Oh no, is there calorie counting?
Hi, I am new to this site and low carb living. I started a week today on my own and during that time I have been reading your posts and reading from "second opinion" website and other low carb websites. I need to lose about 10 to 15kg and continue on a low carb lifestyle. I am trying the EFGT plan with enthusiasm but after a week of no weight change and after reading some of the posts here, that I may have to count calories and start weighing fat protein etc. is this true? I thought I could eat as much as I felt I needed in more or less the ratios described without counting calories. I really hope this is true and if so, are there any studies showing that it does work...I guess I am just eager to continue enjoying this plan without the worry that, once again, I will be measuring weighing and counting...please advice : )

Calories still count, unfortunately. Some of us have broken feedback loops that we continue to eat even though we're not physiologically hungry. We're bored, depressed, irritated, etc. We graze instead of eating meals. Sometimes people notice a change in these eating patterns but sometimes, for some people, they still have to count everything. I am not on EFGT, but I am one of those that I do have to count my carbs, protein and calories. I will eat very high protein, calorie dense foods because that's what tastes good to me.

Yes, Silvi..Portions count..unless you are 25 and an athlete and male. My LC doctor told me to stick around 1300 or so for weight loss..Carbs count more than calories for sure.
But, it is best to write things down or use ****** - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to keep track.. Best of luck..Join us in our December thread. |
