MK, did you talk to your doctor about those supplements my DH is taking that have been so successful in reducing his chol? I'm still amazed at how well they worked!!
Up early, can't sleep, hate that!!! Weight held steady today. We went out to dinner for DGS's 27th b-day. I had steak, spinach and salad. Maybe not enough fat and too much protein. But it was good and it was fun. Challenging weekend coming up. Irish Fest here in KC with friends coming from Iowa. We all always have a great time! |

And MK do you have all your blood work so you can figure out the ratios? A lot of the reading I've been doing seems to dismiss the total number. It's the ratios that seem to matter.
Especially since these are not MY numbers and this is not happening to ME. |

Pro-Fibe and HeartSavior. The Pro-Fibe is a patented fiber product. You can google it and read about it. The HeartSavior is a plant sterol type supplement formulated by a cardiologist. I can't imagine her having any objections. DH's cardiologist was so thrilled with his results that she wrote down the names and where to order them from! And the HeartSavior is guaranteed or your money back. I didn't put much faith in that guarantee but with his excellent results we didn't even have to worry about it. If you do go on them, I'd get a follow-up blood profile done in about 3 months. That's how quickly they work! Plus if it goes down dramatically your Dr will probably want to adjust your meds.
Good luck!!

Hi everyone..
Oh, Sandy..I need to mention those to my dh as his dr. suggested statins..But, she had suggested doing the Fish Oil/Red Rice Yeast and he never did it..But now he has and will find out the result in December. I thought his numbers were okay.. Nice day...I think we are hiring a kid from church to stain our deck..Dh won't get around to it and he needs the money...and you really can't mess up a deck..unless you don't wash it off first or paint over the leaves..LOL.

My DH has taken fish oil forever and took red yeast rice before trying these. When he started these 2 is when he had the great results. His Dr kept pushing statins too and he kept telling them that he didn't want to take them. FINALLY they said "well, if you want to try an all natural approach, try plant sterols and stanols". Duh! It only took about 8-9 months for them to finally get the picture that he didn't want to take statins!!! And then like I said, once they saw his results they wanted to know exactly WHAT he was taking and WHERE can we find it. Maybe he made a small difference for the next patient who comes through that office and doesn't want to take statins. I hope so!
Good idea on the deck staining. Our's needs it again too but it's probably going to have to wait until next year. We just spent $400 on a spa repair that we weren't expecting! |

I like Skinnier Sept. as well.
Up early, eat breakfast and then off to see my little Oliver and get hair "renewed" ![]() Got my new Atkins book and the other one I ordered, I have to admit, I hate reading those kinds of books. And I am bad at not retaining that kind of info, so will skim and go to the "do this, not that" portion and then go back to read what I need to when I need that info. There is a good info on diabetes. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |

Sandy: I will order that supplement..Thanks.. Guys..There is an excellent podcast by Jimmy and Dr. Stephen Phinney entitled Long Term Weight Loss and Stalls.....It is extremely enlightening about LC weight loss, menopause, thyroid stuff, etc.......I put it on my ipod..and will listen to it several times for sure. Oh..I think I will weigh in tomorrow... |

Hi girls,
![]() For me, my naturopath has me on Isocort for low cortisol levels... they charged me $66 for it! I just found it online for $28 & free shipping... Grrr... oh well, if I need another bottle, I will know where to get my next one. Wondering if anyone out there has used it? I took one when I picked them up & noticed "warming-up" & feeling more alert right away (in a good way). Hope everyone enjoys the long week-end without "damage" ![]() |

Buffy, on the page, there is a link to download the mp3 (it is option 4). If you click on that and find where it downloads you can listen to it on your computer.
The one I downloaded is this: ATLCX (Episode 23): Long-Term Stalls & Weight Gain Even On A Well-Formulated Low-Carb Diet | Dr. Stephen Phinney You can google that. I am afraid to post a link. It's Jimmy Moore Ask The Low Carb Experts. Ask again if this is not clear. |

Buffy one other thing I did not mention -- when you find option 4, the mp3 download button, if you right click on that button, it will bring up a menu. I think the one I chose was "save link as" and then it offered the name "atlcx-23-phinney" and I saved it to my desktop. When I double-click on that, my media player will automatically play that podcast. Or like Carolyn you can transfer it to your ipod. I have a no-name mp3 player for audio books and things like this podcast.
Translation: I am not as hip as Carolyn. But we all knew that. We all knew that....
