Sharon! I hope you all have a wonderful trip.
I think it's kind of nice to occasionally be forced to be without internet.

Not for me.... but I've heard other people say they like it.

I really hope you have a great trip.

Oh Judy, so sorry your Mom's still having issues. It seems like its taking longer this time. Hope they can figure out how to fix 'er!
Hope you're able to catch up on the work. Its so hard to get behind.

Have fun Sharon. Hope it is more fun than work! I'm with Judy... not for me, lived in a tent in BC rain & mosquito's for 2 months one year & then every summer for years (at camp)... not my idea of fun. But I know a lot of people who do! Do you use a tent? or camper? A camper is definitely more comfortable.

Had a restful day today. Dh went berry picking.

We have a 17' trailer that we pull. It's just right for the 2 of us and our 2 rat terriers. We love the wilderness camping and go into the Sierra Nevada Mts. Just below Yosemite National Park. It's so peaceful there.

Oh good! That's the way to go! Maybe someone will offer "free internet" at the campground too!

Hi gals and Jim,

Oh..have fun Sharon on your trip..Sounds lovely and nice and cool.

Judy, hope your mom gets sprung from the hospital soon..

I made the lemon cheesecake..and it was delightful. One recipe I found left off the sour cream so I did that and it turned out great..

Welcome back, MK....Florida sounds like fun..

Sandy: How is your granddaughter doing?? I was wondering about her the other day..

Mother update (thanks for reminding me Sandy).

They say normal lipase is 100. (have not checked)
She was admitted with lipase at 14,000 (despite what I may have said earlier).
3 or 4 weeks ago admitted with lipase at 8,000.
Yesterday, lipase was 380.
Today, 38. Released at about 4:30 this afternoon.
*whew*

Hospitalist not encouraging about diet having one single thing to do with this..

She feels completely and totally well. Not drained, not sad, not weak.
She has, however, lost 10 pounds since the 3 or 4 weeks of the last hospital stay.
Down to 123.....

Judy, I think not knowing what is causing it is worse than knowing. I sure hope they get to the bottom of this for your mom's sake, and yours.

Carolyn, My DGD is doing so much better. Thank you to everybody who prayed for her. She still has to see the pain management therapists and physical therapists regularly, but if everything keeps going the way it is now, I think the worst may be over. I fervently pray that it is! She's very interested in doing what she can do to help others who are suffering with this and the Drs and excited about that. I think they're using her in some training material and some printed material about this disease or syndrome. I'm really not sure what to call it, but am glad she's doing better now. She starts high school in 3 weeks and is very excited. She will be attending regular public school. She was home schooled for all but 1 1/2 years. Last year she had to quit when she was hit with the APS (amplified pain syndrome).
Thanks for asking.

So true. It's becoming a worry that this is life-threatening rather than painful for a short time and then annoying.

Your DGD sounds like a wonderful soul. I am proud to pray for her! (and you!)

Hi!

Sandy - Your DGD sounds like a very special young lady! I'm sure you're all so proud of her!!

Judy - Yay for mom!!

Good news for everyone!!

Florida was fun and I didn't want to come home!
I'm slowly gaining control of the IBS.
Merlin can't seem to get rid of the fluid sac on his elbow.
We were at the vet twice last week and will probably have to go again tomorrow.
Sigh.

Busy day tomorrow too - I already have 8 places to be on my list.
But I'm exercising a lot, so that's good, right?

Hi ladies and Jim

So glad your mom is out of the hospital !!!

Sandy, will keep praying for your dgd as she starts high school. It is a new experience and it will be great for her to be with her friends. Helping others is always admirable.

Poor Merlin. dogs gotta chew. Glad your vacation was fun. Our dd went to Amelia Island last yr and loved it. Glad your IBS is getting better.

Wearing my hot pants to the gym under my shorts. How cool is that???

Will report back. I wore them around the house on Saturday and my lower half was sweating just wearing them. Lol

Yep - round 3 of pancreatitis (sp?). Her last bout was a month ago.
And yes, she has her gall bladder.

We went to a gastroenterologist who ordered an MRI, which she has now had. She has what he says is a very rare condition of having two ducts coming out of her gallbladder, instead of just the typical one duct shared, I think, with the pancreas?? No stones, and no sludge in her gallbladder, they say.

Her lipase was 38 when she left the hospital yesterday, so her pancreas has calmed down, at least for the time being. We have a follow-up appointment with the gastro August 1. She walked into his office begging to have her gallbladder removed! Maybe it is the problem and removing it would "fix" her, but so far we can't find a doctor to agree with us.

The hospitalist noted her dual-duct condition but also said the upcoming endoscopy the gastro wanted could cause another mild flare-up of the pancreas.

Happy to hear any opinions. But as it stands, we'll hear if August 1 will bring us any news.

Neither the hospitalist nor the gastro were impressed by low-fat or high-fat or any type of eating. They did not see foods as a trigger to her condition.

Thanks for asking.

Hi ladies..and Jim.

Wow..was I hot doing my 2 mile walk at the gym. LOL..I kept them on for a while afterwards, but took them off when I went to Bible Study..It will be easier in the winter..if I last that long.

Is your sweet mom taking any supplements for her pancreatitis? I know on my cat board, there are many healing human supplements that are listed..Didn't know if your mom's doctor recommended anything.

Laundry..not much going on this afternoon..Might walk on the deck for a little while and enjoy the weather, which is nice today..

I should join that cat board!

She was already taking a probiotic, vitamin d3, biotin, probably others I can't think of right now...

Hi friends,
It was a busy Monday. I work alone on Mondays, but today had lots of visitors.
I took Molly to the vet to get better mite medicine (she's been scratching her ear sore). They looked at it & sold me meds for fungus! Happy I went in, as the mite meds were just irritating it & the oil just soothing the itch, but it wouldn't have got better. The new meds should help in 2 days, she said.
Hope your Mom can get real treatment that stops the problem. Seems to me, if she had 2 openings all her life, it should still be fine... unnecessary surgery isn't wise & could cause even more problems, couldn't it? The people I know who've had their gall bladders removed still suffer greatly for what they eat, far as I've seen. (that's got to be at least 2 cents worth)!
Hope you're all doing great!

Apparently the 2 openings can do just fine until a person is older.
I'm really not sure at all.
I hope to learn more....

Yay for Molly's new medicine. Our brat pug sometimes gets ear problems.

Hi ladies..

Chef salad for dinner tonight.. Easy for sure.

Judy, sometimes I think the "cat experts" know more about health than regular doctors..LOL.

Maybe 2 openings allow too much bile in? ????

New lights installed in the computer room/office. Dh couldn't see what he was doing..
Now we have to clean up..LOL..

Check in later..

My gosh, Carolyn - that is a good article.

Sometimes I think we care more about our pets than ourselves... or maybe it's easier to speak about their health than human health which sometimes devolves into argument.

Thank you, friend!

Good morning..

Off to exercise, then haircut..or trim, I am hoping..

Judy, I do think people do take care of their pets better than themselves sometimes..It is the fur mommy in us..

Akk..tomorrow is August 1st..We need a new name..Help, help, everyone..

Going to make Carolyn's LC blueberry cream cheese coffeecake for tomorrow's ladies prayer meeting at my house. I also have some HC little breads that I bought from the
Amish ladies on Saturday.

I will weigh tomorrow if I can get back to 144..LOL..I think I can as I will be perfect today.. I need to stay away from Braums or at least not order a single dip in a cup when dh wants to go there.
