Hi ladies..

New furniture? How fun, Debby..

Oh, Mary Kay..It is good to get everything done in one day...Praying for wisdom for the doctors and patience and peace for you both.

Now, I have to focus on what I have bought and what I need to buy for presents. Need to get dh something other than his new eyes..LOL.. He can't read out of his new lens yet and next week he will have his other eye done, so he won't be able to read at all..(He might as well jump off a bridge). So, we are going to WalMart and get some cheap
reading glasses with my help..LOLL

Neato on the new furniture! We have a great deal of inherited furniture (my only connection with the Jane Austen era LOL! ) for which I am sadly losing my love... Waiting for our kids to get older and hope they "appreciate" some of these "heirlooms". "quote"

DD and DGS have promised to help me shop for DGD. DD is a shopping genius where gifts are concerned. She puts a great deal of thought into it and a good deal of whimsy. She's really clever at gift-giving. Time is really running out, though, and I am a little worried - which does no good at all.

Stopped by my doc's office yesterday to request my next blood test (probably today) test for sex hormones or whatever, since I'm on BIHRT. She agreed... then thyroid and homocysteine (high last time) = $384. And that was discounted.
Merry Christmas to me.

Sandy how did your dad's colonoscopy go? No news was good news, I was thinking...

Hope y'all had an enjoyable Friday. Peace to those with health concerns.

I had a very restful day. Did book-work & my exercise inside so I wouldn't miss the delivery men's call. Did a bit of straightening up, getting ready for the furniture to arrive. But it didn't. I had to call them & reschedule it. They'll bring it tomorrow. What a way to run a business... I remember they did this to my neighbor a few months ago too.

I've been retaining water & not knowing why... figured it out tonight. Franks Red Hot sauce has more sodium in it than Tabasco sauce. Hmm...

We decided we'd better get started on our Christmas shopping... One family down... one to go... waiting for ideas from them. Of coarse DDIL turned the question right back on me... what do we want? I don't do well with any of this, neither does DH. We'd all like to get away from it, but haven't come up with a way. I was just remembering our gifts to them last year... neither of them have used their gifts from us.

Merry Christmas to me.
Daily recommended doses of folate, B vitamins, and multivitamins are generally sufficient in regard to lowering homocysteine levels. These daily doses are recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the doses in a specific product are printed on the label of the vitamin bottle by the manufacturer. Usually, folate supplementation is recommended at 1 milligram daily; vitamin B6 is recommended at 10 milligram per day; and vitamin B12 at one-half milligram per day.

I take Folic Acid Xtra every day - lots of B's in it. Though they haven't proven that lowering it helps your heart . . ..

Sandy - I'll be thinking of you on Friday!

Debby - I feel the same way - I don't really need anything! And if I do, I buy it myself!

Hi gang..

I love my Vitamin B's...and I take Biotin for my terrible nails.

Judy: I know..bloodtests are expensive..My total one was $437 with hormones/lipids...However, I do remember a "bill" for $1,000 for all that stuff when I went to a different lab and I was covered by insurance.

Going to see "Frozen"..Can't wait..My little reading buddy Scarlet is my "date"..

I think dh has a cold..Yikes, I hope he is okay for the eye surgery on Thursday..

Brett's first week of work went fine..Thank God..They get Friday afternoons off, so he found a grocery store..PTL!!

Debby: Soooo many things are chock full of sodium..Not good.

I always do everything you tell me to do!

I have taken biotin for several months now because you all told me to and I always do everything you tell me!

Carolyn, good report for Brett.
Sometimes cute girls are food shopping!

Debby, I am just just just beginning Christmas shopping and hoping things will just hop into my head and into my hands to give at Christmas. I'll let you know how that works...

Judy, I checked with the lab company I use and those 2 tests would have been $185, that's homocysteine and a full TSH/free T3/free T4 thyroid panel. I'm not sure I can say the company here but if your on Facebook, message me. Oh, and the nice thing, you can order them yourself (no prescription needed) and probably use the same lab you went to.

Thanks Cindy - I've used the healtcheck lab and gotten better pricing, too.

This current draw included all the sex hormones as well since I'm on bhrt. I checked on that site and couldn't find one better priced, I think. I think.
It's actually been a couple of months since I checked.

Hi..

We loved Frozen..There was a 6 year old birthday party in front of us, but as soon as the movie began, they all stopped hopping and running around..

Sleep tight, everyone..We just watched Intouchables on Netflix..Different movie, but it had subtitles..It was fine.

Loved Mansfield Park...and Sense and Senseability..

Hi ladies.

Got a great text from my ds this am. If anyone doubts there is a God, then this is the proof right here. Brett won a vacuum at his company's Christmas party!! Did I forget to mention that he never vacuumed his old apartment?? Ever. I do believe God has a sense of humor, too or his neatnik Grandma Betty in heaven had something to do with this???

I am buying my kids each a bottle of Excedrin for Christmas. It is the best headache med ever. I just discovered it when a friend gave me two when I had a headache.

Carolyn that is too close to home to be a coincidence!!
How wonderfully funny!

Also nice he got to start his new work so close to their Christmas party - he probably got to know people differently and quickly than just going to work every day.

Hello my dear friends! So glad to get a moment to check in and catch up on everyone's news, both good and not so good. Thinking of all that are having health issues and tests and wishing them all the best.
Extremely busy week, went to Austin to see my little Oliver and have an early 3rd birthday celebration, he loved it and told his Mommy that I was his Mema and he didn't want to share me
Picked up my cousin there and we visited with DS and family more, then back to Dallas on Thursday. Then, shopping, movies, lunch out and through it all, toffee, toffee, toffee! Just keeping up with orders.
Took cousin to airport at 4:30 to this AM, hope to catch a nap, then will get back to the toffee and laundry. DD #3 will come this afternoon to package her gifts of toffee.
Next week more toffee, my little business seems to be growing
Then, Christmas week is upon us. I will finish up shopping and sending off gift cards this week.
Loved reading all of your news and promise to be less busy, like everyone, in a couple of weeks!
Hugs

LOVE it Carolyn!
We also saw God at work today. Last week DGDKiddo was throwing a cry-fit thing at having to come to church. Today she came & actually smiled! Then minutes after we sat, another girl her age turned & invited her to sit with her! DGD actually participated in church!! PTL! It gives me 'hope' where last week I was feeling so hopeless. God is in control.
Buffy so good to hear from you! Don't wear yourself out. Have fun!
I'm also enjoying some of the Christmas movies Judy.
God bless all of you & your families.

Today was our annual cookie/candy making day so tonight I'm totally pooped! But it's always great fun with my DD, DGDs and our unofficially adopted DGD. We made way too much but I'm sure all the recipients of the goodie trays loved it. I brought home only 1 piece of each kind for me and DH. I took a tray up to all the servers and bartenders at our favorite Mexican restaurant and they all loved it! Each of them came up and thanked us as we ate our dinner this evening. That really made the hard work worth it to see it bring such joy to others. Very good day.

I have been thinking of you all but have been so busy with the end of the semester at my university, the responsibilities of the extra work I have agreed to take on for next semester (eek!), Thanksgiving in Springfield, Missouri with DH's family (and brought home a second kitty: 8 year old Biff), went to Little Rock, Arkansas racing to beat Storm Cleon with the ice and snow!! Mom had her heartcath and was found to have 99% blockage of her left coronary artery that the cardiologist (the 2nd opinion specialist!) was able to successfully open with stents!!! Mom has been feeling better and may be able to receive a synchronized cardioversion in about 3 weeks to get her out of atrial fibrillation!! Now that her heart is receiving excellent blood flow, her shortness of breath is a little lessened, and getting out of atrial fibrillation will bring new energy! She is so motivated to eat better and do cardiac exercise rehabilitation. She wants us daughters to do better too and lose weight with her!! I then drove through the ice storm of Deon and am grateful that I was able to make it home safely! And so much has happened since then....I began decorating our house for Christmas last pm, and still have so much more to do....DD & SIL from TX, and other DD from MO coming in about a week!! I have received the best gift in that my Mom's heart is saved from having a heart attack....so thankful!! I felt God's presence with me to help minister to my mom and family while in their presence. God is WITH us, Emmanuel!! It was such a tender time to pray and worship--"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus....there's just something about THAT Name!" If God allowed me to be a nurse for ONLY being able to be helpful to my mother and family 10 days ago so that she would successfully go through her miraculous heartcath....then I am blessed and thankful!!

Hi everyone..

Buffy: The toffee elf is in full swing, right? Nice to see you...

Debbie, sooo happy to hear about your Mom's "new" heart. What a miracle. Glad she has a new lease on life.. PTL! and new kitty..

I do think Brett had fun at the Christmas party...He is a bit shy, so it is good that he is socializing..We are going to meet him at the Lone Star Steakhouse on the way to OKCity Wednesday night..

Sandy: Yummy..I know your grandkids will remember that special cooking day..Gosh, I wish I could eat that stuff..

Sharon: Sometimes the blues hit hard during the holidays..Sorry..

Finished my bear hat for Dd's neighbor baby..and made her one of those quick drop stitch scarves..So easy and quick.

Hugs all around..Off to exercise..LOL

Sandy you have neat cooking traditions. In the near future, I think I'd like to be that Grammy. Before the grandkids were even thought of, I bought some "elf" looking cast iron shapes - you make pancakes by pouring them in or around these molds. I was hoping to be that Grammy that makes those pancakes! (ours will be coconut flour pancakes LOL).

Then DD chimed in and bought me some cookie cutters - "ninja bread men" for gingerbread men. Good thing she had a boy! And in honor of Cindy at some point I bought more cookie cutters - "ginger dead men". I may be done buying cookie cutters, but I'll let you know. And I have yet to make the gingerbread dough!! LOL

Sharon - I hear you. I seem to teeter totter between elation and depths. I had previously thought hormones. I have no idea, but in either case I tend to remind myself that this too shall pass. to you.

Debbie you have been so busy and what fantastic updates you've given us! PTL indeed!!
You must be so relieved to finally have your DM on that road. Heck, I am relieved to hear it!

Debby also a wonderful story about your DGD in church.

Carolyn I think my DS really really likes that Lone Star Steak house. A few years ago when he was demonstrating his adult-ness, he took DH and me there, probably for a Father's Day meal, and paid for the meal. He was fresh out of the army and working at a real job and I thought it was charming. He's really a charming young man anyway.

That bear hat sounds super duper duper cute. Any chance there is a picture?

Thank you friends!! It is so wonderful to share that amazing news about my Mom with all of you as you heard about it for months! Thank you for your prayers and your encouragement over those months too....I am so very thankful that I found you, and that we seem to all share a special faith in the Lord on this site! I am looking forward to the time when I will have a little breather and can figure out how to eat like you all do...I do think that simple carbs of wheat and sugar are deadly (though yummy!) and I know that leads to higher triglycerides, which leads to insulin resistance, which can lead to metabolic syndrome and heart disease.

Want to hear something else amazing about Mom's Little Rock cardiologist?! He was able to do ALL that repair to her heart through her radial artery in her right wrist!!! She had read the brochure his office sent that access for the heart cath could be through the groin (femerol artery), the arm (brachial artery area) or the wrist (radial artery area). She had an ablation 8 years go through her right femerol vein and said that it was uncomfortable at that groin site for about 2 months, plus being on blood thinners and the location of constant bending would make that more prone to bruise. She asked him to go through her radial artery and her circulation to her hand was good so he did!! Horray!! My anxiety level greatly dropped knowing she could walk more safely! If the heart cath had been done through the groin, then leaving on icey terrain and a jerk of her leg would mean certain groin hemorrhage! Her wrist healed very nicely and she guarded it well. NEVER in her life did Mom have chest pain/angina. Women can have different manifestations of coronary artery disease....she was just SO exhausted, and had SO many reasons to be. I am thankful that God provided that RN in church when I visited with Mom many weeks ago and gave us the name of a different cardiologist!! God is faithful! Remember the comment the first cardiologist made: "Our goal is to get people to 80 years old and you just have to live with this shortness of air?!" If your gut tells you something is not right....persue it! God loves to bless us when we go to Him for answers!

Praying you are all having blessings despite the busyness and preparations. Just think...Jesus IS the reason we celebrate!
