Hi ladies I'm new here. I have been low carbing on and off since 2010. It did stabilize my weight which was amazing for a guy who can look at a sweet and gain a pound. so no real weight loss for the first three years but I knew there was something to this.....for sure.
Then I found high fat good fat wonderful fat!

March 10th I was just about 330 OMG I said it out loud!

Today I was 302 all I have done is shift the macros to 60-70Fat 30-40Protein and keep the carbs as low as possible.

Total cals between 1000-1200 per day just so as not to be hungry.

I am blown away. I wish I had found higher fat 3 years ago but better now than never.

I am so so excited.

April challenge I'm in if its OK for a dude to join.

Cheers.......Jim

Jim, Congrats on the weight loss! That's not many calories for a man... hope you're not starving yourself.

Cindy, I didn't know (or forgot) you had low thyroid. Were you getting symptoms before you got tested? I'm still messing with my dose too. One day I hope to get it regulated... & hopefully it will stay put! 128 is a good number too... and buff arms, wow! you go girl! What you doing? Weights?

Congrats Sharon! Good Job Carolyn!

I said I was going to weigh in early, and I did at 141.6. I'm glad I did b/c today I weighed 144!!! Birthday, basketball and Easter weekend combined is a bad combo for my weight, lol. I've started an excel sheet with my daily weights and it gives me a monthly average. I think I'll start posting that as a real gauge of how I'm doing since I'm in the maintenance lane of my weight. Maybe that way I won't hate those weigh in days that happen to hit on the day after a big weekend so much. On the good side though, even with this big weekend, my weight is still within my "window" of 140-145. And today I'm eating CLEAN so I know I'll drop back down to a comfortable level quickly.

So average weight for:
March 142.5
Feb 143.5
Jan 142.7
Dec 142.8
Nov 143.9
Oct 144.8
Sept 143.6
Aug 144
Jul 142.3

That's as far back as I have on that spreadsheet, but it gives a snapshot of how I'm doing along this journey that never ends. Even when you reach your destination, you just keep on keeping on.

We are getting new health insurance and just found out that they don't cover compounds at all! So I need to start shopping for my hormone compound to find the cheapest cash price I can. They also will not cover my DH's medicine he takes for osteoarthritis, which he's taken for forever!! I'm afraid we're in for some major adjusting with this new plan. Ugh!

Hi!

I miss a couple of days and I'm so far behind!!

I'll catch up eventually, but wanted to say hi and of course, show you my new shoes!!

Jim!!! Great to have you and you're doing wonderfully!!!!

We had a lovely weekend - I kind of saw the kids ~ but it was much too hectic!
I take DS20 back to the train today and hopefully pick up the dog - and hope he's OK . . . it was rough getting him to the kennel . . . more later on that.

so skipping exercise to get everything done.

But I probably lost weight this weekend - does EVERYTHING have to have cheese??
I even skipped dinner out with everyone on Saturday night because it was a pizza place - supposedly gourmet, but the only salads were a side salad, dinner salad or Caesar. Um . . . no.

Anyway - so much to comment on, but on a tight morning schedule - BBL with Indies!

MK what darling shoes. Are they comfortable? The style is nice.

Breakfast of bacon and eggs is now behind me and looks like the rain was nothing but misty shower. So looks like another in the 70's kind of day.

Going to try to get some walking at our lake park with the fur guys if my knee will let me. Also have planed sometime for a haircut. Take care and be all you can be. See you later.

I was tired and gaining a bit but being tired is what clued me in. When I saw my hormones had all jumped up, I knew my thyroid would be low as hormone levels (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, DHEA) all suppress my thyroid and I was correct. Mt FT3 was 2.6 (2.0-4.4 normal range) and my FT4 was .81 (.82- 1.77). Even though this is barely in range, it is low normal so we went up from 2 to 3 grains.

Hello to Jim and Lora!

Buffy rest up then get back with us.

MK, Easter can definitely be a whirlwind - you have a lovely family and I know you enjoyed yourselves. Just not enough time, it seems...

Sandy I'll enjoy watching your fine-tuning. I think I would be happy weighing 145. I weighed in at 152 yesterday and I'm still enjoying where I am right now.
Obviously if I were going UP, I'd get on it! But who knows what the spring and summer will bring? I might get buff!

None of my prescriptions are covered by insurance - but I don't take many (yet).

Jim, do make sure you are eating enough calories for a guy - that does seem quite low. And I completely get the broken metabolism - I weighed well over 200 pounds several years ago (I should check and get the exact number so I can testify with authority!! ) and things I've read tell me I'll never have a "normal" metabolism.
At least you've discovered the high fat - that was the winner for me, too. Congrats!
And what a great loss you've already had!

MK - love those shoes, forgot to say.

Sharon, hooray hooray things are showing up on the scale!!

Carolyn and everyone - hugs to you.
Taxes today.....

Lora: We need a Cassandra picture.. What a cute age..

Judy: You will get there..You are doing so well...

Baking some highcarb cakes for church..No licking my fingers allowed..

Goodness..Check out Rachel Ray's show today. Some chef was making chicken pasta from chicken/ice/eggwhites all whirled together in a strong blender..Then he put it in
a squeeze bottle..Got some simmer water ready and squirted out the spaghetti in a large circle..I have all the stuff to do this..I think I need to crush my ice first with my ice crusher cuz my blender isn't very powerful..

Carolyn that does sound interesting. We sure loved the zoodle alfredo the other night. It was a big hit with Dh.

Lora. I think we all need to see a picture of little Cassandra.

I better do some things before BIL and wife stop by. It's always fun seeing them when they come into town to do some shopping.

See you all later. And No licking fingers for Carolyn..

The chef performing this on the Rachael Ray show is Rocco DiSpirito if you need to google it.
Here's the recipe and WOW that video looked interesting.
I have a condiment bottle I bought when I failed to make gluc noodles (not done trying, though!)

I notice they do not say how much ice - kind of looked like about a cup?

home » recipes » Rocco DiSpirito's Pasta Al Pomodoro
Aired on: April 1, 2013

Ingredients

Ice
3 tablespoons egg white powder
6 ounces cold chicken breast, cut into 1 inch chunks

Yields: 4
Preparation

Boil 4 quarts of water in a large pot. Once the water is boiling add 2 tablespoons of salt. Preheat broiler. Place the water and the egg white powder in the beaker of a blender, and blend on low speed until all the powder has dissolved, then add the chicken breast and blend on high speed until smooth and glossy. Place the contents of the blender into a squeeze bottle and set in the refrigerator.

Turn the boiling water down to low heat and squeeze the chicken mixture out of the squeeze bottle in a steady stream into the boiling water into strands the same length as spaghetti, about 10 inches until there is no more room on the surface of the water. Let the noodles cook for 30 seconds then remove them with a strainer or spider, set them aside in a bowl and repeat until all of the chicken mixture is used.

LOL..I think the broiler is for the rest of the recipe..

I made it..My squeeze bottle was a pastry squeeze bottle and didn't squeeze very well..Started off fine, but I couldn't get anything out after a little bit. I'm thinking heavy plastic ziplock bag with the corner cut out??? It would be easier to squeeze.

The recipe needed salt..Maybe the salt in the water takes care of that as I didn't salt the water..duh..

I used my Bullet..and pre-crushed the ice with a mallet as I know my Bullet couldn't get it done.

Next time I would mix it all in a bowl, then put it in the blender. The egg white powder
is easier to mix in with a spoon, than a blender.

It was good.. Let me know if anyone tries this..

WHOOPS! yes - it was for the rest of the recipe. I didn't proof-read before pasting!

I LOVE that you already tried this Carolyn!! I know I won't make it for awhile - full schedule for a few days. Was the texture meaty? Did it taste chicken-y?

Hi,

Well, I didn't get many strings out before my bottle quit squeezing. It was firmish and had a bland taste. I ended putting the rest of the chicken into little blobs. And ate those with butter and salt. LoL. That chef made the squeezing look so easy. I think he must have had a bottle full of chicken which would squeeze easier.
Dying for one of you to try it.

Yeah, Cindy staying the same is good.
