Morning!
Went out to dinner club last night and did good, had diet coke and water to drink. Then ordered a bunless cheeseburger and grilled veggies. Had a great time with the girls. 7 out of 9 made it so a good turnout. Got my ketone meter yesterday, tested right away and was in the zone, tested before bed, even higher number and then tested this morning, below what the zone would be. May take a little more time before I am where I need to be consistently on that. Used my new candy mold to make the fat bombs yesterday, that is PERFECT. Makes each piece exactly the same size and very pretty. Glad I treated myself. Wow those things are good. MY DH always comments if I cook any kind of fish or smelly veggies. Blah, blah, blah, LOL. Debby, I hate a night like that when you are confined in a small space with others and can't sleep, makes for a very long night and a very tired day the next. Carolyn, how fun to meet up with the friend who sang at your wedding, wow.

Ooops, not a popular brand as I thought...It's WanJaShan - Naturally Brewed Organic Wheat Free Soy Sauce - 1g carb - 1g sugar, 11 calories. I found it in the grocery store. I was thinking LaChoy but that's just salt-reduced.
I have Braggs brand too - liquid aminos. Is that the kind you have? I better make the Crack Slaw for all the bottles of Soy sauce I have! |

MK we are broccoli slaw peeps here too in our crack slaw.
But I haven't made it in a year and I am excited to add it to our list of easy-to-throw-together yummy foods. in the NK thread yesterday somebody posted a youtube link to an interview by the dietdoctor (the Swedish doc) with Dr. Phinney. He's been in ketosis for 7 years. I think the dietdoctor's upload name is something like eenstadt. Not sure. If I'd have ever found this way of eating years ago, I do not think I would have ever been so obsessed with food. Carolyn now that your hair is being done you can confidently pose for pictures during your cruise!

OK friends, I took 500mg. magnesium last night after dinner, and potassium and did not have leg or foot cramps last night.
So of course I want to order more. Blue, my bottles of magnesium are magnesium carbonate - and that's not what I want, is it? I want magnesium citrate? I am also taking magnesium in the morning - 250 mg. That's a lot of magnesium, but I don't think I have the good kind. Just wondering what 'strength' to order. Any advice from anyone is appreciated. |

Magnesium Oxide is more of a laxative. Magnesium Citrate is more for cramps. You know if you have too much Magnesium if you get diarheaa. |

Judy: You're welcomed. Also be sure to take your calcium supplement and potassium. The combo of the 3 should take care of the cramps as I've just read off the Nutritional book by Dr. A. He said don't bother with buying potassium pills, just use tht No-Salt stuff sold where regular salt is at the supermarket because that is made with potassium.
I'm planning on getting some next grocery shopping trip. |

Has anyone tried to make deep dish pizza crust with egg whites, unflavored protein powder and cream cheese? I came across a video of Marie Emmerich making this and so I tried it today. Turned out great and now planning on having pepperoni deep dish pizza with lots of cheese for dinner tonight.
I had enough batter left over to make a couple of trays of hamburger buns to freeze as well. |

Edit to add: I also have unflavored protein powder and don't know what to do with it. The other day I bought muffin top pans to make hamb rolls. Perfect timing! Last edited by BlueTopaz; 09-13-2012 at 04:02 PM.. |

Are you familiar with Maria Emmerich? She has a blog. I think if you google her name you will be able to find it. She has some videos now and this was one of them. I think it's close to the Revolution Rolls. I'm not sure how to put a link in to her site, sorry. I'm so computer illiterate lol.
The pizza was close to all protein except for the marinara sauce. You beat the egg whites for 5-7 mins to get them stiff and depending on how many whites you use add the protein powder and softened cream cheese with mixer set low. Then you put enough into a straight sided round pan and pop it in the oven at 350 for approx. 25 mins. or until brown. Be careful not to dry it out. While cooling it collapses and you have your crust ready for the toppings or you can freeze it.

Hey Judy, are your ketones staying above 0.5? Mine was 1.7 last night but 0.4 this AM, but tonight it was the 1.7 again. I think I read that morning readings were the lowest but I would like it to at least be over 0.5.
So much to learn but having fun doing so. And feeling so much better eating this way although I know that will even improve. |

Yes! A couple of days ago they were 3.3 which I don't think is good. I think it should be below 3 according to the NK thread.
You are right - the readings are lowest in the morning. Sheesh I hope it's OK to reference Dr. Phinney. I referenced youtube and I saw an interview with Dr. Phinney. It was very good. I think maybe Jimmy Moore, whom I also do not know if I may reference, said his readings were nearly always lowest in the morning and highest in the evening. I don't think he went below 0.5 though, even in the morning. Buffy have you seen his blog? Last edited by JMCM1; 09-13-2012 at 07:49 PM.. |

Hi Y'all,
![]() So Judy, you got a post removed? I had that happen to me once. They also sent me an email warning (something about competitors links)... telling me why. You didn't get an email? ![]() Well, I lost 1/4 lb. this morning. Leaving 1 lb. to go... however, I don't think all my fat deposits are thin enough, so will probably keep losing till they are. but I just want to get there to accomplish the goal.I had a different work-out today. We had 2 cords of wood delivered today. So I helped my DH to move & stack one in the woodshed. I guess we may be doing the other one tomorrow. Kind of cool to get something done with all the energy I spent! DH was really grateful too. ![]() Also went to the dentist today... had 2 fillings done, one on each side of the face. It was quite a challenge trying to eat my dinner & keep my lips shut! ![]() Well, hope you all have big losses with all that fancy cooking. ![]()
