Hi all!
Svelte is my hope...

Good planning, Buffy - and safe and super duper fun travels to you!

Cleaning up and putting some things away.
We are supposed to have a little weather here, too.
But we are also supposed to finally get to babysit DGD!
Her parents are going to meet some friends for dinner near here, so the perfect amount of time, I hope.

One thing I have learned: DH is a champion baby-stealer, LOL!
I'll have to be on my toes to get some time in!

Hi Debbie!

My mom is so well now none of us can believe it.
But I check every day (not physically) to see if we're dreaming...
She is driving and participating in everything there is.
She went to choir practice on Wednesday evening.

Thanks for asking - how about your mom? (aren't you sorry you asked - now you have to answer! We'll take a short answer if necessary. )

Judy! Ah, that is so awesome that your Mom is back to her usual routine after such a significant surgery and all her treatments! My Mom is doing well too!! She went to her new cardiologist for follow up a month after her cardiac stents (the OLD bad one is HISTORY!!). He has her doing cardiac rehab....which, my Mom hasn't been on an exercise program in the past 40 years, so that is good for her. She asked if he would shock her out of the A fib once and for all now that her coronary artery disease is better....he says he'll consider it in about 3 months. ?Wonder if by then more healing around that stent and less likely then to clot around the bare metal coronary artery stent? I hadn't thought of that before.....hmm. She is still wearing her oxygen but she is getting around much better now that she is less tired out all the time. Amazing that she is alive having had 99% blockage of her LAD for who knows how long, and she still has a couple areas of 50 to 60 % blockage in the other two major coronary arteries (right and circumflex). More info than you really needed to know. But it IS amazing she lived to get to the second cardiologist! Don't have energy to do anything about the first guy, who allowed her to go into CHF and A fib....I live in a different state, besides, my family doesn't need the added stress.

Work is doing a weigh in thing for Spring starting Feb 7th. I gotta do something. I am putting in excessive hours right now and no time to exercise. Forget Spring....I'm ready for Summer already!

My DH had 98% blockage of his left anterior descending before he had triple bypass about 15 years ago.
But he is type I diabetic, so.... we're just glad he's with us every day!

Thank goodness for the second cardiologist. Amazing your mom gets her strength back after all that time!!! Great to hear such good news about your mom.

Oh a weigh in... well... good luck! (and mumble mumble glad I'm not having to weigh in mumble mumble )

So glad your husband is doing well, especially since he is a type I diabetic....some things we just cannot control, like our genes. My mom is a type II diabetic, has been for about 15 years, and added insulin about 2 years ago. And not until I was visiting and we were in the hospital did I learn she'd never had DIABETIC TEACHING! I asked her what she wanted for a late bkfst so we could make sure she could have it after her heartcath. She said, a glass of OJ, oatmeal with walnuts, and toast. I said, "Mom, you can't have orange juice, that is an emergency drug to diabetics!" She said she was used to having one about every AM because sometimes she wouldn't (back then) eat bfst til about 1100 and having taken her Lantus the eve before she was really hungry. I asked how often she checked her blood sugars, and she said a couple times a week, and especially if she felt her BS was really low in the AM, it might be about 65 to 70. I cannot believe I didn't KNOW she wasn't being taken care of!

She has been good on her diabetic diet since her Dec 6th hospitalization and has lost 10 lbs. (still about 40 or more lbs overweight though....she is 4'11 and 177 lbs). She's gone to three classes now for diabetes education!!

She still is a little tired out at times because of the atrial fib making her miss out on about 20% of her cardiac output. It will be nice if they can get her back into a normal rhythm.

Weigh in is a group motivation project this Spring....with about 18 to 20 of us involved. I hope to fit into some Spring clothes that are in my closet, and not have to go out and buy more for THIS size!! (I look like my avatar photo on the left again...YUCK!)

My husband was diagnosed at age 8.
He considers himself a "professional" diabetic LOL.
Hard to tell him anything...

And sometimes I just have to realize my "helpful words" are not welcome. Gosh if I were the diabetic and he was as nosey as I am.... He'd have his feelings hurt pretty quickly. HA HA!

Thank goodness your mom is getting some training.

I've taken care of those juvenile onset diabetics at that age in the ER. Whew! What his mom must have gone through as he grew and his metabolism and everything changed!! Bless her heart! I am so thankful he takes if from you, he is probably so used to it since age 8!!

Hi Judy,
Thanks for asking. No news from DD yesterday or today. Assuming 'no news is good news.' She put herself on bed-rest. Funny thing, the specialist said the bed-rest wouldn't make any difference, but she notices bleeding when she does too much. Praying things get better.

She was here for 1 hour.

She woke up five minutes after the parents left, then cried for 25 minutes.
She was literally heartbroken that the face she saw when she woke up was not her mother's! We walked around and talked about it, DH stole her and could not convince her everything was all right.

Mom left some expressed breast milk in a bottle and she polished off the whole thing, playing with my hands the whole time, then she laid on me for 15 minutes, whimpering every now and then, LOL. Then her parents came back!

Parents said they knew she should see other faces than theirs, so we're starting some new visits, I hope. It was nice to have her - she is such a polar opposite of DGS. She was a tiny little flower.

DD is so cute - she says even when DGD cries, it's like angels singing. HA HA!
DGS can really belt it out..

Nice to see Sharon and Debbie!!! Glad our moms are doing better!!

Anyone got special SB plans?? Does anyone care who

Yes - well said - she is very sensitive.
We have kind of been waiting for her parents to "loosen up" a little, but sometimes we just have to be patient. We were excited just for the chance last night. They are ready to loosen up a little, I think.

Not a big super bowl house here. I don't think you have snow, Carolyn, but we already have a couple of inches. Just for my own fun, I'm going to make Peggy's (buttoni's) sausage balls - she makes them with better than flour mix + cheese. I made them last summer and they were good, but dry. I'm going to use less btf mix this time and will let you know.

Also making mozzarella cheese biscuits and gravy (with a little "real" four in the gravy) for a special Sunday morning meal - plus that leftover gravy & biscuits is like gold. For me anyway.

Made Karen's (Low Carb One Day At A Time) muffin-in-a-minute chocolate cakes last night. I forgot to add the coconut oil and I forgot to add the chopped chocolate. So I can't really give it a fair review. But it WAS quick to throw together and I ended up throwing the few chocolate morsels I'd chopped on top of the little cakes. They melted into a frosting. But man those 2 little cakes were dry. I bet they'll be fine dunked in coffee or slathered in butter.

I think today I'll try Maria's chocolate lava cakes - cutting the recipe in half to make 4 instead of 8 small ramekins of cakes.

Snow makes me cook, apparently.

Hi! Remember me!
We've been traveling since Friday. Moved DD27 to Chicago during the horrible snow storm and because of it didn't get to see DS21.

But she's all moved into her sublet. She can move herself in April to her new apartment!!

So happy to hear all the good health news everyone!! Yay!!

Didn't get to weigh in this morning, but bought a size 0 skirt yesterday, so I guess the full carb diet is working!

We're still in the car, but I'll try to be more chatty this week. DH has lots of scans and tests so maybe we'll know something soon.

Love you all!

MK!
Thank you for checking in!! Please be careful....

I wish the full carb diet would work for me. Of course we both know I want all the fat, too, so... that's not happening for me. You are tiny and cute and busy and working out. You rock that size 0!

My size 10s are almost the same size.

Almost.

Be careful MK! Hope your DH tests come out super-duper! WTG on the size 0!!! Hard to wrap your head around that one! But I have looked at those in the store & they're down-right tiny!

Judy you're so funny!

I just talked to DD. She went to church this morning, which started some more spotting. I think its the urinary track infection... tried to encourage her in that. She goes for another blood test tomorrow & ultra-sound on Tuesday.
