I did embarrass myself afterward though... the pastors & I were looking at the library, discussing some "changes" when one pastor saw a mouse... he yelled a mouse! So, of course my automatic response was to run & stomp it, while they all just watched in shock OOPS! I guess that wasn't lady-like? Booby birds... that's a new one to me. ![]() Last edited by DebbyL; 01-10-2013 at 10:12 PM.. |

Just woke up a little while ago, don't feel too good yet, have a headache and BP high but will give it an hour and see how I feel. Even got up in the night to take my pain meds on schedule so I was surprised to wake up with the headache as bad as it is.
Oh my, sigh, I am ready to be over this. Don't know if I mentioned that this week while all this was going on, DD#3 had some minor female surgery done and has had a migraine through it all and her BP is too high!!! Her DH is keeping a close eye on her but I sure wish she could get to feeling better. The one good piece of news is that I dropped some more weight, saw 181 this AM. I haven't got much of an appetite and of course don't feel like cooking and the one bad thing about LC is that you can't just order in or have people pick up all the carby comfort foods we relied on in the past. I do have some soup and am falling back on egg salad. Sure wish those pesky eggs would peel themselves. I know you can buy ones already peeled but I worry a little about how long those are on the shelf? I guess they probably have a sell by date on them. Heartier meals just don't appeal right now.

I guess the BP will take time and the headache will take time. I think you put up with this for so long before you had to take action, it's got to feel very old to you and ready to kick it out the door! ![]() Prayers for you and your DD#3 and for all the caretakers (for whom I have great admiration). Thank goodness you have SOMETHING. I hear you about heartier meals not appealing. Remember Ouizoid's flour recipe and possibly make a biscuit? It will be less dry if you use 1Tbsp. coconut flour and 1 Tbsp. almond flour instead of all coconut flour. Heck put a little HWC for some of the liquid or ALL of the liquid. You'll have biscuits in a couple of minutes and that is comforting. I made a little cake for myself last night - I put in ALL the spices I could find - allspice, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and something else I can't remember. AWESOMELY good. Frosted in about 1.5 oz. cream cheese mixed with vanilla DaVinci. FABULOUS. (very comforting). I could only eat half of it, it's so surprisingly filling - must be the oat fiber. And the other half if missing this morning. I accuse DH, but I cannot blame him - it's delicious! I hope your day is stress-free and we get better news about DD#3.

Judy, I keep thinking of the little cakes, will try to do one of those today. I still haven't tried my new gingerbread DaVinci syrup, that sounds good or the biscuit really sounds good. They are so filling, I could make one and that would take me all day to eat. It is interesting how filling they are, like you said, must be the oat fiber. Maybe Debbie's mouse got away and came and stole you half a cake
![]() Debby, your story reminded me of a friend I used to work with. Very pretty, very feminine lady who grew up on a ranch with 1 brother. Said while she and her husband were still dating, they were out walking on the ranch one day and he said, careful, snake, at which point she promptly shot the snake , never missed a beat. Not growing up in TX or on a ranch, I didn't realize it was pretty common to always have a gun with you while out on the ranch. Lots of poison snakes in TX. Just got a text from DD. Her BP is normal this AM. They gave her Vicoden after her surgery and she was so sick and I suggested it could be that, I can't take vicoden. She stopped that yesterday afternoon and said she did feel better so hoping that was part of the problem. MK, hope you get to go to the airport with DH tomorrow to pick up your son, I know you can't wait to hear all about his trip b/c we all can't wait to hear about it ![]() Last edited by Buffy45; 01-11-2013 at 08:42 AM.. |

![]() Well that's practically the definition for the Eat Fat Get Thin way of eating, as well as the Nutritional Ketosis way of eating - too much protein can be converted to sugar. Sounds like you're "getting it" just fine! |

Linda, I think you have been on the NK threads, but can't remember for sure. Spend some time reading on those threads
Nutritional Ketosis / High Fat, Low Carb - Low Carb Friends I am doing the NK and it is working great for me and has for some others. Now, I will say that several are struggling with weight loss on them but otherwise seeing improvements. Also, the EFGT approach is great. But, a lot of people have found that they have to cut protein b/c like Judy says, it can be converted to sugar. Are you keeping a food log and if so, how much protein are you eating a day? There are formulas that help you figure out the right amount of protein you should be eating and it is way lower than a lot of people on LC had been eating. And, it takes a while for some of those people to get used to the lower protein, they are hungry b/c of it. That is where the higher fat comes into play. It is what fills you up. My suggestion is always to pick a plan and try to devote at least 30 days without tweaking. That way you really know whether it is working or not. Also, for the first week or so, don't worry about how much you eat, just eat to satisfaction. During that week figure out your protein requirements, set your carb limit low, don't pay attention to fat or calories. Then the next week work on getting your levels to where you want them and then go from there. Kristn would be a good one to help you since you are so close to goal. She has been LC for years but could not get the last lbs off to get to goal, finally NK was what allowed her to do so and it took her a while to figure out just what worked for her but she hit her goal and has been maintaining since Aug. Reddarin is also one who can help you figure out your protein levels but he and Kristn aren't really on the same page when it comes to calories, etc. so thus the 2 different threads. But, they are both great and very helpful. And hang out with this group for the help with EFGT and great fun and support!!! They never even kicked me to the curb for several years while I was out wondering around in high carb fatty girl land ![]() |

Hey, that's my hometown, Buffy!!
So glad you're feeling better and still hoping that BP comes down more and that pain leaves. I'm glad you're staying on top of it, that's so important. If I lived closer I'd bring you a steak!! That's LC comfort food for me, for sure! |

Thanks everybody. I am not going to give up. My body needs this way of eating. And thank you for the encouragement. I am just a whiney baby. My mind is just a mess from dieting all these years. So will stop whinning and just eat this way and watch what happens.
Thanks for listening. And Buffy just keep getting better and better. ![]() |

Hi gals..
Had some ladies over this morning, and they "liked" my almond flour pumpkin bread.. Just went to do SB at the gym and home again..I think it is eggs and sausage for dinner tonight..maybe a tiny piece of the pumpkin bread. Oh..Debby..you need to go on Survivor...LOL.. Linda: Yup..even if someone isn't losing, a LC diet is the best diet ever health-wise, at least for me.. I loved that DAbbey facebook page...So very clever..clever, clever.. Buffy..Do they know why your bp shot up?? Is it a mystery???
