It is almost 9 p.m. and dh hasn't packed a thing..LOL..We are leaving at 6:30 a.m. for the airport..Ds came by for "cat" instructions and dinner. He has been doing Slow Burn..and is losing fat while gaining muscle, but the scale stays the same, but his belt is too big..and his face is thinner..That is a good thing.. |

![]() I'm very happy its Friday! Got some difficult book-work done today, so tomorrow should be a breeze to finish that one up. (I had today off work at the church, so worked at home.) Also ordered a new pair of glasses, which I've been needing to do for a while. ![]() Quote:
Clarolyn, didn't you pack for him? Men... Have a wonderful time! ![]() Happy for your DS. Sounds like he's doing great! Well, with all the exercise & wood-chucking... I should lose some of that pound tomorrow! ![]() |

Morning!
Is Carolyn back yet? We miss you Carolyn, ![]() ![]() ![]() Port, don't get hung up on daily weights, or what you might have eaten the day before that you think caused it. You will drive yourself crazy doing that. Just eat to the plan for at least a week at a time, go by a weekly weight or trend and adjust from there. Even a week without a loss you might notice your clothes are much looser, your tummy is flatter and you will know you are headed in the right direction. Also, could be fluid retention, not having had a BM the day before, lots of things can make your weight go up and down. I know, I know, it is so easy to point this out to someone else but when it is you, you want to make immediate adjustments for it. I truly understand. ![]() Think it is going to be a quiet weekend for us. DD sent me a text this morning asking which new atkins book I bought, she is thinking of picking one up. I told her to just run over and get my book and I will also give her the Phinney one to look at. She is sooooo a carb addict that I know LC would work for her but she has to be the one to decide to do it, plus, with her job she has very little time so it is much harder for her to plan meals, etc. Day 13 of being back on LC and it is going great, I feel soooooo much better. My evening snack was a T of grass fed butter , , actually, it was delicious and I even thought "who needs popcorn" . I just let it slowly melt in my mouth! My name is Buffy and I LOVE FAT!

You know Buffy, that is a great reason to keep up with these message boards. You are right. It was thrilling to lose 2-3 pounds/week, but just going down is really sufficient.
And as you aptly say, "eating like a queen." Every time I eat something I shake my head thinking how many YEARS I ate poorly, white-knuckling the hunger and hoping to find a good reason to "cheat". Never again. I really love everything I eat now. THANK YOU BUFFY!! I only had my picture up there for you all to see who I really was. I have privacy worries... probably unfounded, but what would I do without them? ![]()

Also - I think it's a good start for your dd to get the book. Some of your enthusiasm will no doubt rub off.
See my join date? July 2011. It took me almost a year to get the information and wrap my head around just eating low carb. I had one of the Eades books from the 80s and ate low carb off and on, but did not stick with it. Once I started stalking, er, *ahem*, reading the EFGT threads, THAT'S when it clicked. I read tons of blogs and websites probably really familiar to all of you, but realized how easy it would be to eat fat and stay full. And not clog my heart because I would be eating low carb. *click* It might be the door opening for your dd, but it's a lot of work to a young person who is busy working. I keep hoping I'll be able to dog-paddle my way out of my own work enough to prepare a couple of weeks' worth of meals for my own dd - just to get her going. But so far it's only a dream of mine. And today we are halfway through September. You know what that means? *BLINK* IT'S CHRISTMAS. |

Good Afternoon,
Port - You'll get rid of that water weight in no time. Pound the waters down today. Judy: Time flies, doesn't it? I'm never prepared for it. My DH, his mom and aunt are born in Oct, 2 friends in Nov and then it's Thanksgiving and Xmas around the corner. I'm never prepared and get it all done eventually. Buffy: Loved your statement. I love fat too! ![]() MaryKay: Sounds like a fun day in store for you! Enjoy! I'm off to the grocery store to get some of that No-Salt potassium stuff. Wow - did I ever get a wake up call this morning. Stretched and both calves cramped up big time. I had to get up and walk and drink some water. Then, I couldn't get back to sleep. I still feel the after effects - nasty! I weighed in and gained 7 lbs but that's due to the Progesterone the doc put me on to get rid of the month long TOM. In 4 days, I'm done with it. No more hormones. I gotta let nature take it's course and perhaps a procedure to get rid of fibroid and ovarian cyst. Must talk to doc next week. I'm staying on course diet wise. Not into exercise so much right now - feeling like it's futile right now. Hi to anyone I missed Will check back later.

DD has tried LC and she agrees, it is what she needs. 2 problems, the time factor, carby diets like WW are so much easier b/c you can eat so many quick and easy things AND, she is truly truly truly a carb addict. More so than anyone else in my family. She does lose on LC, just has not had any success sticking to it. Maybe this time will be different. And, in the past, even when I did LC for months on end, I didn't lose so wasn't such a good example. Pretty sure it was excess protein/calories but will need a month or more of success to be able to show her this way works, praying that it does for me.
And, she kind of has a phobia of fats, grew up exactly when LF was promoted as the only healthy woe. |

Buffy it seems to be working for anyone who gets the numbers right and actually eats within those numbers. Including you.
The excitement you've shown will probably be contagious. But I get being hooked on carbs, too. Plus being young - you think you can jog around the block a couple of times and you're ready to go out with your friends and be fabulous! I'm older and more jaded. HA HA!! ![]() |

I just love this way of eating. I lost most my weight with the South Beach Diet but found I was eating way too much food. I never went to the bad foods but ate way too much of the foods on the plan because of not being satisfied. I proved one thing you can gain weight by doing that as I re-gained 80 pounds before I could get thing back into control. SB is mostly a low carb lifestyle diet but it does encourage eating grains as long as they were whole grains. Well to make a long story short, after seeing that fat was a good thing and fruit and grains were questionable, I read a few books and listened to some of podcasts and here I am. So far I'm down 7 pounds and I can finally see my end goal weight happening. Love the comfortable feeling of not being hungry. I'm not ruled by my stomach anymore....Yeah!
Buffy, I got the X too. There is a lot of good advice this morning. I feel right at home here. ![]()

Sharon, once you get in ketosis, which the higher fat, modified protein does, you won't be starving. I am doing 1200-1400 calories a day, sometimes just a little over and am not hungry. The fat is so satisfying.
