Yes, start with the first season!!!

Buffy - so you're saying you DIDN'T take his picture!?!

Carolyn - I love Arrested Development. They're starting a new season for Netflix with all the same actors as the previous series. I need to watch from the beginning so i can catch up again.

Debby - I've been hungry for a while too - but I think I'm just thirsty . . . .

Buffy, that is wonderful news!! I think I like your Dr, even sight unseen. You could always stalk him online. Most docs have their pics online now so I think they expect it. Hahaha.

I think I failed to say welcome to all the newbies! Jump in, post away and let us get to know you as you get to know us.

I love artichokes in a recipe but have never quite gotten eating them plain down pat. I need to eat them with an expert in case I'm doing it wrong. Imagine that! Me not knowing how to eat something, lol.

I had a lovely lunch with dad today. I had a salad and grilled scallops. I swear I could eat those every single day! And I had a good dental visit. And after all that I went to Stein Mart and Gordmans and found a couple new things for spring. Plus I found a red swimming suit, which I've been looking for for a couple of years now. We have a big Valentine's celebration every year down on the beach and I decided I needed a bright red suit to blend with the decorations, lol. Anyway, I bought one and I really like it which is so unusual b/c trying on swimsuits is not at the top of my list of enjoyable activities.

I don't know what's going on with DH. His fasting BSs have been elevated lately and he's not eating any more carbs than usual and what carbs he does eat are veggies and whatever is naturally found in foods like eggs, cheese, etc. I told him I think he needs to ask his dr for something to help him so we'll see if he does.

Wowza..I love red and it is certainly your color, too.. Well, just send your dh over here, I can take his blood hourly and watch the rise, then dose him accordingly along with Alex.
Hmmm..yes, he does need to see the doctor and maybe some new meds or an increase.
I forgot if he is on any meds for blood sugar.

We definitely need to scope out Buffy's doctor. Is he on Facebook? LOLOL

Alex will help.

I think that red swimsuit is a fantastic idea - what a great find!

I loved Arrested Development, too - so quirky and funny.

No, DH is not on any meds.....yet. I'll tell him about the Dr Carolyn Pet & DH Hospital and see if I can convince him to check in. He and Alex could commiserate together.

The great part about that suit is it was priced at $92 and I got it for $39!! And it's a Jantzen. If it's as good as my last Jantzen it should last me the rest of my life, lol.

I noticed under Sandy's WOE Barry Groves so I bought the book. Thanks Sandy!

I also noticed he was just a guest on LLVLC. I guess another book??

669: LLVLC Classic – Dr. Barry Groves On The State Of Modern Health | The Livin La Vida Low-Carb Show

I'm gonna give it a listen, see what Mr Groves is all about.

Finally got the Avi to work that's me somewhere over Indonesia in December 2012 pretty tubby stuffed in the jet but help has arrived!!!

Thanks all!

Hi

That interview is a classic. It was done several years ago. We love Barry. Honestly he was the first one to say Watch your Protein like your picture Jim.

Sandy your Dh might need some metformin. If he does tell him to get the Extended Release. No side effects. Yes, Alex would love a new friend.

Thanks Carolyn, well you could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out I could make sugar out of protein. Now I know why the low carb diet stabilized my weight, but didn't quite deliver the goods.

It was news to me, too, that one could over-do protein.
I'm very close to my goal weight with a new realization that fat is my friend.

Good morning.

Yes, Dr. Atkins didn't live long enough to stress the protein dilemma. Although he does say in his book that 52 percent if protein can act like carbs. Plus Dr. Bernstein who is a diabetes specialist stresses that, too. He tells his diabetic patients to start
With 4 ounces per meal and if they can't lose
Weight go back to 3 ounces per meal.

Yes, fat is our friend. It took me a while to get my head wrapped around that.

Catch you later.

Welcome Jim. Great picture!
I too was amazed at the protein into sugar data. That's one of the hardest parts for me as I love meat! But I keep trying.

DH talked to his Dr and though he is cutting edge on a lot of things, he told him not to worry about his BS as the old guidelines used 120 fasting BS as the number to worry about, not 100. I told DH I'm not sold on his answer so we'll see how round 2 goes. I at least want him to go for another A1c to see if that's rising or staying the same. And luckily I can just order that for him at our local lab and find out ourselves.

Morning!

Jim, good picture and good to have you here. Men usually do extremely well on LC and the newer knowledge that we can over eat on protein has helped many people who struggled before.

Really enjoyed my outing with my GF yesterday, pedicures, shopping and lunch. Felt good to enjoy it without being so tired I wanted to run home.

Another cloudy, gloomy day here and I have a bad headache today, do think this one is weather related.

Office work that must be completed today on my schedule.

Aw Buffy - so sorry about the headache.
I'm so glad you had fun yesterday, though!

I'm still cooking today - getting myself ready for only a few days visiting relatives (3 different towns/cities) and probably over-doing. But I also might want to share!

Lizzie - I am a little boring in my typical eating. I do that so I can keep track easier and when I splurge, it's low carb, mostly lower protein and probably has a stick of butter in it!

Breakfast is usually two eggs in coconut oil or bacon grease.
Sometimes I eat breakfast so late I don't care about lunch.
If I care about lunch it's often chicken broth with an ounce or two of cream cheese and half an avocado. Or chicken salad, emphasis on the salad with full-fat dressing.

I also enjoy coconut flour pancakes for breakfast sometimes, or almond flour waffles. I'm a fan of almond butter on both those things.

Dinner is almost always some type of protein + vegetables (non-starchy).

You've found a group of people, however, who also enjoy a variety of baked goods. It has made this way of eating feel like I'm eating like a king, but I've lost weight while eating like a king. I love my food - took awhile to get it right, but I think I'm in a groove!

Hi everyone..

I do need a Pet Clinic..LOL..I'm sure my dh would be thrilled..LOL..

Nice day out..Maybe we are outside more and get more D when the weather is better, MKay and lose weight easier??

120 is a number to watch for sure. My glucose number is around 95-100, but I tested negative for diabetes....

Buffy: Glad you got out yesterday..I'm sure your headache is weather/allergy related..Lots of Bradford Pears out and other things..

Wow..are you still cooking, Judy???

Hugs all around...

It's beautiful here today. I sat on the deck and read for about 2 hours and loved it! The only other thing I've gotten done is lunch with a friend and went and got my hormone cocktail. I just found out today that my hormone cream IS going to be covered on our new insurance so I'm happy about that!!

Buffy, so sorry to hear you have another headache. I'm sure you are sick and tired of those! Those darn headaches can really wear you down.

Judy, you are very smart to be taking your own goodies on your trip. And to share them too!! Wow! You are so nice to do that.

MK, maybe you'll get our warm weather tomorrow?? We have rain coming in this weekend. But still supposed to be warm-ish.

I'm fixing chicken piccatta for dinner. I'm going to use the BFM mix for the light dusting of flour. I'm really looking forward to it too.

Hi trying to catch up on everyone. Jim love the avitar pic and really enjoyed Dr. Groves interview. We are having a sky light put in our hallway (I'm so excited). I walked the dogs over to the little sitting area behind our shopping center to read my Kindle while the guy looked over the area in our hall. I'm going to love the moonlight coming in at night.

Oh my a beautiful Oriole just landed on the hummingbird feeder outside my window. What a brilliant color of orange he was.

Sandy piccatta is always a fast meal to fix. I bet the BFM with be great for coating.

Buffy what color are your toes now? I haven't ever had a pedi. I need to treat myself more huh?

I've decided to cut back on the yogurt and fruit. I think that may be why I'm not losing much right now. Did real good with a leftover hamburger patty with grated cheese for breakfast this morning. Lunch was chopped chicken breast from Trader Joe's made into a salad with homemade mayo and olives. That hit the spot. I treated myself with about an oz of dark chocolate with pieces of almonds in it. Dinner's going to be something meat and a veggie no starch.

Carolyn you're such a good nurse to your little Alex. I'm glad he's stabilizing now.

to you all.

Jim that is a good pic! Whatcha flying? I had my pilots license for over 20 years. I actually just sold my 1/3 of a Grumman Tiger back to my partners as I am showing a horse now and I want only one high dollar, time consuming hobby at a time! But it was hard to give it up!

The jet is a CRJ1000 built in Montreal by Bombardier we sold 18 to Garuda Indonesia. Very nice to fly!

I was in with a group of pilots and we had a hangar and a Cardinal C-177 but got just to expensive so my wife and I got out of the coop.

Sandy that is AWESOME. I love knowing we can have that dinner!!
And it does sound so nice of me to share, doesn't it? Sounds good....
I just can't figure out a way to eat delicious LC things in front of my hosts without offering to share!!!!

Sharon your reducing/eliminating those carby things will probably pay off. I have a little dark chocolate nearly every day. I consider it a health food! Congrats on your upcoming skylight! How neat!

MK I don't think I've been eating this way long enough to know if I lose better in summer than winter. I think you are already so tiny - how would you know??

Carolyn I think we're about to have many nice days ahead - more like spring, I hope.

Big plane there Jim. How you doing with finding the right foods on your flights? Or do you pack your own?

Yep Judy, I always bring my own stuff... or buy it once we get there (since the motorcycle doesn't have room for a bunch of groceries). I'm thinking about getting some almond flour & trying a few of your recipes... simple things anyway. So, this flour just counts the same as almonds?

In doing eat fat/get thin today, I noticed how wonderfully low almonds are in carbs. Afraid I way over-did the nuts today, but hoping my hunger subsides tomorrow as I enter ketosis. I'm experimenting with this style of diet to get rid of the carb-hunger that the added fruit caused me this week (or the taxes, not sure which one did it)! It will also work better for traveling, I think... not so hard to find stuff to eat, as what my restricted diet usually is. Course I had to add some things normally restricted from my diet... we'll see.

Hope you all have a wonderful night.

What did you add? You can call me curious or nosey - both will work!

In 1/4 cup, my bag of almond flour has
160 calories
14g fat
3g carbs (NET)
6g protein

Almond flour and coconut flour and now (I'm getting used to it) Lupin flour have made so many formerly off-limits baked goods for me. Even just everyday breads - which I find I rarely reach for anymore - but I can have a hamburger bun if I want. Or I can have a biscuit with dinner or for breakfast. Just amazing to me and I know that's really kept me on track.

Taxes definitely were the cause of the hunger!!!!

Sharon I forgot to comment on your oriole. We lived at Grand Lake O'The Cherokees in Oklahoma for a couple of years and that was the first time I saw an oriole in real life - and the last.

I had to look it up in a bird book the color was so startling! They were eating from our hummingbird feeder, then I ran out and bought an oriole feeder (which they showed no special appreciation at all! ).
