PTL!! That sounds like a "God-Incedent" to me! May the Lord continue to open doors & give them the energy to pursue this!
Its good that you can still get there in a day's travel. But hard to go back & forth. When my Mom & Dad were needing help I drove from my home, 24 hrs away. Once I flew, but that drives me crazy, all the airport-sitting ... would rather drive. I'm so glad that I did it. Those were my last & very valuable times with each of them.

Hope everyone's doing good. It was really hard to get up early & go to work again, after 4 days off & sleeping in! Well, also fighting off a head-cold... (which is mostly gone now).

Looking forward to hearing more!

Hi ladies..

Wow..that was a God thing on Sunday, I think. Praying that your Mom will get what she needs with this new doctor.

Printer broke..Good thing we have a spare..Now to get some other cartridges..LOL.

I was 143 this morning....Sometimes you don't know why weight loss happens.

You can add my ds Brett 26 to your prayers for a new job. His boss left a few months ago along with another guy in engineering..So, he got another one that was not good. He had been looking for a new job since his boss left, but the company let him go on
Friday. It is not a horrible thing, except for his ego. He really needed to move on,
so this forces him to do that. Thanks for your prayers.

I'll continue to pray, too - thank you for fleshing out that story, Debbie.

Piper Rose came last night - 7 lbs. 11 oz. 20 3/4" of preciousness!
Mom was induced, but evidently Piper turned in a wrong direction and after more than 24 hours, they had a c-section. We are all pretty happy right now.

And today more work begins, as my sweet mother will leave hospital and go home and my SS and I have decided to insist she do more for herself. She has asked little of us our whole lives and has given us everything, but these last many weeks she has been so wounded - and has allowed us to do everything for her. I'm pretty sure it's no longer helping her but allowing her to stay weak.

So we'll continue to stay with her and steady her and help her get stronger, but if she doesn't move more and stay vertical more and eat a little more food, she won't get better. And she IS getting better, SS and I just realized we need to back off a little.

and to all of you!

Piper Rose-what a beautiful name for a beautiful baby. How exciting!! Congratulations to all!
Good thinking on your plan of action for your mom. You are so right that she has to start trying to do more. Every day that she's idle just weakens her more and more. I hope she doesn't resist too much and that you and SS are strong when you need to be.

Sorry about Brett, but I'm sure you're right. He'll find another job and he'll realize this was a good thing that happened to him. I hope he finds one soon for his sake. That will help his bruised ego a lot!

Hi gals..

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for Brett..We know he will find the perfect job..

Piper Rose...Welcome to the world. Judy, you are indeed part of the sandwich generation..and you are in the middle of the sandwich.. Your mom does need to get
her strength back as she continually feels better.

Sandy, when are you leaving for the Little Apple? The nice part is that KCity is easily
drivable..

I made those gingerbread cookies and they are very popular..My friend Kathy needs to lose about 50 pounds and she started with my darling doctor..

Hugs all around.

I realize we have a long row to hoe, but my mother is definitely better. I'm in her house in my old bed and she only woke me twice. She gets so anxious at night we rarely get to sleep more than 2 hours.

I bet I got 6 hours last night and I can still hear her dozing. MUCH better. Much stronger.

We went to see little Piper and her parents last night and she is a darling little girl!

Carolyn I'm sorry to bug you but I would love you to point me to the gingerbread cookie recipe. My mom has nearly all the low carb flours and sweeteners and I wonder if she might like to smell those cooking?
Oh who am I kidding?? I want to smell them and eat them!

Thanks, friends, for all the uplifting prayers, wishes, and kind thoughts!

Judy - SO happy you Mom is home! And you there with her! Road to improvement should exponentially grow now! Piper Rose, such a sweet name! You've been so blessed these past few weeks. I know you are tired....but this too shall pass.

My Mom has appt TODAY at 3pm with the new cardiologist!! Wish I could be there too, but she is in Arkansas. Thank you SO much everybody for the prayers and support!

Judy you are right about those good smells coming from the kitchen perking up ones needing healing. A slice of banana bread with a little butter on it is another idea.

My new hiking shoes came yesterday. Boy do they fit nice. Plan on taking a nice off road walk with them and the fur boys today. We've been in the 80's here and looks like it's going to be another of the same today.

Time to get busy with my day. See you later.

Wow Debbie, THAT WAS FAST! So happy for you and your mom and praying the appointment goes well.

Carolyn - thanks for the link!

Sharon I love the idea of banana bread -what could be better?
This doc apparently does a lot of different kind of gastro surgeries and knows how the j-tube (feeding tube) and g-tube get hinky - he said no refined sugar and no bread.
Which made me kind of happy... my mother couldn't care less about eating, so, I'm hoping I'll come up with something that will get her to take some bites.

Right now it's yogurt to help her inflamed tongue - so much sleeping with her mouth open has dried it out and it's red and sore and painful. BUT getting a little better.

Judy - If your Mom will tolerate it, instead of yogurt for her inflamed tongue, try having her hold cottage cheese in her mouth, or even to slowly eat it. Yogurt may have sweetener added, cottage cheese doesn't. Bless her heart! I am so happy she is doing so well. Good info to know from the surgeon's perspective of refined sugar or breads gunking up j-tube (jejunum/small bowel) and g-tube (gastrostomy/stomach). Is she "going" now? Constipation problems due to pain meds?

So Mom saw 2nd cardiologist, who is about 10 years younger than her original cardiologist (and looks up to the original). But doesn't want to do a heart cath at this point. Having a nuclear heart scan in 11 days, then may see if heart cath would be indicated....has not had any chest pain. Doubled up her Lasix due to the fluid in her lungs (I heard 2/3 way up bilaterally Sunday!) No edema in her legs. Just going to have to trust the Lord and try to be more of a daughter....it's so hard not to be a nurse when it's SO familiar, and it's MY loved one! Thank you all again, friends!!

Hang in there Judy & Debbie. God bless your Moms & you as you help them.

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I quit using artificial creamer & sweetener. anyway, I sure got my carbs down today... Decided to go for turkey & turkey-skin for my afternoon snack (cleaned the meat off the carcass to freeze), so I didn't have fruit or GY today either. I sure felt full! Calories - 1211; Carbs 23; Fat 72; Protein 90

Oh, Molly broke her own speed record today... passed the van going 40 km. (20 mph) I had to slow for a corner, so I'm not sure how fast she actually went, it was just over that. She's beautiful to watch running... I especially love to watch how she runs through the field.

Debby
I'm so glad you got Molly! What a joy to hear.

WOW on your low carb day! Low carb indeed!

Debbie it must be so hard to know so much and have to wait.... and wait... for someone to finally address what you've already seen....

Sharon today I finally went to a grocery store and got a few things. After my sister left, I made a faux chicken and rice casserole. No rice.
I had chicken thighs and a couple of breasts - my brother-in-law loves chicken breasts - and put broccoli florets and cauliflower in place of the rice. 1 stick of butter, melted, + a can of the cream of chicken and mushroom soup + a can of cream of celery, and sprinkled a packet of onion soup mix over all.

Man the house smelled good. My mother even wanted a couple of bites. They were tiny, but she did say it smelled good. It's a start. And thank goodness I have leftovers.
The vegetables were obliterated in the cooking process, but more could sure be added. The sauce is delicious.

Lots of news since I checked in last.

Piper Rose, what a pretty name, congratulations Grandma!

Sorry to hear about Brett's job loss but hopefully it will lead to a new, better position. DD is kind of in the same boat, new boss came in, nixed her promotion that had been long promised and it really killed her spirit, she had worked so hard for it. Lots of unhappy people at her company since he arrived.

Glad to hear the updates on the Moms, who are so lucky to have their loving DD's to care for them.

Have been busy getting caught up with things since getting home but still feeling better which is such a blessing. In fact, instead of sleeping way too much, having a little trouble sleeping. Woke at 4:00 am, think I will try to go back to bed for a little while now.

Loving the nice fall weather.

My new Iphone 5 S came, I had the 4 S so not much new to learn, which is a good thing. Now, with the trade ins and a contract, all you pay is taxes, etc. Now to get the new case, screen protector, car charger, etc. Why do they have to change the chargers every darn time

Buffy I hope you went back to bed.
I did. It is my night off and I slept until 9 AM

I am going to let SS go to her 40th high school reunion this weekend and just stay all weekend with my mom. She'll do the same for me - I don't have a reunion, but I'll enjoy being home for two nights in a row.

SS was with mother last night and experienced the same as me the night before. Mother is only waking once or twice during the night, instead of running us more ragged than a newborn babe. So we all get to sleep. And since we're not in hospital, if she sleeps a little later in the morning, so can we. It makes SUCH a difference to have some sleep.

SS said this morning, mother walked into the kitchen with her walker (followed by SS who is holding the pump, nutrition bag, and foley for the G tube *sigh*) and made some coffee! Had one sip, then was finished, but HOORAY for something normal!!
We think we are seeing glimmers of "betterness" here. I'm just going to start making up words now.

Hi!

My BFF from 6th grade has been in town all week. We've had a wonderful time. I hated to see her go back to CA.

Merlin has been going to puppy class - it's more like parent training class and I think we're one of the slow learners . ..

Yay Buffy and Judy!!

Debby - maybe you should have named her Flash!
