I think that's a great place to meet the new BF, though! Is your DD29 your oldest? I cannot believe you have a child that old - you look like a kid! As you all know, I married into my kids. Now that they're all over 30 we decided to stop lying about our own ages, and lie about our kids' ages! |

Checking in. Dh is with his brother on a mountain hike. I'm here with the fur kids thinking about what to eat for breakfast. I think it's going to be eggs with shredded cheese and a handful of greens. Saw Marie's breakfast with her protein bread this morning on fb. It looked really good.
Have a lovely Saturday. Nice to see all are well. I think March is my favorite month. |

I have the boys back for 36 hours, watching them for my ex. I didn't mention it but the diabetic one, the big one I got off insulin, has end stage liver disease. The vet gave him 2 weeks to live a month ago. We put him on a steroid (he is back on insulin now because of the steroid) and a couple of herbals for liver support but his time is limited. He's young (to me!) as he is 12. He was 21 pounds when I got him last march got him off insulin and down to 18 pounds. He is 14 1/2 now. His topline is thin but he has a bit of a belly I would guess is ascitis. Poor baby son! My ex is out of town for a day and thought Noland should have supervision so we took all 3. Pooter is pissed!! haha

Ah, so sad when they get sick.
Hope everything goes well. I'm cooking up a bunch of ribs. Since I don't like cooking, I'm doing 2 big pkgs. Going to be a ton to freeze! (I wouldn't have ribs, but we bought a side of beef)... gotta use 'em up. |

That actually sounds delish!! I wanted to make thighs last night but my dad came over and bought pizza .. I got naked wings, but resulted in leftovers for today, so I am getting anxious for my thighs!! Good luck!!

I have some I need to cook tonight and I'm leaving the skin on, thinking of putting a half a stick of butter in the pan & baking until the skins are brown. I wonder if that would be good? Interested in any variations or additions. What I REALLY wish I was having was chicken & rice. I've already got a cauliflower casserole in the refrigerator, but I guess I could rice some cauliflower and have chicken and rice. Will check for suggestions after I walk the dog briskly! I applaud your meat & egg fast! |

I love thighs too! And used to only eat breasts. I like the juicier dark meat now. And I love crispy chicken skin. What a treat! Better than pork skins any day.
I applaud the meat and egg fast too! Anybody reading about that potato hack plan? Very interesting stuff. |

Yes - that potato hack is VERY interesting - and I have considered it just to carve off a couple of pounds. And I thought it would be fun to eat only potatoes since I eat zero potatoes now. Just for a change-up.
I think Debby has calorie-cycled and said it works. Do some people carb-cycle? Have a high-carb day here & there? That potato hack also doesn't seem to raise most peoples' blood sugar if the potatoes are eaten cold. And I LOVE malt vinegar. OK - I'm just going to do the thighs with nothing but butter. We have side dishes.

Hi there
![]() We were at the church for 4 & 1/2 hrs. It was quite the celebration of life for a dear sister in the Lord. Wow! ![]() The ribs, I just covered in water & a few spices in a crock-pot. Fished 'em out when we got home & baked for half hour. DH's had sauce brushed on, mine were plain. They sure shrunk! Not nearly as many left over as I had thought. Yes, Judy, when I rotated calories more... it was using less carbs. Would generally cut my oatmeal down in the morning & skip the tortilla at lunch. Later, I cut back on the CO instead. Unfortunately now when I drop my calories, its because the schedule gets messed up & I miss my snack.

Day 1of 14 days: My version of a meat/egg fast consisting of nothing but skinless thighs and eggs. It is 50% protein and 50% fat.
Start Weight: 130 (this is artificially elevated as we went to a party last night and there was a full meal, alcohol and cake!) On a happy note, Daylight Savings is next Sunday!!!! My favorite time as I love it lighter in the evening. |

Mmmmm... now I want chicken thighs!
DH does not like them, though. I need to get him to change his palate!! At least I can roast a whole chicken and everyone is happy!FIL comes tomorrow so that DH and I can go to Cali. It's not supposed to be any warmer than it is here (60s, although it will be 84 here tomorrow and then back down in the 60s for the rest of the week!! ) I guess I don't have to worry about that suit! ![]() DH came home from London last night and told me how good I look. Then I stepped on the scale this morning and it was 158. UP .5! Have a wonderful Sunday! BJ |

Hi!
So I guess this isn't a good time to say I'm making lasagna for dinner! ![]() DS20 being home from college sure changes our menus! BJ - you're shrinking!! ![]() Me too - a little bit! Last March I weighed 124.8. Yesterday I weighed 123.2. Basically I'm just maintaining - up 1, down 1, up 2, down 1, etc. Cindy - I love it lighter in the evenings too - someday I can walk outside again!! ![]() |

Cindy, my recollection is yes, only potatoes, cold or reheated, with malt vinegar.
There's some science about the potatoes having a lower glycemic impact when cold or even when re-heated. BJ - how neat your DH noticed how you are shrinking, as MK said. Sometimes the scale doesn't reflect what's really going on! Plus you ARE working out a lot - muscle? I wore a skirt today, with a jacket I'd bought after I weigh exactly what I weigh now. The jacket is quite loose and the skirt fits perfectly rather than snugly. ![]() But I'm happier looking in the mirror! Have fun in CA! Carolyn, welcome back! And Buffy, so glad you're having a nice visit. Can't wait to get that headache figured out and gone. Sharon you won't be sorry you cooked the chicken thighs. MK, because of your suggestion, I will brown a pound of ground beef, with onion & garlic and add a couple of cans of Italian diced tomatoes. I'll serve it over steamed broccoli and cover it with cheese and pretend we've having lasagne! |

Mmmmm... lasagna!! Okay- not thinking about that!! LOL! I hope you girls enjoyed your versions. We had strips grilled by DH with sauteed mushrooms and steamed green beans. All topped by herb butter! (Oh- and I had about 8 oz red wine!
I haven't had anything alcoholic in two weeks. Boy, did it taste GOOD!!)Thanks for the support Mary Kay and Judy. I'm not going to get TOO discouraged yet! ![]() Judy- Glad you too are feeling smaller. I bet you looked GREAT in that jacket and skirt! Mary Kay- Enjoy the kiddo! Congrats on your weight loss over the year. Even if it is about a pound- it COUNTS!!! ![]() Sharon- I'll have to make some thighs next time DH is traveling for work! YUM! Cindy- maybe potatoes are just the jolt you need???? Buffy- Hope that headache is gone for good and that you are enjoying your sister in AZ!!! Carolyn- What did you have at the deli? How was the weigh-in? Good night all! BJ Last edited by rosewoodb; 03-03-2013 at 09:06 PM.. |
