MK you were spot on.
She is genetically predispositioned (as am I) to loving peanut butter. She does eat peanut butter & bananas! And said she ate a lot of chicken noodle soup when the pain was greatest in her gut!

She's already better - very little bleeding, and much less discomfort.

Yay!! Those are all very stomach friendly foods.
Check out a Low Fod Map Diet in your choice of search engines . . . it will give you lots of foods that are easy on your gut!
Or IBS friendly foods - same thing!

Glad I could help. I eat a lot of peppermint candy - it stops the intestinal contractions. I also just bought some enteric coated peppermint capsules that are supposed to do the same thing.

My nephew has Crohn's.
I hope as she heals she can eat better for the longer term.
I guess we are really looking for miracles, here.
In the short-term, I think she's doing pretty well.

Hello, good morning to all!

Morning!
Wow, lots of good/great posts while I was gone, love you gals.

Carolyn, I can now fly non stop from Dallas to Grand Island, NE which is about one hour from DDs so have done that last 2 trips. As cheap as driving with the price of gas and nobody thinks I should drive it these days.

Had wonderful tine at her house with her family and never got cold, in fact was too warm most of the tine, she is very cold these days so heat was turned up. Had one on one tine with both granddaughter 21 and grandson 20 and they will "talk" to me, whom they refer to as crazy Grandma so we talked a lot about things in their lives, I really felt some sadness that I have not lived close to them like I do the kids here in TX. Especially my GS, a very very bright young man who I'm afraid has inherited the family depression that many of my family suffers from. His parents kind of discourage meds for it but aren't totally against it, since I have used meds for it with great success, I talked to him a lot about being pro active in getting back to some help and to not give up if the first med isn't the right one. I realize that I need to really stay in touch with him and help him do this. I felt like he really needed to talk to someone and I know from experience that when you are depressed, it is soooo hard to stay pro active in seeking the right dr and meds, after one or two don't work, you scurry back to your place of despair and feel there isn't help out there. Really made me want to be able to see him often and help him.

Otherwise, all fun and good times. DD and I went to see Monuments Men and now want to read the book.

Judy, baby shopping is very fun, sooooooo many choices. One place DD takes Bobby and Ava for pictures has beautiful clothing available to use for the pictures, things they might not wear often enough to purchase but makes for stunning portraits. Sorry to hear about your cousins problems.

I need groceries, cupboards are bare!

Yes, 20's and 30's can be great fun years!

everyone

Buffy it sounds like your visit was well-timed and really necessary.
It's possible DGS would not have "heard" you at a different time.
I'm sure you wish they lived closer and you could be more involved, but thank goodness you were involved at just this moment!

I am working today - making up for yesterday, lol!

Hi everyone,

We saw God is Not Dead this afternoon in Bville. Brett came up there and had lunch with us and went to the movie. It was a popcorn free event.

Oh, Buffy, I'm sure your dgs felt your love and concern. What a blessing to have time with your dgd, too!! It is better for you to fly than drive all those miles!!

Have a wonderful birthday, Sharon.

From FB I learned that Monday is Phil's big day. I am thinking that is his surgery date. Maybe MK can fill us in. Praying for Phil and MK's mom.

Buffy - Sounds like a very nice and important visit for all of you. I'm sure it really helps your DGS to have you tell him what has been helpful for you. I know when my DD in TX begins having our grandkids, it will be hard for me to miss out on moments, though she has asked that we move to TX. DH doesn't plan to leave KS. Arghff!! I bet once he meets his first grandchild his heart will be changed!!

I saw that on FB too, Carolyn and was hoping MK would explain a little more.
And guessed her mom wasn't well?

Praying regardless!

Debbie I admire your daughter just going ahead and asking that you & your husband uproot yourselves so she can have you near. Good for her!
The answer might not be "yes" or maybe just "not yet", but very bold of her to ask!

Thanks Judy. I want to be there about any time! We moved to KS a little over 20 years ago and now with the two girls gone (Missouri and Texas) we don't have family here in KS. (Except church and work!)

Sharon!

Buffy - sounds like a fabulous time! And that you could help your DGS!!!

Thanks Judy and Carolyn!
Yes, Monday is DH's surgery day. They'll remove his bladder, prostate and lymph nodes and build a neo-bladder for him. It's a 6-8 hour surgery.

My mom fell out of bed last night and bumped her head - big bump! But the nursing home thought she'd had a stroke. In the ER at 2:00am she didn't talk and her eyes stayed to the right. She seems pretty good today, just not talking much. Though I'm not sure she did much anyway.

Hopefully she'll go back tomorrow so I only have 1 to worry about on Monday.

Oh my, Mary Kay! Yes, I hope your Mom is okay. I'll be praying for you and yours! Your DH will do great...it will be an adjustment and I pray that he gets up and around in the hospital. Encourage him to use the incentive spirometer they give him post op.

Hi ladies,

One patient at a time, MK.. Definitely will be praying your mom goes back to the nursing home today. And certainly lifting Phil up along with his surgeons and all of the family. Do you have to go to a bigger city hospital for this???

Nice day here. Anyone still interested in basketball?? I think dh will watch Kentucky today as they beat KSU and WSU.

Morning!

Saw your news on FB MK and best wishes and strength to you and Phil and his medical team tomorrow, and, sorry to hear of DMs fall, hope allis well there soon.

Debby, it is sooo nice to live near grandchildren if possible. Love is the same but being near adds a lot to both their lives and yours. Plus, we can be loads of help

People are starting to plant here. I asked SIL who has lawn, landscaping company to bring me a flat of petunias when he picks them up poor his customers. Time to stray cleaning up the patio area so we can enjoy before it gets too hot, sure hope the cold winter means a cooler summer.

Could not fall asleep last night and this winter while I was not watching carbs at all, I would have a bowl of cereal and hot chocolate to lull me to sleep, but last night I made a omelet and gosh, still full when I woke up. I sooo need to get to the store!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, hugs all around!

Thank you so much for the HB well wishes. It was a lovely day. We now have our garden in for the season. Last night we had light showers. When I let my fur kid out around midnight our deck was all wet. There was an earthquake down in Los Angeles area but we are way to far to feel any shakes. I'm waiting on my dr. appt to have my knee examined. I'm so tired of the convalescent waiting to get in to see him. Hope he is able to do something so I can get back to walking for exercise again.

Best wishes and prayers to all who need them. Have a nice rest of your weekend.

Hi gals,

Thinking of MK and Phil today....

Akkk. I hate to weigh tomorrow, but will!

I think Debby is the last one to see Spring!! Sharon is the furthest south??? Or does Buffy win the prize. The rest of us are in the middle, then there's Debby.

I wish (ex-farm boy) Gary would plant a tiny garden. We would have to import some real soil, I'm afraid. In Iowa things would grow so well! We had nice black soil. Our soil is a light brown.

Have a great day!!

And then I wish Gary would plant a little garden for me.
DH is very happy to get on his new John Deere and cut his own lawn. He really enjoys it.
There's no accounting for tastes!

Keeping MK & her DH in my prayers today, too.

Sharon are you in northern California? Or am I way off base?

YES, Debby, we have HUGE weather extremes here - not unusual for this area and it makes life quite exciting sometimes! And sometimes not in a good way...

Good day to all!

Judy, I'm sorry about your nephew with Crohns. That is a tough disease. Lots of steroids.
