Alex is doing very good with his excellent nursing Mom!

Sounds like you did great on your clothes shopping.

Debbie, I do a lot of online shopping but hardly ever for clothes, we have every clothing store you can imagine here and multiple ones of each.

I woke up in the middle of the night, again, so have been up for a couple of hours. Will go back to bed and watch the morning news and see if I fall back to sleep.

We had rain yesterday, we only got a little bit but it rained a lot all around us. I think there is a chance of more today, then it will clear off.

Anyone have big plans for Mother's Day? Going to Gatsby with one or two of DD's tomorrow and then to a nice brunch with DD#2 and family on Sunday.

My DD is having a "reveal" party (will reveal the gender of the baby) this Saturday and DH's mother is coming in for that and will spend the night with us. My SS married into a H-U-G-E family who never misses any occasion to gather - all here in Tulsa. Sometimes my mother goes to their gatherings, in fact sometimes we all do, but I'm hoping my mother will come over and have a little lunch with us.

And everyone can tell me how big my clothes are.

Oh Judy, how exciting about the "reveal" party.

I did go back to sleep, slept too late then. Oh well, don't have a lot that has to be done today so I guess it doesn't matter.

Do any of you ladies shop at Chicos? I like that store, the quality is good and they have the clothes arranged so that the matching is pretty much done for you, good for someone like me. And usually, the people who work there are very nice and very helpful if you would like them to be. I used to like Coldwater Creek as well but seems like their quality slipped a couple of years ago, so, haven't been back much sense. Oh, another is Black/White, which I believe is owned by Chicos.

Hi everyone..

I don't buy clothes on-line cuz I have a "flexible" figure..LOL..Chico's? I love to look, but
never buy anything there..I do most of my shopping at Christopher and Banks, Dillards, and Penneys..We have a Goody's in town and sometimes I can find stuff there..

Oh..I hope my Des Moines gals will wait to see Gatsby with me in Lawrence..Two years ago we saw "Bridesmaids" which was hysterical..I don't think my dh would appreciate the humor, though..

Alex is doing quite well..At the beginning it was a round the clock event, but now I am more relaxed as his "runs" are longer..Dh once said, "We don't have a cat, we have a new baby." However, he has never had to do anything with him...YET..

This is funny on me..Dh texted me from Germany saying he had called the office and found out Brett was home sick..Well, I hadn't had my real coffee yet, and I was in line at McD's for one and I read it "homesick"..I asked myself how could he be "homesick"?..LOL..Duh...He has a bad cold and allergies, so he is resting..Is this the first sign of Alzheimers'????

Oh, a Reveal party would be funnnnnnn....How exciting for you all..

We are going out for brunch on Sunday..Ds made the reservation after I showed him the
ad in the paper..

Hugs all around..

That's funny Carolyn! And honestly, did Gary do much when you did have a new baby in the house?? I know my DH didn't. Nothing like these modern dads who can do it all and DO. Their wives give them no choice, lol.

I've looked at Chico's too but never bought anything. I like Penney's (now that they fired the dumb guy who tried to ruin their whole store), Macy's, even Target and Walmart for t-shirts, etc.

My son usually has us out for a bbq lunch although I haven't heard anything about it yet. Which is not unusual. My DGD is finishing her 5th week of all day therapy today. She'll continue with weekly visits as she continues to progress. She's made a lot of improvement but still has to keep working on it. So they all might just want to crash this weekend and I certainly don't blame them. Then I'll see DD Sunday afternoon after they get home from camping.

Oh, ladies! I cleaned out my jewelry box and separated out a few things that were broken, I didn't like, etc. There was some 14k, some 10k and some sterling silver pieces in my little pile. I took it to this gal who buys gold and you'll never guess what I got for it!!!!! $625 CASH!!! I told my DH last night I didn't even know if I had enough to even take it up there and that I'd die of embarrassment if she said she wasn't interested in such a small amount. Lol. Unbelievable!! Believe me, I'm not talking about a lot of stuff here. A couple broken chains, old bracelets, an add-a-bead necklace, (remember those?) and a few old rings, including my old class ring. This is just crap that has been taking up room in my jewelry box for years!! I'm still just totally shocked! That certainly made my day! And gold has been dropping in price so if you all are thinking of doing the same thing I did, don't delay.

I love Penny's... looking forward to going to one on our trip.

Wow Sandy, that's great for something you were calling junk. Cool.

Our moto-trip tonight got canceled. Weather's going to turn rainy. Need to work on other tax return anyway.

Hope you all have a good evening

Hi gals and Jim.

No Gary did very little with the babies now that I remember back. LOL

Wow Sandy that is amazing. I didn't know they took silver, too. I will have to look through the jewelry box. I have a gold filled thick bangle bracelet. I bet they don't take that.

Off to bed.

It is fly lady tomorrow cleaning day. Dh
Will be home around midnight so I will have all day!!

Debby, sorry about your trip being cancelled.

I think some do take gold filled but you wouldn't get very much for it since it has so little gold. She told me that she has to collect an awful lot of gold filled before she even melts it down b/c it takes so much to get just a little gold. She did take one gold filled chain of mine though. At first she wasn't going to and when I told her I was probably just going to throw it away gave me $3 for it!

DH had to work today and I should clean. But probably won't, lol. I'm loving my book and can hardly put it down. I'll be sad when I finish it. It's the 2nd in the Century Trilogy by Ken Follett. The 3rd doesn't get released until next year.

Thanks, Sandy.

Poor Gary is sitting beside a stinky person on his overseas flight. Some European peeps don't wear deodorant.

Started my cleaning. Where does all this dust come from???

We just had a little (welcome) rain and then some (unwelcome) hail!
It was short-lived and only marble-sized.

Hi Sharon!

Debby glad the cancelled trip was not the long trip you're looking forward.

Sandy I'd love to get lost in a book. I'm still so busy catching up on things from working and whatever other excuses I'm not ready to do that yet. I think you "efficient" people are able to make time for the things you wish! Someday.....

Carolyn - smart son. My kids are taking me out later - not tomorrow - so we can enjoy our meals.

Reveal party! Making salad, DH smoked a lot of ribs and some chicken breast tenders for the fat or pork phobic. Not judging!

I think it's getting nicer - the sun's out now here, too.

I wish you all a wonderful Mom's Day! And I can't wait to hear the reveal news!

Sharon, no, I'm reading a real book this time. And the first one was a real book too. I had to get on a waiting list at my library to get them both. They're very popular! And reading is about all I got done today too.
We did watch Hunger Games finally tonight but now I'm back to my book.

Carolyn, the first one is Fall of Giants and then Winter of the World. I forget what the name is of the one that's not out yet but I have several months to wait for that one.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

How fun Judy, they will wonder soon why they even wanted a boy or a girl because the one they have will be perfect?

Sandy, I have read both oh those books, very good.

The Great Gatsby was very good, different but DD and I both loved it

Oh Judy, how exciting! One of each!!! And this is both's first, correct? Did they use the cake idea for the reveal?

A spackling party. How interesting, lol. Although, if you can find guests to attend, what a great way to make a job fun! I've often thought there should be housecleaning coops. Five women, they all clean one house each day. Or pick one a week and rotate. My aunt told me when she first got married that she and her neighbor did that. That way they visited and enjoyed the time so much more. She's now going to be 86 here in a couple of weeks! And to this day still hates housework, lol.

I could be best friends with your aunt, Sandy.
If I could get together with friends to do ANY job, I could do ANY job - not kidding.
It's funny - I chose a line of work that is very solitary and studious - the exact opposite of my personality.

Yes, one of each, so we are very happy - and would have been no matter what, I guess. And you are right, Carolyn, any wishes for one gender or the other are surely already gone.

Yes, Sandy I picked up the cake and somehow managed NOT to poke a cake tester in the bottom to see early. If I'd picked it up earlier I totally would have cheated. HA HA!

Spackling party = genius.

Morning!

What a wonderful weekend, Mother's Day, grandchildren, reveal parties, and sounds like Jim working lots of hours!!!

Working together parties are a fun way of getting everything that needs done, done. Used to participate in more things like this in Iowa than it seems like I do anymore or in TX but I think it is the difference in being a young farm wife among many others in Iowa, we mostly were stay at home moms and then after moving, as I made friends in TX we were all working moms, not much chance to have that type of activity. Used to be a lot of fun though, have been to wallpapering parties, paint the house parties, inside and out, sewing parties, cooking baking, candy making, fun days.

My weekend was filled with happiness with my kids and grandkids. Phone calls, face time, flowers delivered to the door, chocolate covered strawberries delivered, out to a movie, out to brunch, patio time with another, what an awesome weekend and what an awesome family I am so fortunate to have.

One of my DD's posted a picture of my siblings and I, taken at Easter back in 1955, I couldn't help but look at the 4 of us and the now more than 40 or so children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that have come to us over the years. So sad that my parent's never got to see any of that, they would have been so happy and proud of the family that came from their marriage. We had lost our parent's in a fire the summer before that picture was taken.

Lots to do this week, DH and I went to the Dallas Farmers Market yesterday on our way home from brunch and the "cats" picked up several plants for "Mommy" for mother's day, so I have some more planting to do. And laundry, and deskwork, on and on. No spackling though Carolyn!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
