What can you eat???? Also - SO brave on doing your own hair color. I'm kind of jealous.... My DH had a low-grade fever when he started his flu or horrible cold or whatever he had. We gave him advil and after a day or two it was over. Hope your DH has a healing day today! |

How do we take the oil of oregano? I am positive I couldn't take it as tea, so how do your pals do the oil? |

Yeah, I have a friend who uses it too. I tried it.
I'd say its worse than Bukley"s! Oregano taste stays in your mouth - like forever. Miss seeing all your faces. And those off in paradise. |

I have a cured ham in the oven, one of those Cook's or a similiar brand. I always used to love the cream gravy I made with this kind of ham and of course the mashed potatoes. I am not a big fan of mashed cauliflower, well, let's say I like it but not as a replacement for taters. So, I thought I would make one of the biscuits and have the cream gravy over that. Judy, I know you have made quite a few biscuits, and have made some using the Better than Flour mix, maybe others. Of all of those, which would you recommend for this purpose. I know there was one someone said was similiar to KFC's biscuit, then there is one that is said to be similiar to Red Lobster's cheesy biscuits, maybe leave out the cheese? I trust your judgement so if you have time, point me to the one you think would be bestest.
I have been trying, since being in the hospital, upping my carbs to see if that would make me feel better, have more energy, heal, etc. I don't seem to have the grain allergy as I don't feel any different if I eat grains or if not. But, while doing that, the inevitable carb creek begins and now I am gaining weight. And, of course, I am not wanting to give up the carbs, omg, they taste so good. So, I think I must go cold turkey again and go very low in carbs and try to get back in ketosis. This might be making me feel a little better but I do not want to gain this weight back. I can't seem to eat "just a few more" carbs, once I got completely out of ketosis, they just screamed "eat me, eat me, eat more of me" until I had to soundproof the house . So, on day 1 of trying to ditch the carbs. I have to say that in Sept. when I went very LC again, after several years of higher carbs that everything LC tasted wonderful and the higher fat was so good. Not so much today, I had gotten really tired of the foods I was eating on my NK plan but had such a little bit of appetite that I didn't even feel like experimenting with new foods. I made bacon and eggs this morning and , I didn't even want to eat that. Hope my ham dinner tastes better tonight.

These are not very breakfast-y, but I think they are so so good
Others follow: Cheesy-Cheese Biscuits (Satisfying Eats) Makes 9 small biscuits 2 tbsp coconut flour 1/4 cup almond flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/2 serving of Stevia (yes, just a pinch or just omit it) 2 tbsp butter, melted (I used salted) 1/4 cup heavy cream 1 egg 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese 1/2 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated (packed) 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix dry ingredients 3. Then add remaining ingredients and mix with a fork until homogeneous. 4. Use small scoop to scoop out dough onto un-greased cookie sheet. Makes 9 small biscuits 5. Bake for 12-15 minutes. They won't turn brown on top but the bottoms will be a nice golden brown. 6. Once out of oven, smear a bit of salted butter on top and serve warm. Nutrition: 1/9 of recipe: 117 cals; 10g fat; 4g protein; 2 grams carbs Red Lobster Garlic Cheese Biscuit: 16 grams of carbs ------------------------ The last time I made these, I barely put any garlic in there and I eyeball-reduced the parmesan. That parmesan is just so.... pronounced. It made a milder biscuit and I really liked that for that purpose. ----------------------------- If you want a biscuit like a KFC biscuit, use the Better Than Flour mix. If you have a big batch made up, use a heaping 1/4 cup scoop. Add 1-2Tbsp. HWC (I'd go for 2), then dribble in LC milk (I use Hood - could use Almond Breeze) stirring while you dribble to get a consistency of biscuit dough. Oooh! If you melted 1 Tbsp. butter and added that it would be nice, too. Add a pinch of salt to the dough - otherwise it's fairly flavorless, which might be fine for you and for your purposes. If you add the HWC, you'll get the KFC consistency and I really think that oat fiber somehow gives it a wheat flour taste. In this KFC version of the Better Than Flour mix - I would use 1 Tbsp. coconut flour & 1 Tbsp. almond flour (for the moisture). --------------------------- I agree - too much fat too fast is urpy. I am so sorry you went through all that - still going through it really. I worried about your upping the carbs really due to inflammation, but you had really not eaten well or much prior to this incident. I wonder if you'd be interested in some of those simple waffles Sharon referenced earlier? You might have to send DH out for a waffle iron but they are super duper easy and you feel like you are cheating. Do you have almond butter/peanut butter and SF pancake syrup? ------------------------------ I am going to chop chop chop some vegetables that I bought a couple of days ago...some tomatoes, some celery, some green peppers, a few scallions, cucumber and drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar. I'll add some avocado with each serving. Might share with the kids, might not ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just realized you asked which I would recommend - I would recommend the first recipe - cheesy cheese biscuits.

Hi gals..
They put it in water..couple of drops or juice and drink it..I read on Amazon that you can also put some on the soles of your feet and it permeates your body..It seems as though it is great for everything.. Ham...I haven't had that in a long time..Eat some nommie veggies, Buffy..Maybe that is what will help. For me, variety is the spice of life with LCing... Yes, thanks, Buffy...I am waiting for the "biscuit" advice, too, from our Judy.. Tomorrow night is the last 2 hours of Downton Abbey...(cry, cry)..Should be good.. That was fast... Thanks, Judy..I will try that Red Lobster one sometime, because the one that only had coconut flour wasn't that whoppie..Thanks for the expert advice...

Ahhh, I knew I could count of our Anna, er Judy!!!
The cheesy ones it is! I have everything I need for them. I have been meaning to get these tried anyway b/c Grant loves those biscuits from Red Lobster. I must get a waffle maker, that sounds good for breakfast, I am really burnt out on eggs for b/fast. Yes, Carolyn, our last night of Downton is upon us, ![]() ![]() . Whatever shall we do? Me thinks we must all take a trip to England to visit the home, a friend of DD's went there this past summer, said it was wonderful. |

Hi!
I'm cleaning today because DS23 and his GF Emily will be here tomorrow. She has a job in NOLA and we're the first stop on their way south. He's helping her move in, and then will stop here again on his way back to Milwaukee. Only 1 more room to put together and a little dusting to do - then I can get to the paper piles in the kitchen. How do those happen? ![]() Judy - the biscuits sound amazing! Buffy - carbs are so yummy - and loud!! Earplugs, sweetie!! ![]() Carolyn - I'm 2 weeks behind on Downton . . . . ![]()

Well, for some reason, my biscuits ended up looking like cookies but the taste was good so that's all that counts, right?
. Judy is right on the garlic and Parmesan, comes through very strongly, I cut back on it but think next time I will cut those 2 things in half. |

I hate posting this after the baby Grayson post, but some of you may want this free 200-page cookbook from George Stella.

I put the oregano on his feet. Nothing happening yet.
Will let you know.If he's up to it, we'll be going swimming with ds & the kiddo's. But I highly doubt it. I've been wanting to try swimming again. Since I'm at an acceptable wt. and the thyroid is getting closer to regulated, I might just be able to stand the cold water. That remains to be seen too. Would like to get a better swim suit, but shopping is so limited here. Catalogs seem to be the only option, but then you can't try them on. Don't want to expose any more then I have to. Judy, how do you do in the pool? Isn't it too cold?

If it the water was cold and it was not enclosed I would not consider it. You are very brave! If you choose to shop online (I know it's difficult...) look for CLEARANCE suits at Eddie Bauer and Lands End. They hold up very well. |

The pool in our town is quite cool, heated though & inclosed. If we go, we'll try the pool in the neighboring town. DH said its warmer. The good thing, for me, is there's a hot tub.
Thanks for the bathing suit tip. I'll look online for those. I would like the boy-cut bottom, & not so low-cut top... they don't seem to come with both, in the catalog here, its either or... |

Good morning.
Thanks for your prayers for Grayson. Geremi was on high amounts of insulin during her pregnancy which affected the baby. He was taken to Wichita with low blood sugar, dehydration, and jaundice. I think he will fine as soon as he is in the NICU and will get what he needs. Geremi had a Csection so she is getting out today. I think her mom will drive her to Wichita. They are neighbors and church members. I love that suit!!! I saw George's free offer with a ten dollar donation to his site. I think it is in PDF form, isn't it??? |
