I went a little overboard with TOMS shoes . . . but it's such a good cause!
![]() For Fall - they're wool with fleece inside! Gold Metallic will look so cute with jeans . . . . And Classic Navy that goes with everything! If you don't know about TOMS - The goal behind TOMS shoes is to end poverty in third-world countries. They're based out of California and they give away a pair of shoes to a needy child in a third world country for every pair of shoes they sell.

Hi Carolyn,
The Isocort does help. I can't sleep when I take a nap! Have energy all day & even though I wasn't feeling exhausted when I went to bed an hour + late... I slept fine. Pretty cool, actually. Now I'm gonna have to figure out how to handle all that extra time! ![]() I still only took one tablet (half of what the naturopath told me was starting out slow). Hopefully that will be all I have to take. I'm going to be converged upon by my 7 grandchildren + 2 friends, & 4 parents + Grampa soon... Oh my, hope we have enough to eat. Trying to stay calm & cool. Didn't knock myself out with cleaning, or cooking, KISS principle in action. Hope you're all having a great Saturday! ![]()

Those are cute shoes and a great cause..I wonder if they sell them around here..
Debby: There was a lady on the LC cruise who had to take a nap in the afternoon everyday or she wouldn't be good for anything..She was looking into adrenal fatigue. Yikes...that is a lot of company. Don't knock yourself out with cleaning cuz you will just have to do it again when they leave.. |

Carolyn there are Toms in Tulsa. They are very popular shoes and of COURSE MK has the popular shoes!
(edited to add I'm kind of envying the metallic for the jeans...)Congrats to the losers! I lost one pound or two - I don't know. I've lost 16 pounds since June 4. Carolyn you are doing the Slow Burn and it would be odd if you didn't add some muscle. I finally ordered my DVDs today. I thought they were surprisingly difficult to find. Hope I got the right thing. Debby - what Carolyn said. Save the cleanup for when they're gone. Just make sure the Drano and Clorox are out of reach of grandchildren and grampa! Honestly, though, sounds like a great gathering.

Oh...thanks, Judy..MK has all the popular shoes..She and Buffy are our professional shoppers..
Yes, the DVDs are hard to find..They are on Fred's website..You won't regret getting them at all..The middle one is the one I use 2 times a week..It gives the whole routine with the times, etc..You just follow along..Takes 30 minutes..Watch the others, too for more information.. |

Much to the chagrin of my husband... but since I got sea-sick when the ship was moving, it was a great escape for me. LOVED it!Dinner & visiting went really well. The adults ate first, since all the kids were outside playing & not really hungry yet. Then we fed them & there was plenty for everyone. Just perfect. Since it was a beautiful day, the kids stayed outside most of the time & we all got to have a great visit. Yep, I left the cleaning for another time. ![]() |

I really hate to admit how lazy I have become in advancing years but let's face it, I have become lazy.
I really would like to try the NK theory but it is so daunting to figure out the ratios of what I should eat and the percentages of protein, fat, carbs, etc. And throw in my diabetes and I really get confused. I would like a diet center or doctor to go visit that would figure all this out for me, my BF, etc. and then hand me my paper that says: Eat this, don't eat that. Eat so much of this and so much of that and never ever eat this. Do you guys think there is such a place? I know if I restrict carbs like that, I would need to adjust my meds. Lazy holiday sunday. Spent yesterday with DS and DGS, then the drive home so today I think I am just going to stay home. Tomorrow I am supposed to go with a couple of friends to check out a new outlet mall in our area.

Hi ladies..
Took my first cruise ever in May, as many of you know..I took the 24 hour dramamine and had some seasick cream with me in case of emergencies..I was fine..be prepared.. Debby: Glad you had fun with your kids/grandkids, etc..Outside is where kids should be.. We need an Ollie picture, Mema... Judy: I'm behind on fashion, too... Ds bought a smoker..He envisions himself watching college football on Saturdays while smoking some sort of meat. He has a nice balcony.. The Kansas teams played well yesterday..Let's hope they keep it up.

Hi!
We're on the road home. Only 3 hours to go! Buffy - I was reading Wheat Belly and it's supposed to help diabetes a lot! They do tell you exactly what to eat and what to avoid. It might be worth a peek. Carolyn - rumor has it that you're adorable just as you are!! Debby - 9 kids??!! Yikes and fun all at the same time! |

That is essentially what we're doing here with the Eat Fat Get Thin. We are already low carb, but we eat more fat and eat less protein. Our guy Barry Groves and evidently many others have found that eating too much protein can stall a weight loss or even make you gain. They say the body turns the extra protein into fat. So we eat fat to feed our body optimally, and eat enough protein so we don't lose muscle mass. If you have 9 kids coming over for a sleepover you get a pass and can eat all the protein you want. (Plus you're at goal? Right? Or near it?) |

Buffy here are calculations a post from the NK thread by Kristn.
I saw somewhere that as we get older, higher body fat percentages are appropriate/acceptable. So I think that 25% figure below is a little low. And on the NK thread they are saying to eat to your goal weight, not where you are now. From that NK thread: "Do you have a goal weight? At 130 and 25% fat your protein requirement is: 130*.75=97.5 (goal lbm) 97.5*.6=58.5 (low end of protein requirement) 97.5*1=97.5 (high end of protein requirement) So for a goal weight of 130@25%BF your range is 58.5-97.5. Most of us have felt that we needed to start at the lower end of the range. So 60is is probably right for you if this is your goal. If your goal weight is higher than 130 you can substitute that number for 130 in the above calculation". So that's how you do the calculation. Honestly the way we're eating on this threat is already that way. They are measuring their blood ketones (and I am too and so is Carolyn) to see that they are in ketosis for optimal weight loss. Buffy I completely 'get' not wanting to change every single little thing about how you eat and what you eat. It's a huge process and involves family and friends. If you are doing all right the way you are and are happy and healthy.... not a lot to complain about! (well for me ) |

![]() Thanks also for the formula for protein, what would the formula be for fat? How about carbs? My protein is right on... just wondering how far off the rest is. What I'm doing works for me. |

That's what I thought - whatever you were doing worked for you.
And I think that's the key. We're all tweaking to find what works best and YOU have ARRIVED! The NK is possibly slightly higher fat than Barry Groves but I'm not positive about that. The NK deal is to keep the protein low enough to get in ketosis (without losing lean muscle mass) and obviously keep carbs low. The rest is glorious glorious fat. |

Kind of - carbs are still lower than you are eating, I think.
Fat is the predominant food. I am eating 54g protein a day, 27g carbs and 135g fat. I rarely get that goal though. I am always under in every respect. Fat makes you full and never wanting to eat. |

I bet just eating lower carb will make a difference. This nutritional ketosis stuff is so ..... time-taking! Just eating lower carb will be easier - I'm sure you know how to do that.
It's not such a "project". |

I agree, I have done that a lot in the past but not since being type II.
I am going to ask this on the main board but what are your favorite tracking programs? I know a lot of people use ******. I used to use a program called Life Form but it hasn't kept up with current windows so is outdated. |
