I'm impatiently waiting for another great-niece to arrive. I sure don't know what's taking so long!

I went and picked up some fresh, farm eggs today. I haven't had any of those for quite a while. There always so pretty and bright orange and taste so yummy.

It's so hot here! We really need rain!!

Congratulations Gramma!

Judy I'm having to battle apricots here in Calif. We have a friend that has brought Dh a bunch from his orchard. I think it's time to get the ole dehydrator out.

Though I am a gramma, this was a great-niece that was born today. But thanks for the congrats anyway. I feel pretty proud. Two great-nieces in 2 months, not a bad score.

Hi Y'all!
A more 'sane' day here today. First one since last Friday. Its hot here, 81 degrees, which hopefully will make the locals happy. They haven't had much summer yet. As for me, - Arizona was enough! A little harder to take the daily walks, but manageable.
Sorry to leave you all alone Judy
Congrats on the new great-niece Sandy
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves & doing well on their Ju-Ly challenge.

I've been reading about cooking bacon in water? I tried it and am NOT impressed. The oven method is my favorite.

Hi ladies and Jim,

Happy Anniversary, Sharon..Enjoy the day.. 49 is a good "number"..Apricots are so good, too.

Oh, yes, Porter Peaches are nommie..Dh has 2 more peaches left from Costco..I'm staying away from them..Too bad fruit is so sugary..That is why it tastes so good..LOL.

Sandy: How exciting for you, Great Aunt..

Dh is mowing the farm today..Hot as the debil..He got a straw hat and is wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans..

Yes, I was wondering how baking bacon in water would be..Didn't sound that great myself..

AAARRRGGGHHH, lost my post, and I had notes to each of you. Congrats to all, peaches and apricots are yummy, Kroger has canned apricots in splenda I get for Grant, Carolyn had a busy day, yada yada yada.

I held an event last night to help a friend who owns a business. She is a RN and has started a business in the past 4-5 years where she does skin treatments, lazer, injections and fillers, sells Obagi skin care and also carries Jane Iredale make up. I have been using their products for about 3 years and love the makeup. You gals know I love skin care and makeup!! Playtime for me.

Anyway, kept telling friends about the makeup, how light feeling it is, natural looking and mineral based, good for the skin. The owner, Becky and I have talked and I told her that I knew the makeup line was not really their money maker but that it was such a great way to introduce people to their products and services. So, last night, I invited 12 people to come to a makeover party. Jane Iredale provided a make up artist to come do that makeovers, the owner made up free gift bags for each guest and also offered a 20% discount to everyone. I brought wine and the owner brought fresh fruit. I was a little nervous because they stressed that since they had brought in the makeup artist that I had to guarantee 6 people would show up. Well, it was a fun, fun night. 9 people showed up, the other 3 want to see the line and are making appts., they just could not come last night. Each gal, in turn, cleansed their face, we took a close up with their own phone, then we got to watch as the artist did their makeup to their preference, then we took a followup picture on their phones for them to keep. This was mostly all my dinner club gals who have been friends for over 20 years so we were all very comfy showing our naked faces, and had so much fun. Wine was flowing, laughter and more laughter. Very successful event. Owner surprised me with a nice gift that I did not expect at all, she just is a great person and always treats me well, so I wanted to do it both for her and my friends!

All my Dallas family is gone, so will be a quiet weekend around here.

Despite the lack of a personal note....

What a neat party! My hair and makeup have not been updated since about 8th grade. Well, maybe my makeup a little bit.
It's my least favorite thing to do - makeup - but I would have loved that party.

What a great idea about taking their before & after pics on their phones.
And wine...

Yeah, after being in AZ a few weeks ago & suffering 130 degrees on the highways (road reflection), on our motorcycle... I know heat. But for here in British Columbia, 81 is hot. Yep, 20 degrees is "nice" in winter... try -35. tires freeze flat on the bottom.

Wow.

We were working in Wyoming for a year and spent a great deal of time waiting for the temps to be above zero.

-35 must be breathtaking.

Hi everyone..

It is hard to find the perfect climate year round..Great summers in NH, but cold winters.. Hot summers in KS, and sometimes cold winters..We need two homes..LOL..One for summer and one for winter..LOL.

Buffy, if you could find Twenty Feet from Stardom, I think you would like it a lot..It is probably at an artsy theater..

I was down to 143 this morning..I am blaming my "gain" on the peaches, etc..

Yes, that is showing at our artsy theater but it is further than I want to go today. Think I will settle on Red.

Is Red a sequel? If so I thought the first one was good. Had Bruce Willis in it?
Then I was offended Bruce Willis should be thought old enough to retire...

Hi!

Quick check in - it's raining - at the beach!
I'm hoping it's stopped soon so I can get a bike ride in before the rental place takes them back - we've been getting in 10-15 miles a day!
Lots of walking too - 5-10 miles!

This new IBS diagnosis plus being on vacation has really confused me and made it hard to eat.
I hope I haven't gained a ton of weight when I get back - it's NOT eating bread, pasta, etc that helped me take the weight off. What will eating it do to me??
Very scared!

I think it's starting to clear up and I'm going stir crazy - I'm going to find a niece or nephew and drag them out for a walk with me!

Hugs to all!

I made bacon today, again. This time I slow-baked it. 3 pounds laid on stackable cooling racks, baked for about 2 hours in a 250* oven. Let me say, this is by far the VERY best bacon I've ever eaten in my entire life! And I've had a lot of bacon. I've baked it before, lots of times, but I've never cooked it low and slow. But I will again! You can bet your sweet patootie on that.
I've been having BLT salads and haven't even missed the bread. So yummy.
We're going to the lake tomorrow. Just for the day but we'll be there in time for breakfast and will stay for dinner with a day of boating in the middle. It's supposed to be a tad cooler; I sure hope they're right this time.
