Oh yes, I know it will lower BP, even without weight loss, but hopefully with both, I can gradually taper off some or all of them.

Hi girls!! Been busy but in a good way. Bought some pumpkin beer yesterday to make a Pinterest recipe called Pumpkin Ale Bread, a sweet pumpkin bread that calls for pumpkin beer. Not really a beer drinker but the recipe calls for only 1 cup and it is a 12oz bottle. What to do, what to do.......

Ahhh, let's see, what can we all come up with to help Cindy solve her problem, what to do with the rest of that bottle of beer???? And, it is Sat. night, hmmmmm. Bet she figures it out!!!!
I have to get ready soon to go to a bridal shower, it is a brunch, come and go affair, then going to run a few errands afterwards. Almost through my 3rd week of new WOE, happy, contented, losing and this morning I hit my highest ketone reading yet for AM, 1.6. I am in the zone baby! |

Welcome home Carolyn! I'm so glad you had a good time and it sounds like you might've even made some LC/wheat free converts while you were away. Good for you! I bet it was beautiful up there right now. And good for Gary for dancing!! You'll get any extra cruise baggage off in no time, I'm sure.

Today is the beginning of my 4th week on NK. I am
at my fickle scale since today is my posting weight day and although it gave me 198.8 on both Friday and Sunday, today it smirks a 199.8 at me! But, I was honest and posted it anyway even though I had told everyone I had hit 10lb loss. Still a nice loss for the week and really, I am very happy about it. I might need that loss more next week, ![]() I suppose you all know about Arnica cream or gel for aches and pains? I had never heard of it, it is homeopathic and you can buy it OTC but it works pretty darn good. I have a problem with aches in both sides of my neck/shoulders and especially while at the computer, where I spend way too much time. Anyway, kind of works like bengay. Also good I guess for healing, lightening bruises, all kind of things. Going to be a busy week, leaving Friday to meet up with my sister's in Santa Fe where we are going to celebrate one of their birthdays. I hope American Air quits acting up and our flights are on time, etc.

Numbers look good Debby. For me, the carbs would be just a little high and the fat a little low but we each have to figure out our own formula.

Sharon, I apologize.I just remembered which pumpkin muffins you were talking about, and yes I sure did post them earlier in this thread. I thought they were fantastic - or at least a really good memory! For some reason my mind went immediately to pumpkin cream cheese muffins which now sounds like my next thing to try and wonder why I'm not losing weight! ![]() Honestly I just put a call in to a naturopathic office here. I'm going to get a complete thyroid workup with adrenal values, too. I am genetically predisposed (mother and sister are hypo) and just in the last couple of weeks my skin is much dryer, I can barely sleep at night, etc etc. Won't hurt to check on all that. If it's valid at least it can be treated. If not, we can rule it out. Does low carb seem to have something to do with thyroid issues?

Hi my dear friends..
Buffy is back in Onederland.. Weight report: 5 pounds up..So, back on plan..I'm going to try the high fat version of our plan and see what happens.. Okay..Dd went to the lady endo at KU Med. She is fine..The endo is trying her on a combo of Synthroid and cytomel..(twice daily on the cytomel). I was pleased as I was afraid that she would put her only on Synthroid..Hopefully this will help in the weight department. I'm still "rocking"...but had my Bible Study this morning and didn't goof up too much..LOL.. One of our shows on the ship was The Drifters.(Under the boardwalk, up on the roof, save the last dance for me)..They were fabulous..3 of them are still there..probably around 75 or so in age as their first song was in 1953..Everyone knew all the words in the audience, so it was an older crowd..LOL

So glad to hear from you again! Pfft - 5 pounds is nuthin'. Hope it was fun putting it on! |

Found the pumpkin muffin recipe, will try it this afternoon. If I like it, will freeze some for my trip.
I love that kind of music Carolyn, my era. Yes, we know our Carolyn, she will zap that 5 lbs in a hurry and I am sure some of it is traveling water weight. |

This recipe was posted on the new recipe board, Carolyn, for high fat, low carb, moderate protein eating.
There was some discussion of to whom this should be attributed, and Dottie thought this was Cheri or Cherie's recipe. I'm sorry I didn't get the name perfectly. Maybe you all know her. Just to let you know I made this for lunch. It is delicious! Low Carb Southwestern Taco Soup Number of Servings: 8 By Cheri, LowCarbFriends Ingredients 1 lb. ground beef (I used ground turkey because it needed to be cooked) 1/2 c onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 T cumin 1 t chili powder 2 10 oz cans Rotel tomatoes, undrained (tomatoes with green chilies) 2 cans beef broth 1/2 c heavy cream 8 oz cream cheese, cubed salt, to taste In a large soup pot, brown the beef with the onion and garlic; drain. Add spices and cook a couple of minutes before adding the tomatoes, broth and cream. Bring to a rolling boil and gradually add the cream cheese, stirring until completely melted and smooth. Season with salt to taste. Makes 8 1-cup servings. |

Oh also - just to fit with our moderate protein, I only used 6 oz. of ground meat in that soup. I also added an extra cup of beef broth. It is delicious and satisfying. I can see having that throughout the winter and being supremely happy!
