BJ, I'm staying with meat and eggs! I don't think I can wake up to potatoes and vinegar in the morning. And don't obsess on the scale. You are shrinking so that means you are losing fat and adding muscle.

Boys go back to their father today. Noland isn't going to make it much longer. So hard to see. He was always such a big, strong boy. Ah, the grief of having pets!

It's going to be 60 degrees here this week, Fri I think. Maybe it will melt off this foot of snow. I am so ready for spring!!

And from what I have read (and curious how much I retain...) I think part of the potato hack is that you do not add fat to your potatoes. Or possibly only 1 tsp. of fat (thereby making me more interested because.... HASH BROWNS!! )

The intriguing part of that potato diet to me is how it immediately grabs your stored fat to make the insulin it needs from eating those potatoes. Thus, you lose a large amount of pure body fat while you're doing it. Potatoes used to be one of my very favorite foods, but even reading through that whole thread, they never really sounded that good. I know I couldn't do it for 14 days!!! But if I got desperate I think I could do it for 5 days. I don't know if that would be long enough to do any good. It is very interesting reading and science behind it though.

I still have my cough and my headache, though both are getting a tad better. And I tire so easily. I hate being sick!!! I can't imagine anybody likes it though, right? I feel like I've totally lost 2 weeks out of my life! With all the snow I guess I didn't really lose that much. Not like if it was beautiful spring time.

I was only considering it for 3 days, possibly 4.
I know I couldn't consider it for even a week. Some were doing it for only a few days, weren't they? Not sure now....

Putting on my Captain Obvious hat: as others here have said THANK GOODNESS you didn't get sick until you came home. You had a GREAT vacation, thank goodness!!!

These days (although it's been a few years) when I get a cough, it gives me a headache.
Hardly bearable - sorry for you and hope you are better every single day.

Thank you Judy. Yes, I'm very thankful for my wonderful vacation. In fact, I'm trying to plan our next year's vacation. Or at least get our condo reserved again for that same time period. And I'm also so thankful I didn't get this while I was down there. Now that would've been a waste of valuable vacation time!!! And I'm thankful for friends like you too.

Yes, I think a few people only did it a few days but I could never quite figure out how successful those few were? I especially found it very interesting how they've found how important resistant starch is to our good health? Hmmmmm.

We must read the same things - I've been seeing that, too. And I think the results were spotty - some lost beautifully, some lost nothing and I think a few gained! Which made me put the whole thing on the back burner. Still interesting, though, and I do think there's value to shocking myself into eating differently sometimes (not yet!).

I actually started taking gelatin, also, on Dana Carpender's advice. I bought a big box of Knox unflavored gelatin and mix 1 envelope in water once/day. I slipped and fell on ice a couple of winters ago and have never been able to rid myself of the pain around my thumb/wrist after that fall. It's definitely not horrible, just something I'm sometimes aware. That pain is now gone. And I know I've had much higher weights in my life and my knees will be the victims there....

I'm awaiting my last netrition order, and it has a big box of gelatin in it.

Completely separate and apart from actual health, Carolyn from All Day I Dream About Food posted this recipe. I made it in 4 little ramekins and they are outstanding with a little dollop of whipped cream. Just delicious and I recommend them highly. I just used a regular 19 cent lemon from the grocery, and I used Swerve for the E.

Meyer Lemon Mug Cake – Low Carb & Gluten Free {ADIDAF}
Ingredients
• ¾ cup almond flour
• 2 tbsp erythritol
• Zest of one Meyer Lemon
• 1 tsp baking powder
• Pinch salt
• Juice of one Meyer Lemon
• 2 tbsp butter, melted
• 1 large egg, lightly beaten
• Lightly sweetened whipped cream for garnish
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk almond flour, erythritol, lemon zest, baking powder and salt.

Add lemon juice, melted butter and egg, and stir until well combined.

Divide mixture between two microwave-safe mugs and microwave each separately for 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Remove and top with whipped cream.

Good Morning!

Cindy- Thanks for the reinforcement! Let us know how you do on the meat and eggs! I have that lined up for a stall. (Whoever said 2-3 weeks is considered a stall is going to be my guideline!!) Glad you're going to get some warm temps!

Judy- The lemon cakes look interesting! What is Swerve?

Sandy- That lingering cough is the worst!! I will keep sending healing vibes your way!!

Buffy- So glad you had a nice visit with your sister!! We are looking forward to hearing more from you here, though!

FIL comes in today so DH and I can go to California tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to seeing DH for more than a couple of hours!! Traveling with him to do that is okay by me. He spent all day with my son at the motocross track yesterday, so that makes us all happy!!

Have a marvelous Monday!

BJ

Hi BJ - Swerve is an artificial sweetener (kind of expensive). I can get it directly from Swerve, and also from netrition. It's mostly erythritol but also has some kind of proprietary ingredient that is supposed to calm the mouth-cooling effect of erythritol. You can use it measure-for-measure for sugar. It is fairly expensive, but I enjoy using it, and also throwing in a little EZ Sweets - I think a lot of us use multiple sweeteners in our baking.

I have so many LC products now.... and I actually like them and use them....But I've got to draw the line somewhere!!!!

Hi gals..

Back after doing lots of errands and Bible Study and exercise this morning..Feels good to sit down..LOL..

And....I'm back down to my pre-weekend weight..146.. That old white bread/chips/cookie didn't do too much damage. Just think...this is a normal lunch for many people.

Dh is heading for KCity and Omaha. He is taking Beth and Shawn out..I'll be anxious to
see how they are doing on their WW plans..(hopefully dh will notice)..

Judy: That looks nommie..wish we could get Meyer lemons around here..

Hugs to everyone....

Oh, Cindy...your poor little step kitty..Prayers for a peaceful passing for him.

If I had a lemon I'd make one of those cakes tonight!! I'm finally getting out tomorrow. I go for my monthly shot, pick up a prescription and I'm meeting the girls for lunch!! I hope I don't poop out too early. I've only had to take cough meds twice today so far so I'm improving. Thank goodness!!

Thanks. I am morning and night with the cream.
I'll just have to get used to it or deal with how I felt before the cream...

Dr Oz was good today (as usual). It was on " The Fatigue Solution" & also hungry girls' tips. Picked up a few good tips. Most of it I'm already doing though. Real interested in that lohan or mung fruit sweetener. Need to see if they have it at the HFS here. Do any of you gals use it?

Something really strange... 2 of my friends are expecting twins! They are only 1 month apart in due dates... so strange. It will be # 3 & #4 for the one, who has 2 girls 8 & 10yrs... It will be # 6 & #7 for the other one, who's oldest is 13.

Hi!
Another busy day - exercising, PEO, DS20 had a dentist appt, salsa chicken for dinner (with chicken thighs!) and watching Sons of Anarchy with DS.

Cindy - I'm so sorry!! Losing pets is so hard!

Sandy - so glad you're better!! Keep it up!
Do you really think the potato diet would work?

Judy - that sounds so yummy!!!
I tried the gelatin a while ago - didn't seem like it did anything! Or I didn't do it long enough ~ always possible!

BJ - have a great trip!!

Buffy - Enjoy!!!

FYI - I found the granular and liquid monkfruit sweetener. The nectresse ingredients: Erythritol, sugar, monkfruit extract, molasses. The liquid version lists water, monkfruit extract, malic acid, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. Also found liquid sucralose at 2 local Wallyworld's in Spokane.

Good Morning Ladies

I made a hot breakfast this morning that I wanted to share, I LOVE oatmeal, so I have been trying to find a high fat/loc carb version and this is what I came up with :

3 TBLSP Unsweetened organic finely shredded coconut
1 travel pack of flax seed ( 6.5g)
2 TBLSP Coconut Butter
1 oz Cream Cheese
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup HWC

I heated the water to boiling then added it to the coconut, coconut butter, flax seed mixture and let it set for a couple minutes, then added the cream cheese and HWC.. it is delish!

According to my tracker it is:
18 carbs
59 Fat
6 protein
626 calories

Have a nice day everyone!

Cindy- I am sorry to hear about your cat.. I have 2 fur-babies ( doberman and a cat), they are very much a part of our family, I don't know what I will do when they pass.. So sorry..

Hello Ladies!

Cindy- so sorry about the kitty!!!

I am off to Cali this afternoon! Weather is not supposed to be great, but I'm sure we'll have fun anyway. I get to spend part of a day with my brother in LA who I don't see that often. I'm sure I won't be posting until Saturday at the earliest. I hope everyone stays well!!
