Cindy - Mom is going to see her cardiologist again on Wed, asking then if she can see the electrophysiologist regarding an ablation....her oldest sister had an intentional extreme ablation (probably of AV node) and permanent pacemaker insertion for treatment of her a fib. Congratulations to you and your horse for 2nd place!

Sometimes it is a hassle medically knowing so much (ME) because I just keep coming up with more ideas and scenarios, and haven't really dealt with the mortality issue in my own family before. Thank you girls for your thoughts, prayers, and encouraging words.

Judy - Is your mom on TPN (feeding through her IV?) Your visitation plans sound very appropriate. She needs rest too! HUGS to you!!

she's got a feeding tube.
but as of yesterday may have juices, broth, and jello.
she had a at jello yesterday afternoon but refused dinner. nurses keep asking me why I ask for sugar free. "Is she diabetic? "

Well, she's just had part of her pancreas removed and her surgeon orders insulin with blood glucose over 160. Last night it was 190 and she got 2 units of regular insulin. doc says it's way too soon to know whether she'll now be diabetic so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

But everything they offer except broth is sugar unless I ask for sugar free. Can't figure out why we'd dump sugar on this scenario. But I'll listen to anybody with different info.

That seems to be "the hospital way" Judy. Sadly. They pump in the sugar and then pump in the insulin. It sure doesn't make sense to me but I've seen it over and over and over with all the time my mom and now my dad has spent in the hospital over the years. It's very frustrating.
And remember Buffy talking about what they brought her to eat when she was in the hospital last year. It's like you need to pack food when you go in!!

Hello to all.
Thoughts and prayers to all of you caring for relatives in and out of hospitals and with on going health problems. I have been keeping up on your information, just not having much to write about lately. I am kind of in a funk I guess, dealing with my own crap, err, I mean health issues

I think the unwanted side effects of the previous meds are beginning to wear off but not enough I am sure of it . Doing what Dr. VH said to do and see him again tomorrow.

Really, really enjoying the fall beautiful weather we have been having. We had a wonderful, slow steady rain on Friday and nice temps since then and my plants are showing their appreciation by perking up and looking like they may recover from August in TX.

Hugs all around!

Hi gang!
Yes, energy is a wonderful thing that you don't realize you have, until you don't have it!!!
I am to discontinue the super duper extra med and just let my BP run a little high while being monitored, to see if the 2 other drugs will take over and handle it without the extra help. Kidney MRI tomorrow to rule out any kidney problems.

How is everyone else doing? Isn't the fall weather delightful???

Today was one of those days!
Exercise
Doc Appt
Health food store
Dog walk
Dietician appt,
yoga,
home for dinner - my first meal of the day!

Then went next door to listen to our neighbors play some songs - a dress rehearsal for the wedding they're performing at in VA this weekend.

The dad is a classical guitar professor, the son plays violin, trumpet, drums, guitar, ukelele, the daughter plays guitar, sings and plays clarinet, and mom plays the piano.
It was fun!

Buffy I am so excited you might get your old self back.

Debby I didn't know you were lacking energy - you are one of our serious exercisers!!
But congrats on feeling more energy!

MK you are amazingly busy! And I want to meet those neighbors and probably join in on something. I play piano but I bet not like they do....
I've known families like that. It's wonderful to be around.

Today was a turnaround day for my mom. Doc reduced her pain medication a day ago and she is speaking with more force. Yesterday she had still not walked a step since surgery. She had only been sat in a chair and that was painful and tiring and took 2 people to get her into and out of the chair and the in-between on the bed was painful.

So today, PT comes and gives her a walker and she walks right out into the hallway!
SS was with her during the afternoon and when I see her again tonight, she is walking only holding on to her IV tree! Strength back so well!

She is CRAZED for sleep, though. She has never slept well at night (and passed that on to me ) and is desperate to sleep through the nights in the hospital - not much sleep is happening. Hoping she did enough activity today to sleep tonight. SS is staying this night. We are switching every other night.

I am crazy sleep deprived, so good night to all you friends!

Judy what an awesome recovery for you dear Mom! How wonderful!
Yeah, I've let myself get into a "slump" after work... want to surf the net & then put myself into a grog... try taking a nap, but most times its a waste of time, because I'm not really tired! I'm going to have to admit that exercise gives me a second-wind... and I should be exercising right away after work instead of waiting till 4 pm. Because now that my adrenal fatigue is under control...I "have all kinds of energy" after I work out & that's when I get all of my chores done... duh! Its all a process, huh? Changing the "fat mentality" to a "fit mentality"- I must keep walking that direction - no matter how hard my flesh rebels!

Hope you & your Mom get a good sleep tonight!

Buffy - blessings on you, as you wait for the meds to regulate.
Mary Kay - WTG! Very busy day for you too!
Hi everyone!! Hope you're all doing great!

Great news about your Mom, Judy!! I'm so glad she is feeling better. It is hard for patients to sleep in the hospital.

My mom is being scheduled for her 3rd synchronized cardioversion. She has been on Amiodarone for almost a month so hoping that and her Diltiazem does the trick (guess I'm writing to Cindy with all these details!) I'm praying it "takes." Mom is admitting to feeling depressed due to how tired she's been feeling being in A fib.

For some reason I'm still up tonight...watching Breaking Bad marathon. I didn't see the first 20 or more episodes. Gotta to get to bed soon!

I think Breaking Bad is in my future - maybe a couple of years from now. I like seeing things like that in marathon form, I guess, and on my own time.

I am ignorant about your mom's condition, Debbie, except that for a year (I was working in another state where she was) I knew a woman who had had an AMAZING amount of ablations. It worked very very well for her, but I'm not sure if she was ever finished. We were more 'acquaintances' and did not stay in touch. I just remember her describing the procedures and being happy with the outcome.

If you stay with us, you'll find I'm happy to talk about LOTS of things I know little about!

I got 12 hours sleep last night. Off to hospital to relieve SS and I'll stay there tonight.

Morning

Diltiazem is one of the meds I just got off of, where I was sooooo tired all the time.

Kidney MRI at 2:45

MK is a , buzzing around and so active, as many of you are, I am jealous, I used to live like that

Judy, glad your Mom is improving and so glad you have SS to share duties with.

Hi!

Judy - Yay for mom!!!

And Debbie is right - no one sleeps well in the hospital!
I'm glad you got 12 hours!!

And that's a normal day for me - no wonder I never get anything done around the house!

Buffy - I can't wait until you're back to your old self!

Debbie - for you and mom!!

Debby - Exercise is always better if you get it done before you realize you're doing it!

Hi y'all
Busy day today... didn't walk, but got my exercise done, in spite of tweaking my back just before... amazingly feeling not too bad. PTL!

Hope Debbie & Judy's Mom's are getting better! Hope you can get some sleep tonight Judy.

MK... that would sure be the trick, getting it done before you realize it! I did mine today thinking I'll shoot for 10 minutes, then oh well 20, 30 & on till I reached my 40 minutes elliptical. So glad for the distraction of recorded "Mash" episodes.

Looking forward to a day off tomorrow to catch up around home.

Good night!

Hi ladies..

Missed you all, but internet/phone service was not good this week. Had lots of fun with
our Illinois friends. Stayed in their cottage in Olney, Ill and we took two trips to Indiana..One to Vincennes and the next day to French Lick and up to a darling town called Nashville, IN, where they have so many cute shops..

Wow..lots happening..

So glad Judy's mom is on the mend...What a miracle..You can work out the sugar details when she gets stabilized..It is terrible that hospitals don't get the diabetes thing..

Buffy: Best wishes with your MRI..Hope everything is perfect.

Debbie: Gosh..hope your mom will get the treatment she needs, too...

MK: How fun to have musical neighbors..

Ladies, now to get this weight off..Vacation weight is inevitable for me.

Hugs all around..Glad to be back..and on track..

Hi
Missed you too Carolyn! Sounds like you had a fun vacation. Always good to get back home & back to routine... (at least it is for me)! Hope the 'damage' wasn't too bad on the scale.

Well, its my day off & my back is 'sore' but manageable. Will have to do lots of stretching/walking today.

Have lots to try to get done today and Ava and Bobby are coming after school to spend the night.
Will have to fight off watching another season of Breaking Bad. So good to find another good series though.

Carolyn, sounds like a fun trip

Enjoy your day off Debby

Buffy, did you know they're having a BB marathon right now on FX channel? Or it might be AMC. Whichever channel it's on. I think all the other seasons are on Netflix except this season so you could always tape this season and not have to wait for it to come out. The series finale is on Sunday night. I'm sure going to miss that show.

Carolyn, you've been missed!!! But so glad to hear you had a great time. I'm still struggling with my vacation weight. I kind of wish I'd gotten off the weight before I joined the gym b/c right now I'm not sure why I'm not losing and I don't want to quit working out. Ugh. I'm trying to be patient but that is really NOT my strong suit.

I'm so glad your mom is doing well Judy. She's a real trooper.

And Deb, I'm so glad your mom is going to get the procedure she needs. I sure hope it takes and lasts for a long time for her.

I'm going with a friend to see The Butler today. I hope I like it.

Hi!

Exercise, pedi, movie, and a whole weekend to myself!
Is it bad that I'm excited about that?

Carolyn - I've been to Olney and Vincennes and French Lick!

Hmm... apparently I don't have FX channel. That show sounds good!
Sandy, have you gone back to your 8/16? Hope you can get the scale moving down. All that exercise is going to be great for you anyway!
Mary Kay I can totally relate!! That's how I feel about my Fridays... & today was a delightful day alone!

Do any of you know how to make good mayonnaise with olive oil? Mine is coming out "sour"... it works really well, but is sour or bitter from the oil. I bought lighter, which helped, but still. I'd like to make all our mayo, but it needs to taste better for dh. (I always mix mine with Tabasco anyway).

Also, any good "Ranch Dressing" recipes?

I started Primal - for maintenance mostly... because its basically how I was eating with the addition of some dairy & fruit. So far its going great.

Hope everyone is doing well. for you!

Hi everyone..

Debby: Honestly, I have never found a totally great mayo recipe..I'm a Hellman's girl, bad oil and all..

MK: I know we are stomping in your territory..I want to stay in that West Baden Hotel..Gorgeous..I love weekends to myself.

Gotta start selling tickets tomorrow for Neewollah..I have my little "witch" shirt ready..7:30 a.m...eek..Need to grab a coffee first, for sure.

Sandy: How was The Butler???
