Oh Judy!! Thanks for the update and so happy to hear she's out and making sense. That's a pretty big step after surgery! I've had you all on my mind a lot today and was hoping you'd have time to pop in and share.

I did reformer pilates today. It was only a 30 minute introductory session but wow! I wish it wasn't an additional charge at the gym. I just don't feel that I can pay extra for that class/lesson when I already make a healthy gym payment every month. My total gym, years ago, came with a pilates system add-on. I just might see if I can figure that out.

We're getting really hard rain and strong winds tonight. I hope it calms down and just rains. We need it so much!

I made chicken chile rellenos for dinner and they were delicious!!

Great news so far Judy, thanks for checking in.

Kudos to our exercisers, most all of you.

Dr. Didn't know what to think, except that I maybe had rebound reaction from change in meds. Will continue to monitor, taking more meds as needed and see him again next Tuesday.

Judy - Thanking God for your mom's recovery after surgery so far. Wouldn't be surprised if they give her a PCA pain pump.

I have been busy with my nursing students at work so havent been on the computer....but I am down to 186.1 in the past few days. (It's about time!)

Hi everyone..

143 today..I think that is my setpoint..I can only hope!!! But, there is vacation next week.

So glad that Judy's mom is out of surgery and so far, so good..I'm sure we will get updates..Praying for no more pancreatitis attacks..

Sandy, I hate it when they do charge extra for a class..It is not right..Our Mercy gym doesn't do that..I don't go there, but my friends do..But I hate being there at a certain time so I do my faux Curves.

No, I have never met Dee Rummond..except on tv..Her recipes are hometown wonderful..

Debbie: Wow, you are doing so well.. You can do it for sure.

Buffy, yes, hope you can figure out your meds and not have a rollercoaster experience like you had earlier this year..

MK: How is your heath? Just wondering if you have many episodes..

WTG Sharon!! You're on a roll! You can do it! My mom lost almost a 100 pounds and she was able to keep it off so please don't get discouraged. I worked at WW back then (she didn't lose it doing WW, she lc'd) and they had magnets for different milestones. I'd bring her one when she'd reach that milestone and she was so proud to put that on her fridge. She struggled with type2 diabetes and couldn't exercise due to some health problems but she kept at it. Sometimes setting short term goals helps to stay motivated too. You're doing great!

I wonder how Judy's mom is doing today?

Wow. My mom is pretty sparky today!
She has a pump of lidocaine that is probably doing a great job with keeping the pain to a minimum - it only dispenses around the surgery site.

Otherwise she is doing SO well. Everything she has said is totally coherent and extremely funny. I think she is feeling better than she thought she would (than we ALL thought she would).
We'll see how many jokes she cracks when they get her up this afternoon and put her in a chair for an hour!

The ICU people are so good and have all been kind and gentle.
SS spent the night with DM last night, but we agree she is fine alone, unless something changes today.
There's little we can do except get worn out. We'll save that for when she moves to a regular room.

All of you weight-losers are doing so well!!! Although I am not really eating off-plan at all, I am eating more than I normally eat, so I think I can be more conscious of that today. Drinking water... Feeding ice chips to my DM.

Doc said my mom is doing perfectly.

Thanks to all of you for your interest.

Judy - Such fabulous news!! Yes, do take care of yourselves too!

I'm still at 186.7 this AM. DH was taskmaster personal trainer for me this afternoon when he walked and I bicycled over an hour in our somewhat hilly neighborhood here. My aching legs!! It was good, I know I burned alot of calories and fat! He is 6'2" and I am about 5'3" so I don't try to walk with him, rather I bike and zigzag to stay near him without going to fast. What a beautiful day today! I'm glad he didn't tell me ahead of time the route or how long we'd be gone. I told him that if I had been at a gym I would have stopped after about 1/2 an hour...he said that is why he had us go so far and then we had to make it back! Cannot wait to lose at least 20 of these 50 lbs in the next few wks!!

I've been quite concerned about my mom too in the past 4 wks. She turned 80 in July. In 2005 she went into Atrial Fibrillation and had an ablation, which worked beautifully for years. Then 4 wks ago she went back out of normal rhythm and into A Fib again. She has been shocked twice over the past few weeks, had medications adjusted, and just yesterday told me on the phone that she may have to live with it. She lives in Arkansas and I could just hear the defeat/depression set in her voice. She gets easily fatigued and has to wear oxygen. It is hard to think about this. She has been on Prodaxa for years, so thankfully she will less likely have a stroke (A fib can make you develop clots in the atrium, which can break lose and go to the brain.) As a nurse I just want everything to be fixed....but age and heredity are tough competitors against me! Each of the synchronized cardioversions (shocks) put her into a normal rhythm, but then she slipped back into A fib again. (Mom is 1 of 7 siblings, 3 of her sisters also had A fib, it was a factor that caused the death of 2 of them).

Ah Debbie, good work out! Sounds like my DH & I! Although I'm an inch taller... they definitely have the advantage with those long legs. Once you lose those 50 you'll leave him in the dust!
Sorry your Mom's having heart issues. That's frustrating that they can't fix it.

I had a nice long quad ride with my neighbor. Went over some really bumpy terrain. Wore good ole Molly right out!

Judy how long will your Mom be in hospital? Hope she can come home with you soon... any babies yet?

Hope everyone else is feeling well & having a good Saturday!

Hi ladies..

Oh, Debbie: So sorry about your Mom..It is hard to see our parents get old and deteriorate..It is so stressful on everyone.

Judy: Glad your mom is doing okay..I drove with 2 friends to Tulsa yesterday for a meeting at the Asbury Methodist Church..Didn't get lost, either.

Getting ready for our friend vacation..Leaving in the a.m...Have to plan a Starbucks stop in Joplin, then continue on the way. LOL..

Washing clothes..Brett will catsit Alex, so I leave his clothes here in his old room. He is good to do this for us..Alex loves Brett and sits on his hands while he is computing in the evening..

We are visiting our friends..The dh has pulmonary fibroisis..Not good..The dw has so much food/portion control is it amazing. She has been thin all her life, but has to work at it and has done that..she is my role model..

Have a great trip Carolyn. Is this in Branson? How nice to know you're going to be around somebody who actually "gets it" about not overeating! You rarely get that bonus on vacation.

We picked up my dad from his church and met my 90 year old uncle and 86 year old aunt for BBQ. We all had a very nice visit. They still live on their own and have their own car. She was my grandma's oldest daughter and is the only one of her children still living out of 8. And my uncle is now older than any other person in his family has ever lived. And they're both still pretty sharp too though they do have a few ailments, of course. I spent a lot of time with them growing up and it's always nice to see them.

Carolyn I hope you have fun on your vacay!!

Debbie, Debby, MK, Sandy, Sharon we will have to hold down the fort.
When I say "we" I mean you all.

Well, that "mom is sparky" day was a honeymoon day. She is very weak these last couple of days, plus I think we wore her slick out. We have toned it down considerably and only allow ourselves to be in the room 1 or 2 at a time. And if two, one has to shut up, and the other has to mostly shut up.

Doc came in today and my SS and I asked what he thought of her energy level. We could hardly hear her, her voice is so quiet.
He said she was doing better than he thought. So again, we remain encouraged.

Her pain level had to come down some and it has, so she feels more like moving.
Gosh you all, they took out the head of her pancreas, some lymph nodes, the duodenum, part of her stomach, her gallbladder and re-sected her small intestine so the remaining pancreas drains into it correctly...

No wonder they said it would kick the behind of a 40-year-old. Sandy the way you describe your older folks in the family - I always thought that would be my mom, and it might be. This will be quite a hill to climb - will be a very long recovery.

SS spent the night with my mom last night, so I will tonight. She needs little, but is more comforted knowing she can call out our name and not fumble for the nurse button if she needs something. Doc thought he might move my mom out of ICU today and we said, "we will beg you not to do that on a weekend." He quickly agreed.

I read all your posts and am with you more than I post. Still on plan, just still probably eating more than I need.

I made a crack slaw last night - 1 lb. of sausage needed eating (I usually use beef but wow this was good) and a package and a half of broccoli slaw - half an onion, lots of garlic, ginger and coconut aminos. DH was pretty happy to have something cooked and so was I.

Thanks for listening!

Debby, can your mom have another ablation? Especially since she is symptomatic with her a-fib.

Hi Judy, thanks for the update. If the Dr is encouraged, and you and SS are encouraged then I'm sure all of us can feel encouraged as well. I'm sure your mom is going to be back to her old spunky self as soon as she possibly can. It took my 83 year old dad a few months after his cancer/double surgery episode last Dec. but he's back to normal and doing great! And I know your mom will be too! It sounds like she loves life and certainly enjoys her family and she's not going to want to waste a moment of that so she'll work very hard at recuperating at record speed.

Deb, Sorry to hear about your mom's health problems. My mom was in a-fib forever. She could never tell when she was in it and they think she was in it so long and that that was why they couldn't get her out. And her health would not allow surgery. I hope they are able to help your mom. And thank goodness you're a nurse so you know exactly what they're talking about and doing.

Cindy!!!!! Congrats!!!! That's fabulous!! Tell Chakka congrats too. How cool!

Hi gals..

We are driving to Columbia, IL and then on to Olney, IL where our friends have a cabin. They are huge Illinois fans..(MK)..They were the Alumni Fan of the Year one year..They even have a huge wooden Chief in their basement..

Yes, older peeps take longer to heal..Your mom will make it but with patience and love she will heal up and be better than ever.

Our "big" baby took 2nd place!!!! We are very proud of her..

Dh has to go out and wash the car..Too many bugs on the front fender..

Hugs all around..I will try to eat skinny this week.

Sandy that is very encouraging to hear - thank you so much.

All of you - thank you. Cindy, darnit I forgot to mention you!! Congrats on your second place!!!

Debby, thanks - it is scary. We are glad to be there for the person who has never faltered in her love or help for us.

I had a dear dear uncle who was also in a-fib forever. Gosh he was tough. He was a rancher - and also one of the sweetest men I've known. My mother's uncle. Thinking of you and your mom, Debbie.

Friend Carolyn, I hope you have a wonderful trip! (but I also hope you can peek in and let us know what fun things you are doing!)

MK, that's some very exciting news about all your little chicks, especially the engagement part!!! So what do you have planned for your 3 days of aloneness???? Relax and enjoy it!

I'm thankful for my good genes and I'm thankful for learning how to live that takes full advantage of any good genes I may have been blessed with.

That sounds like a fun trip Carolyn. Be careful and have fun. I can't wait to hear all about it.
