Hi friends,

Sounds like a great day, Debby! I feel for your DIL on the PMS. I kind of think menopause felt like that every day until I got hormones.

After waiting patiently, we finally determined that our big old dogwood tree in the backyard didn't make it through the winter, so DH has done the hard part, but we're loading a second group of big logs into the back of the truck to take to the green dump. 10 years ago we planted 2 little pink dogwoods behind the big white dogwood - one of them did not survive the falling limb from the tree-cutting.... This is all kind of sad to me. We'll plant a new tree pretty quickly, but I imagine the roots will be an issue.

I probably have other things to do today but I will probably eulogize the dogwood. LOL

Morning!
Back home from an action packed weekend. Went to Grandest Friends day at Bobby's school on Friday, so fun, then on to Austin with DD#3 and her family for Grant's baseball tournament. Met DS and family for dinner and then I went on to their house. Got up Saturday, finally got my poor hair trimmed and then on to a baseball game and dinner again, lots of visiting. Sunday, DS and I got up and went to another baseball game while little Oliver and his Mommy went to a zoo birthday party. After the game we had lunch and then the drive back to Dallas. Took 2 hours longer than normal, a oil tanker had gone off the road or rolled, not sure which on I35 so traffic sat at a standstill for 2 solid hours. Great weekend in all but as you can imagine, I am really tired out today. But, a day of rest and I should be fine. Will be getting ready for DD#1 who arrives from NE on Thursday afternoon.

DH is power washing the patio, yay!!! It always looks so nice after he does that. Will make all my newly potted flowers look extra nice.

PMS and menopause just make no sense to me at all. Why do they make women so miserable? Not fair I yell out!!!

Anxious to see and talk to my DD#1, she is going to be 48 this Sept. and she is having some of those related issues, she had blood work done last week and is to see her GP tomorrow, then I want her to also see her gyn. After many years of school, work, raising her family, she is at such a good time in her life, I don't want how she feels to detract from that in any way.

Judy, sorry about losing your tree, we always hate to lose those large, older shading trees, but then, it is also fun to plant and watch the new ones grow. DS has spent hours and hours over the past 3 years doing areas of native Texan plants in his yard, it is really neat to look at.

Sorrry about the tree, Judy..It was a dry summer last summer and my friend lost her
one year old dogwood..

Okay, KCity kids, 9 a.m. at First Watch.. Monday, May 20th..I'll have to go to bed early the night before.

Buffy: Your weekend sounded like fun, except for sitting in traffic for 2 hours...Not good.

Debby: You are so active...I'm impressed..

Didn't go to exercise today..I might later on..or put on Wii-Fit..I'm still a bit tired, maybe I'll lay down..LOL

I'm excited about our meet-up!! Of course, if Alex needs you, just let us know.

I went and got my dad and we're painting my entry way and my master bath alcove. I'm done with my part, just waiting on him. Then we get to watch paint dry, lol.

We have a couple of trees we have concerns about but the 3 Dogwoods made it....so far! I put as many plastic pots and bags on my Hostas that are sprouting as we are looking at snow!

Hi ladies and Jim,

Had a wonderful brunch in Bartlesville at a very fancy house..Think "Tara" no kidding..
Ate some carbs, but had no lunch, then a stop at Aldis for nuts/chocolate/veggies..
Fun day with my friend Cheryl, who had never been to Aldis or Tara..

I will make the meet-up..Going to have to train dh how to "nurse" Alex, etc..Surely
by the 20th of May he will be off the juice...Think and prayer positive..

I got some artisan lettuce at Aldis, so will make my favorite salad dressing..
Oil/vinegar/splenda/Italian seasoning..Easy and good.

Not having the best day today, alert, whine follows.

Woke up to a swollen parotid gland below my right ear, about the size of an egg. Went to dr. And he sent me for.a sonogram and now I am waiting for dr. To let me know the results and call something in for it.

Then, my oldest DD had her follow up on her blood work today and she has diabetes! It looks like it is type 1, she starts on insulin tonight and sees her dr. Again Friday. Sure hated to hear this and it of course means she can't come thurs for the visit we had planned.

Very chilly here so I know the rest of you are as well!

Oh Buffy, I'm sorry about your DD. I didn't realize type1 diabetes could show up late in life. Did this just pop up out of the blue or has she had ongoing symptoms that made them check for this?
I hope your swelling isn't anything major. That's the last thing you need right now, for sure!!

Yes, Carolyn, we hope Alex is off the juice by then. Sounds like you had a fun day.

Sorry Buffy, for your bad news. Hope things go well for your daughter. Hope you get that lump healed up too.

Good for you Jim, glad the scale is going in the right direction. Careful biking!

I had a hard day. Shelby got into poison, we weren't sure if dh might have hit her with the truck too, but she was still walking, but she passed away in my arms. I'm very weepy

Buffy GEESH. Your DD being diagnosed with type 1 or are they still checking?
Mary Tyler Moore was a very adult-onset type 1.
We have another friend who was late 20s when diagnosed with type 1.
At least you can be reasonable as an adult - about your food and dosing.

When you are a kid, you see your friends eating cotton candy at the fair (channeling my DH's childhood experience with a hospital visit! HA HA!) and you feel fine! It's just some candy or cake or whatever... things are so much better now with glucose monitors. DH was diagnosed when he was 8 - he is now 60.

As an adult you can see the long-range big picture, so even Grant and for sure DD1 will have a better grasp. Plus the advantage of glucose monitoring. Still - it's a "world-rocking" diagnosis...

Debby: Oh how terribly sad for that sweet little doggie.. Prayers of comfort for you all..
Our furbabies are like our kids..We so enjoyed all her antics..

Buffy: I had a friend who was Type I at 40...(late onset)..She is fine now with the help
of insulin. However, she didn't have a mother like you who can encourage her to LCarb..Yes, keep us posted on your lump..Good grief..We want a healthy Buffy NOW..

Jim..You will be in Twoterville in no time, then it will be party time.. LC, of course.

Hugs all around...

Thanks Friends,

I am doing somewhat better presently. I picked up some homeopathic stress relief at the HFS. With all the prayers & that, its helping. Hoping for a good night's sleep. I was able to send "notes" to my family, friends & neighbors today to let them know. Told my dd & ds last night. Didn't want to talk about it, ended up blubbering away to dd, as she doesn't go online much. ds has texting, so he was easy.

I bought the ebook by Haylie Pomroy... (saw her on Dr. Oz). The Fast Metabolism Diet - Eat More Food and Lose More Weight (hope its ok to post). The first part is supposed to heal your adrenals & calm you system down, perfect for what I'm going through right now... its only for 2 or 3 days, then it changes to another phase. Going pretty well, out of the "allowable" foods that I actually can eat, I'm following it today. Will see how it goes. I'm hoping it helps me with the maintenance & being able to eat more variety of foods without inflammation.

Gotta go fix dinner for dh.

That's a good update.

After our first dear pug died, DH and I realized we were speaking to each other more than we had in 13 years... our dog may have a little too high a place of importance now that I see that sentence in print....

Quick update.
First, hello to all my dear friends before I "whine" again.
Back to the Dr. at 2:20 today. No better and care barely swallow. Have to crush up meds to even take them. swelling moving into the my right center of face and looks like I am going to have a black eye. I have never had anything like this????

Thanks for all the kind words for DD. We are pretty sure it is type I. She said she had a long conversation with Grant the other night and she said he gave her a lot of tips. She goes back to her Dr. tomorrow so anxious to see what they have to say then.

Back to bed to rest until it is time to shower and go to Dr.

Buffy are you using Splenda as your sweetener? If you are stop now! I was having similar swelling on my neck and face and when I stopped the splenda it hasn't returned. Just a little info for you. Hope your dr. has help for you today.
