Will actually let me finish resting up from my trip.

Debby, as you can tell, we are all animal lovers here and I loved reading about your cat who I didn't realize you had. Of course Kaboodle had to vacate for a while to impress upon you his/her displeasure with you getting a DOG of all things. But, they could grow to be buddies, or not! Shelby will try, Kaboodle may or may not, that's just the way cats are.

Sandy, so glad you are enjoying the little cakes, that is quite a mix that Quiz came up with and I hope she has success in marketing it. It is so forgiving, as you have experienced using oat bran, instead of oat fiber. It might be even better the way you are making it, I might check to see if I have both and make one of each. But, that does tell me that you probably won't have any experience with it "backfiring" on you.

Judy, I know that Carolyn's LC raspberry coffee cake is on the boards, I have seen it but I am sure she can point you to it quickly. It has great reviews from those who have tried it.

Ollie's blood tests all were normal and the Dr. told them they just had to ride it out, I can tell DS is worn out plus the fact that he is getting flack from work on being out. They really do need to find a sitter that would come in on days like this, they have been so protective about sitters that unfortunately, they don't have a roster to call on. DDIL's sister helps out as often as she can.

Next week is spring break for the kids around here so I told Grant to plan on coming over for a couple of days and we will get his allergy shot worked into one of those days. Thank heavens that is down to once a month now but they sure have helped him.

Where did April go with her Quest bars? Hope I didn't scare her away
Well I guess that Dr. appointment will be at a better time for you. That is good.

I sure wonder what this super bug is going around. Sorry for little Ollie and of course, his parents.... they'll make it through. I have to say I admire their being so protective about sitters.

I think I might have gone too far with April!
She may have found a group not so grabby with her Quest bars!!

Thanks for the offer Cindy but I love these so much that I'll just order some. I am going to use up the stuff I already made up though. I just will cut my serving size down to maybe half. Although it fills me up so well I don't even need lunch so for 2 meals I guess that's not too bad of a count for maintenance.

Yes, April, where did you go?????

I vacuumed the house today. I had to. Bailey fur was starting to curl around my ankles as I walked through the house. Ok, that's an exaggeration but it was BAD! That's about the extent of any strenuous activity for me today. Back to resting the rest of the day. I have a pretty big next 3 days coming up and I don't want to miss doing anything that I have planned. I sure hope I can pull them all off.

Sandy, I had to laugh out loud at you when you described Bailey's fur. I am afraid our house is pretty bad with cat hair and when I was younger, I probably would not have allowed it, but, with age and becoming very mellow, the fun and enjoyment DH and I get from our adopted kitties is more important to us than a spotless house.

I do have to say though, that it was nice to get dressed at both my sister's house and at the hotel and not have to worry about making sure my clothes were not "hairy"

Last time Ava came to spend the night with me, we were getting ready to go somewhere and I said "wait, let Mema roll you first" (lint roller). She said "why you have to roll me Mema?"

Ahhhh, what's more important, a spotless house or waking up with 2 cats curled around me? A spotless house or a kitty who has determined that it is his job to walk DH down the hall and to bed every evening? A spotless house or sitting in the den at night, watching tv and looking around to see 4 cats curled up in the room so that they can be near you?

Judy, just read a couple of days ago about a very strong strain of bacteria that they were having trouble with in hospitals. Is that what it is going to come to, where germs get the better of us?

Gotta tell you - if "Being Buffy" were a TV show I would pay to watch it!

Hi ladies..

SF coffee cake was a big success..I told them it had butter in it..Some peeps were afraid of butter, but not me..I'll post the link..

I love your DD's cats..What a great picture of them..Don't worry about the weight..Once you get all "better" and back 100 percent, it will come off..It's all good..

Yes, we have cat hair here, too...Why do the animals shed??? No outfit is complete without cat hair. I'm always picking Alex off my clothes, even though I roll myself, too..LOL.

My friend's dh went to NE on business and stayed in a hotel near campus and got bitten by a spider (we think)..What a mess..Two days in the hospital, then he got staph..Finally, it is better..Of course, he didn't go until it looked horrible..Of course..

I totally agree Buffy. I love my pooch. BUT I hadn't vacuumed since I got home from vacation 17 days ago and we had our granddog for 8 of those days along with my Bailey. They are both long haired white dogs so you can imagine. We're very familiar with being rolled around here too, lol. As much black as I wear I really should've gotten a black dog, NOT a white one.

Love the kitty pics and can't wait until Downton Tabby starts!

Dont' sweat your weight right now. Just get well and then you can tackle it again. Now you know exactly what and how to do it to be successful when you're ready.

Carolyn, that coffee cake looks scrumptious. I think I might've made it a long time ago using sf strawberry jam. I seem to remember portion control problems on both our parts. DH has a real sweet tooth so I have to be pretty careful what I keep around.

I am returning. I did it for three years and maintained my weight well but after a knee surgery I never went back on it. I am close to having diabetes now and I believe this is the best diet that I can stay with. It is hard to start again.

Barb. Yes, this WOE gives great control for diabetes.

You gals always know what to say to make everything not just all right, but super all right.

My sister is still on the low fat way, had skim milk in the fridge, non fat Greek yogurt, etc. but to each his own. I can hardly argue that my way is better while being over weight and with the health issues I have. She is leaving for a 12 day trip with her DH and others for a trip to Israel. Said when she gets back she is thinking of trying either Jenny or Nutri systems, not sure which it was, a friend recently lost 40 lbs on it. My sis is not that overweight, we talked about how those plans, like all others work but that you always gain it back, I tried to encourage her to just accept her weight and quit being so hard on herself, she has always been an over achiever but I would like to see her just relax and enjoy life, I really wonder if this isn't just the weight her body is comfortable at. She just has that bit around the midsection that most women get, I told her just get a size bigger top and quit critiquing herself with the mirror

Barb!
Get yourself some nice fatty cuts of meat and lots of non-starchy vegetables. You'll find it easy to get back into the swing of things.

Carolyn thank you for the link- that looks delicious and I'll be so happy having that in my collection of excellent recipes.

DH is slow-smoking some beef ribs. I made those simple almond flour waffles this morning. Since I got my birthday waffle iron (classic, not Belgian), I'm also going to make the simple waffles that are savory - this person used it as a bread substitute, so I'm going to make those.

Will also make a balsamic vinaigrette.

Then we're babysitting two grand-dogs this weekend. Will direct my house cleaner to wait until next week to vacuum, as we will be overrun with dog hair.
Right now my house cleaner is typing and getting ready to make waffles and balsamic vinaigrette!

Yeah, housework isn't on top of my list of fav's.

We've been lucky with Shelby not shedding till now. Puppy fuzz just wasn't coming off... now I'm finding more & more "black hairs" (at least it is black)!
But, with all wood floors & wood heat, I need to vacuum every week, the dust bunnies start running around by then - probably should be every 5 days, but that's just not going to happen...

Cute moment this morning, my kitty "Kaboodle" came into room we have the cat-door in, (I haven't seen him for weeks, he doesn't like new dog). He was up high & I was petting him, Shelby got to sniff noses & lick Kaboodle in the face... then of course she did that bounce on paws thing... as to say "lets play"... to which Kaboodle did nothing. Happy moment for me, gives me hope that they can work out some kind of coexistence. Of course I told Shelby not to do that, so one step at a time, she'll learn (I hope)! She was a LOT calmer then last time they sniffed noses.

Have a fat-lovin-good day!
Oh, God bless kitty! I hope they do become a loving family. My friend has a huge dog that loves his 2 cats!

Oh, I can't wait for those pics Cindy! That should be exciting. And a real chore with all the mud and maybe more to come with the rain they are forecasting.

I finally talked DD into opening up a treasury direct account today so I could start buying savings bonds for the great grand-babies. It's only taken 2 years!! Colton is turning 2 Monday and his b-day party is Sunday. I don't know where that 2 years has gone it's flown by so fast. And Chase is already 6 months old!! They certainly don't need any more toys or any more stuff so savings bonds might come in handy when they turn 18 and might need $$ for school.

I made shrimp scampi with dreamfields spaghetti for dinner. I made another FFM bread also adding garlic, parsley and parmesan. DH was duly impressed. Until I told him the carb count, lol. I told him I have the lower carb stuff coming soon so enjoy this for now.

DH's dad got released from the hospital today. Still coughing but much better. The whole nursing home basically has this crud! He'll be 86 on Sunday and besides this latest illness he's dealing with terrible eye problems. He had botched eyelid surgery a few years ago and now has such severe dry eye he has scratched corneas so he's in pain constantly. He has an appt up here the end of the month to see if there's anything they can do to help him. He had an appt the end of Feb but the blizzard made that impossible to keep.

Our snow on our deck is almost all gone. There's still quite a bit on the ground in the shadows but if it rains it should disappear this weekend. I hope we don't see anymore this year.

He had surgery a few years ago for something to do with his tear ducts for dry eye and I think they also trimmed his eyelids or something. Anyway, he's had problems ever since. Now he can't even close his eyes so he has extreme dry eye. The last specialist he saw said every time he blinks his eyes it's like rubbing sandpaper over his cornea. He's in constant pain and lives about 2 hours from KC which is where he needs to come to see another specialist to see if there's anything they can do to give him some relief. His age and condition are not in his favor right now but I pray they can at least do something to ease his pain. He's already on several drops, ointments, meds and wears dark glasses all the time plus sleeps in a sleep mask. The mask has probably helped more than anything. If I were you, I'd look up eye surgery forums and read up as much as you can. It's very "eye opening", pun intended. I don't want to scare you but it sure seems like a lot of people have problems even after surgery.

Thank you so much - I will definitely look at this.

I also may have mis-spoken. She is looking toward having her eyelids lifted.
In my imagination, they have drooped enough that medicare will pay to have her eyelids lifted.

I will check on this procedure to see if she should do this.
Thanks again.

Me too! LOVE taco's! Corn tortillas are the only "bread" I can eat.
Kaboodle grew up with dogs. Used to sleep with them, follow them around... but they were all "mature dogs" that were "calm." He's still never hit one with his claws, just won't.
Have fun in the mud!

Sandy, those dry-eyes are certainly a bother. FIL had that. Hope your DF is better now & safe from all those germs.

Judy, you're so funny! I think all our saggies should qualify for "fixin"...

G'nite ALL!

That's a different procedure completely. I've known people who have had that done without complication. I myself would still research it to pieces before I did. And my eyelids are pretty droopy too. I just keep putting up with them for now.
It sure never hurts to ask very specific questions to the Dr doing the surgery on your mom though. Hopefully less surprises and disappointment that way.

Well, I think I might walk away from the FabFlour Mis-Match-Mix that I made and have been using until I get the correct oat fiber. I've gained 3 days in a row and those 3 days I had one of my little creations using that. The oat bran must just have way too many carbs for me to deal with well. Maybe I can think of something tiny I can make that would reduce the carbs per serving enough to at least use up my large batch of the mix. Any ideas???

Maybe I can think of something tiny I can make that would reduce the carbs per serving enough to at least use up my large batch of the mix. Any ideas???
The original recipe is 114 calories and 6 net carbs. I think you are only adding 6 carbs from the oat flour but also adding 65 calories and another 200 calories from the HWC. That brings it up to 379 calories. While you shouldn't gain 3 pounds from that, the original recipe is more calorie friendly.

I didn't gain 3 pounds, I just had small gains for 3 days straight. I am going to get the actual oat fiber though to reduce everything more. Thanks for those figures.

Morning!
Cindy, that's exciting for your horse being shown.

And Sharon, I loved your Charlie Brown, that was so cute.

Sandy, that sounds miserable for your dad, going through all that due to a botched surgery. Wow.
Judy, that surgery your mother is having is often done with very good results but make sure you pick a surgeon whose work you have seen. My DD already has her's picked out for that procedure, I told her that she could have him do a trial run on me. She met a woman who told her which surgeon had done hers and had done an amazing job. Besides needing it at times due to it hindering your eyesight, it also really opens up your face and you look so much more rested and young, if done right of course.

Sandy, maybe it is all the bran just holding onto fluid in your body that has caused the little daily gains. Always good to switch foods around anyway.

Rained here yesterday and supposed to again today and tomorrow. Which is ok, we can always use rain to raise the lake levels to prepare for our dry summers.

Got a little scare this morning, woke up and looked at my phone and there was a text message with a picture of Ollie and my DIL in a hospital bed with the text, back at the hospital getting another IV, and it had todays date of when it was sent. Called DS all alarmed and he had Ollie answer the phone and he sounded very chipper. DS said that he had tried to send that picture the other night and reception at the hospital was bad so it didn't send. Finally came through today. Whew, I was thinking that I had better get down there and find out what was really going on with my little Ollie!!!

Gals, I know most of you are avid readers and have your kindles, nooks, Ipads, etc. to read on. I put the kindle app on my Ipad and it works great. Google bookbub, one word and see what you think. I subscribed and you put in the kind of books you like and each day you get a list of 3-5 books that you can download through various places, I go through amazon and there are always 1-2 daily that are free. Very easy, so far I have just downloaded the free ones that look good to me except for one or two that I paid a dollar or two for that looked really good. I have 1 click shopping set up on amazon so it it quick and easy peasy. Oh, and since I go to amazon and download, I always take a look at the reviews on the books before I pick them. They are usually 4-5 stars.
