and said if you didn't have a lot of time or money, this wasn't a bad alternative.
She was immediately answered by another poster who said, "all fast food is chemical and cra*".
Original Poster said, "no it's not. It's beef and cheese. I throw away the bun."
Arguing Poster said, "NO. It's not even beef! It's all bad for you because it's fast food!"
OP said, "no, it's 100% beef and cheese."

Maybe another arguing post, then the OP said,
"I can't always afford to eat virgin unicorn burger washed in the tears of free-range, fair trade pixies. Sometimes I need something quick and cheap with the highest nutrient count possible."

HOW FUNNY IS THAT???
:hyst:

sjl330 04-02-2014 12:44 PM

That is so funny and is also exactly how I feel a whole lot of the time!!! Balance!!! is my key word. When I'm following the plan well. When I'm not....I won't even tell you what the key word is then, lol.
