We had BBQ for dinner too. I had ribs and smoked green beans. Delicious! Then we went to see Hope Springs.

Mary Kay,
Dear,

Fat bombs typically contain coconut oil.

You might wish to turn your teeny tiny petite self away from the fat bombs.
*whisper* coconut oil!!!

Rebecca Latham's recipe:
These are the five ingredients for my Fat Bombs, which you stir together well:

3/4 cup melted coconut oil
9.5 Tbs. (150g) almond butter
60 drops (about 3/8 tsp.) liquid Stevia
3 Tbs. cocoa
8 Tbs. (1 stick) melted salted butter

Pour a scant 2 Tbs. into each of 24 candy or mini muffin molds. I use a silicone candy mold that I bought at Michael's Crafts. If you prefer, you can use those little paper mini muffin cups, lined up on a cookie sheet.

I place my candy mold on a small cookie sheet first, and then fill it, then put it in the freezer. If you try to put it in the freezer without first putting it on a cookie sheet, you'll be sorry.

Freeze for at least 30 minutes, then pop out the Fat Bombs and store them in a bag or other container in the freezer. You can keep them in the fridge, but as soon as you hold one with your hot little fingers, it will melt really fast. Frozen, it melts slower.

Nutritional info for one Fat Bomb:
141 calories
14.22g fat (90.9%)
1.53g protein (4.3%)
1.67g carbs (4.8%)
Posted by Rebecca Latham at 8:24 PM

For my taste, it needed an extra tablespoon of cocoa.

I had BBQ for dinner too!

Yes, the fat bombs keep me completely happy not eating or thinking about eating anything else. I am 13 pounds from my goal so I'm not losing quickly. I think higher fat is THE KEY along with lowering protein intake. Those two things are like magic as long as you are eating low carb. So... those THREE things. HA HA

So that didn't make a lot of sense. But I know you are on the Nutritional Ketosis thread too, so maybe it DID make sense!

Morning!

Will venture out later today to find the candy mold. Maybe our Hobby Lobby has them, they are closer to me than Michael's. And think I will use my Vitamix to make some almond butter, have a bag of almonds that has been in the freezer and needs to be used up. Or, will buy a jar when I am out.

Sandy, how was Hope Springs, still on my bucket list.

Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather.

I have to tell you all that my body is loving the MP/LC/HF plan. I have lowered my doses of my diabetic meds and my BG readings are perfect every time I test. I have known all along from my previous LC dieting that this is the right plan but was so lazy and just letting the diabetes meds do the work for me. But, I also know that those are hard on my organs. Also, seeing the scale move on this is so encouraging, which is why I quit LC in the past, I overate so much on calories and protein that the scale just did not move. But, and since Monday is the beginning of my 2nd week, next week will tell the true story, will I continue to see the scale move? That will be the incentive I need to keep me doing this. I know this past week loss that I have seen is just the whoosh you get from coming off the carb fest I have been on. You know, if I was really smart, knowing it was better for my body would be incentive enough, but I really have gotten lazy in my golden years. Time to wise up Buff!

Portcop, I eat between 1-3 of the fat bombs a day, as a treat and when I need to get my number of fat grams up. Just remember, you have to work them into your nutritional needs, they are good and one could easily overeat them.

Judy, thanks for posting that fat bomb recipe. Sorta grosses me out, but in a good way, lol.

Buffy, I'm new to this for BG control and have newbie's fear going for me, so I apologize in advance if I sound obnoxious. I've been picturing my worst case scenario if I don't maintain control, so I'm sure you've thought about what your worst case scenario would be too.

I recently met a woman at church who may be living the result of ignoring the danger with failing kidneys, little circulation in her purple legs, poor eyesight and way too much weight and while I feel so, so bad for her, picturing that as a possible future freaks me out. Maybe it didn't have to be that way?

All I know right now, is that eating this way has lowered my bg numbers into a high-normal/low pre-diabetes range and made me feel better with no raging hunger. For that, I'm grateful.

Deb

Deb, you are totally right! I have been relying on the meds to control my BG, but ignoring the fact that by doing that, they also have side effects that might cause just as much or worse damage. In fact, I met a woman the other night who feels that metformin, one of the drugs most widely used for diabetes has caused her liver disease???

Thanks for posting about the woman at your church, I need wake up calls like that.

Hi ladies..

Back from Manhattan..What a great game..It was like 51 to 14 or something like that..
The fans are so great there..It was lots of fun...I picked up some Carbmaster Yogurt at Dillons..

Hmmm..Those fat bombs sound wonderful..I think I will make them after my cruise..just in case..

Buffy..We are so proud of you..You can do it and be way down in Onederland soon..
Honestly, many of the LC doctors don't think that met is damaging to anything..But, this gal might have been taking other things..So sad..

Our pastor (65) who retired last summer was a Type II..noncompliant with his numbers or food..His dr. here wasn't the greatest (but was a church member)..Well, he and his wife moved to Oregon, went to a new doctor and that doctor told him he was in kidney
failure..HUGE wakeup call..He got on insulin, started eating better, and lost a bunch of weight..

Hi Sandy and Welcome back, Cindy.. I hope you had some good riding weather..

MK: Hmmm..are you going to try the bombs?

Welcome home Carolyn! So glad you had fun

I am only on day 6 Carolyn, and you know my track record, so let's take it a day at a time,

I downloaded some tracking software programs to try out, hmph, don't like any of them as my old, old program that won't work on windows 7 and darn, I had so many foods on it that I had created, and recipes, and it was so easy to use. I suppose I will get used to and like one of these.

Good night everyone!

Hi,
May I join your group?

I have just finished the EFGT book last night. I am intrigued by the plan. Some other Atkins threads have caught on to the effectiveness of lowering protein and upping fat and have been doing well which led me to read Barry Groves book and peruse your threads, including the sticky ones.

I do need some guidance and have questions if you experienced EFGT's don't mind.

Before I bombard this thread with questions, a little about myself.

My WOE for the past 10 yrs have mainly been Atkins 72 and his DANDR methods which has worked in the past but I'm 10 yrs older, I'm gaining a few lbs every year now since menopause is starting to set in. I'm 52 yrs old, 153 lbs, goal weight is 140 lbs, 5'7". Atkins isn't working so well for me anymore and I've been hovering 5 lbs give or take for 2 years now. Lowering my calories to 1200 yields me a few lbs loss but lately I've been so hungry.

If I should post my questions on a separate thread, please let me know. I don't want to thread jack this one.

Thank you

Thanks for the welcome

PortCop - Yep, we are both on the Atkins 72 thread currently. Hi again! Thanks, but I did check out the Nutritional Ketosis thread about a week ago and have to admit to being befuddled and I really don't want to buy an expensive keto device.

I just want a plan that I can live with and help me control my weight and :::keeping my fingers crossed::: help me shed a few pounds too.

I know I didn't get the go ahead to ask questions but if I could, may I ask one right now?

1) What is a good link (you can PM me) to use to figure out the proper protein needs via calculator? I have tried different sights and the grams are all over the place with the exception of a couple that seem to mark it at 55grams.

At least it would be a starting point so I can figure on the grams/percentages of the other 2 (fats and carbs). I have been a ****** member for years and love it, am comfortable with it and they do tell you percentages based on what your foods are for that day.

Thank you Buffy and Port. I will check it out. I am also on another thread with MomtoZeke and she recommended me to go there so I guess I will!

After I figure that out, I'll post some questions regarding the book.

Oh and I do have keto pee strips. I haven't used them because I take vitamins that "colors" it yellow

ZeketoMom figured mine out and Auntie Em simplified her calculation based on a European doct's forumula. I'm in good shape to start figuring this whole thing out.
