Had a setback with the pot roast. Going to be tomorrow. Daughter surprised us with a visit and we didn't get to the store. It was good to see her. We had a nice visit.

Hi MK!!

Buffy I forgot to say anything about your DH not wanting to be nagged - that is so funny and such a "man thing" isn't it?
I have to be careful what I say out loud. DH will buy things and "fix" things that do not need his attention!!!!

Carolyn that was a funny hardware store rule!

What a nice setback Sharon!!

I know this is too soon to get excited... DD is having runny poops (sorry!) and her belly is tightening, she is short of breath, then it stops, then it all starts again... I might be having my first grandchild pretty soon!

Tomorrow, however, I go with my mother to meet her oncologist and visit for the 2nd time (and hopefully have a PLAN) with her surgeon... so that baby needs to wait a little bit.

I don't know what it is about night time but that's when births seem to happen. Good luck with Mom and Daughter. Positive thinking that you will be able to be there for both.

Sharon exactly what I am hoping, thank you!

I slept with both phones next to my head last night. Nothing... As my SS says, with a due date of October 1, the hope for our baby coming early is usually only a hope

Hope is good!! I bet you can't wait! I would prefer it if your momma was all fixed up before the babies start coming though so you'd have no distractions and could immediately start spoiling them. That's the fun part!!

Did I tell you all that I've gained 5# since joining the gym!! This is NOT going the right direction, lol. I'm hoping it's water cushioning my sore muscles but I'm also hoping it starts dropping here pretty darned quick too!! There's that hope again!

Being an Okla. State fan - I know all about hope! LOL
Sandy you have been working out so much, I agree - it's the water cushioning your muscles! It must be good for you, though. I am secretly jealous and wish I had friends to work out with.

Still no baby and no thought of one. Doctor said it was all normal.
That's what I get for inheriting children - I have no idea what's normal in the birth-giving process!

My mother, my SS and I went to meet the oncologist who was absolutely dreamy.
Buffy I'd put him up against Dr. VH any time of the day. He actually agreed with my mom's surgeon - said chemo or radiation could actually upset the duct or the pancreas and she could end up with more pancreatitis. He had treated a couple of people we knew in town and they l-o-v-e-d him, so the two-hour (are you KIDDING ME?? ) wait for Dr. Dreamy was totally worth it. He was all in favor of my mom having surgery. Also a fabulous source of logical information. He said, "at the end of the day, medicine should be common sense." He explained everything perfectly and left us feeling quite hopeful.

Then we drove like crazy to get to the surgeon's appointment. He said she'd passed her heart tests with flying colors. He is asking her to get a pet scan to see as well as possible that this has not spread to other organs - reasonable.
In the absence of obvious spreading, surgery is in 7 days. She'll go in next Thursday, Sept. 19. If it has spread, no surgery, and lots of pancreatitis and cancer spreading.

10-14 days in the hospital. They think this is a more difficult surgery than heart bypass. But they all thought she'd do well, so here we go. The alternative is nearly unthinkable for us.

I am holding hope that the babies will remember my voice (I know they can hear me!!) and will love when I sing to them and play with them - whenever that may be.

In this instance, my mom will come first. She has always always always put us first, without a single thought to anything else.

Wow, that's some great news Judy!! I'll be praying that the PET scan shows no spreading and that she can have the surgery in 7 days and be fully recuperated right on schedule. It's so nice to get doctors who are real people, isn't it? They do seem to be few and far between, but they are out there. And it's immensely helpful to have a great nurse in your corner to translate and comfort too. Thanks Cindy!!

I wish you were close to me Judy. We could be workout buddies for sure!! We have a fun little bunch which keeps it fun.

I gained when I first started too. But how are your clothes fitting? Eventually you'll lose that 5 + more! And even if the weight stays, everything will start to fit better!!

Hi girls,
Looks like lots going on while I was gone.
Judy I hope your "babies" arrive at just the right time, that you can all enjoy the great news! And your Mom heals & gets the best care possible!

We went for a very quick trip to a friends... lots of driving, very little R & R, or exercise, etc... Always so good to get back home!

Looking forward to your conversations...

Oh, we bought a "dehydrator"... Going to dry peaches, pears & nectarines. I also bought some kale today & will see how that drys.

Sooo, Dr. VH has a twin brother! How lucky we both are. Loved reading your post Judy, such positive steps towards getting your dear Mum the health care she needs, hope the pet scan brings the good news we are all praying for and the surgery can proceed. Prayers it all goes well and she will be on her way to recovery in time for those grand babies to arrive. Does SS have any children/grands?

Kudos to all of you who exercise and go to the gym, I know it is good for the body and the soul and joining with friends makes it fun.

Visit with Dr VH went fine, changed meds again. He stated that we have been successful in keeping me out of hospital but still working on making me feel good. Made changes, see him in a month. One f the meds he took me off of was one that made me fall asleep easily and quickly every night, have always had trouble sleeping. Problem was, I wanted to sleep for hours and no energy when I was awake :-(

SO glad Dr. VH is listening to you and working with you.
I'm a bad sleeper, too, so might have enjoyed being able to sleep easily - but I agree - feeling "no energy" would not work for me, either. I hope you can find just the right combo to make you feel more like your old self (as long as it is out of the hospital!).

Debby I have an old dehydrator and have often used it to make beef jerky and turkey jerky. In the past I've dried apples (mine turn out like leather - not snappy). DO please let us know how your kale comes out? <-- love that icon

Mary Kay makes exercise sound so.... inviting....

Will do Judy. I put it in this morning. While setting the dial I noticed it has all kinds of purposes... drying herbs, veggies, fruits, jerky... temps for yogurt & rising bread! Cool, hey? (not that I all that anymore)!

Yep, I gotta get moving today too... kind of messes you up when you travel & then so busy first day back.

Drs sound good. Glad you have access to good specialists.

Well, I'm back to report on the "dehydrated Kale" I probably didn't put enough oil & garlic on it... kind of hard, its so curly. But it was a good experiment & I got to use my new gismo. No more Kale for me... I'll throw that stuff into other cooked veggies & see if I can eat it that way.

I took Molly for a good, long quad run. Then did my 40 minutes on the elliptical in my "cold" basement. Pretty pleased that I was able to do the full time, since I've missed almost a week.

Someone reformulated the international creamer that I bought. Its gross! I've been using a different brand, which they were out of... after maneuvering on my nutrition counter, I see that half & half is a much better choice! Who knew?? (you guys did)! And I found that I like it too, while traveling sometimes that was the only choice. Can't wait to go to town & buy some!

Hope everyone is having a fun Friday night!

Well, seems Dr VH and I spoke too soon. Headache and BP too high yesterday, woke up to worse today. Thought my BP monitor couldn't possibly be correct so I ran by the nearby fire station to have them check it. 184/125, so off I go in the ambulance with 3 caring young men to the ER. Too about 4 hours and 2 additional meds to get it down, then it went too low. Home tonight but once again, just wiped out will call Dr VH office tomorrow. Prob a rebound effect of stopping one of the meds I asked to be taken off of.

And so on and so forth

Hi there!

Oh no Buffy! So sorry that happened. Sure is a good thing you checked it!

It was a delightful Sunday. Wonderful worship & fellowship service. Followed by lunch with the kiddo's. DH & kiddo's went to the lake for a swim. So, a quiet afternoon for me. I relaxed & did a quad-run with Molly, & elliptical.

I bought some half & half & am getting used to it. Also decided to go lower carbs today, so eliminated my oat bran breakfast. Replaced with Greek yogurt. Then used that for my afternoon snack as well. Will see if it messes with my system I quite enjoyed it. It would be beneficial for me to discover alternative "easy" meals... kind of stuck in a rut
Hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday.

Oh no Buffy! But I'm so glad you were so pro-active and went to the fire station. I know it was a pain but better safe than sorry. And look at the bright side, you might get to gaze at Dr. VH again in the near future. Seriously, I'm glad you're ok for now and glad you're pursuing what you need to do/change to feel better.

I have a massage scheduled tomorrow after my workout. I can't wait!!!!

My youngest great granchild had his 1st birthday today. To all my facebook friends, please go take a look at a couple pics I posted. He really enjoyed his little cake!! He's such a little doll!
