Thanks Serena, I've been watching the Olympics too. Great stuff I'm LC now and love it, eating is a pleasure instead of worrying about if I'll gain, if I eat right on Low Carb I'm finding I love to eat with pleasure and the LC way I'm finding I will loose instead of gain

Hi ladies..and Sammi4:
Brett seems to be doing okay...He is a little reflective on the little irritating things in their relationship, so it wasn't perfect. Yes, LC is a great way to eat... |

Sandy, every time I am away from my computer, my subscription to this thread changes. So I can relate to your losing all your blog posts.
I had no notification for this thread, where I was previously subscribed, but I have other threads I watch (I'm interested in the nutritional ketosis thread but don't comment. When I did, I didn't get that warm welcome feeling I got from you all!) They are doing really the same thing we are doing but they are using meters to test that they are in ketosis. Expensive strips, they say, but people who have been several pounds over their goal weight for years are losing again and headed toward goal. So again, modifying the protein is proving to be successful for many. High fat, moderate protein, low carbs. They have had to tweak as much as we have, but they are very precise and accurate in their tweaks and in their reporting. It is interesting to watch. Carolyn you are lucky I was unsubscribed to this thread because my dh and I would have crashed your PF Changs dinner. Well, if I had been in town, that is. I was in Abilene visiting some dear college friends. We did virtually nothing except float in our friend's pool and talk and read books and eat dinner. My only plan deviation was probably way too much protein. I did not have a lot of choice, so when I did, I ate protein, and hardly any carbs, even from vegetables. Well, I take that back. We had wine every night, so I'm climbing back on the wagon! I had no weight gain from my trip, and no loss. But I am ready to start losing again. I think I will buy Slow Burn - I've had it checked out from the library, but I can see I'll need to have the book to use it. It makes good sense to me and is time-effective (or looks that way). Carolyn there was about 3/4" of rain in my gauge when I got back from the airport last night. Buffy I hope your Elvis concert was much fun.

There were some crazy strong thunderstorms through my area last night. We've got a lot of trees and branches down this morning. It's not as hot today but the humidity is terrible, and it's really bothering my asthma. I'm ready for summer to be over now, but I'm not much of a summer person in the first place.
The BF and I have been eating out more then normal the last two weeks and it's really slowing down my weight loss. But I love going out with friends and family so I don't want to say no. Oh well, this is going to be a long weight journey and I've gotta have some fun while I'm at it. Tonight is taco night and happy hour so I'll be eating shell-less tacos for dinner ![]()

Hi ladies and Sammi..
I was still at 150 this morning..Good news, cuz this is a Monday.. That would have been fun to meet, Judy..We were eating at 4:00 though..as dh got off a midafternoon plane. I like eating at 4:00, must be getting old..LOL. I did order one of the glucose blood/ketone meters and 10 sticks for about $40 at Diabetes warehouse just for fun. On the cruise, they mentioned being in ketosis was the way to lose...I think it is really interesting.. Oh, Sandy...Have fun in cool Colorado.. Laundry day..Brotherinlaw is riding his motorcycle down here tomorrow night then going on vacation with some buddies and their bikes..

Morning!
Elvis concert was very fun, ended up with 6 of us going so that made it even more fun. This guy did an amazing job on the songs, sounded very much like Elvis. One big advantage of being in ketosis is the appetite control. Hope Brett does ok Carolyn, if she is the one, then they will probably get back together and if she isn't, then better that they break up and both move on. I am sure they both gained from the relationship. It is interesting now that my 2 oldest grandchildren are college age and see them as they date, the older they get, the more serious each relationship is but it will be interesting to see who they end up with. DGS Grant who is 12 just finished his week at summer camp and had a wonderful time. Also, attended his first dances while at camp and had great couselors who really helped the kids learn how to dance and kept the kids mingling. Told DD it was great to do that while away at camp and not have to go through that at his school, where any misstep you make is always remembered. So hot here it is hard to want to do anything. Still working on closets when I have the incentive to do so.

Sounds nice, Carolyn.
I am working and hoping NOT to print too many recipes I hardly have time to make. Yesterday I found your thread about the low carb pasta - one more thing to try... |

Morning!
Carolyn, the fake Elvis was Kraig Parker, not sure how far he travels. He had a band and 2 backup singers so I think he performs quite a bit. MK, I have watched a couple of episodes of The Newsroom, and keep taping it, maybe I will get hooked on it. Still watching and waiting for another season of Downton Abbey to come back on. Meanwhile, The Real Housewives of New York City. Very cloudy here today as it was yesterday, waiting, waiting, waiting for a chance of rain though. |

Buffy, up here in Oklahoma we have a chance of rain today. Just a chance.
Hoping, hoping. I spent this last weekend in Abilene where it was cooler than Tulsa! The air conditioner in the older part of our house has only blown a fuse twice. |

Hi ladies..
I got my blood/ketone meter today..Well, I think the ketones in blood should be close to 1..but mine were .3..More fat/less protein and carbs.. Judy: Akk...I "heard" it might rain up here too, tonight..Gosh..sorry about the AC..I think hot weather causes systems to die.. We are having cod tonight..frozen..of course. I have some alfredo sauce, so I am going to bake it in that..or add it at the last few minutes..(I think so). KSU Erik Kynard got a Silver Medal in the high jump.. |

I am interested in that nutritional ketosis thread. Honestly I think they are doing what we are doing here but they are so precise. I just don't have time right now, but I am thinking of getting that meter, too. Good to know "where you are" in that ketosis realm...
We have a nice A/C guy who comes over as soon as we call, so we don't panic too much. Let's pray for rain! Congrats to the KSU silver medalist! |

Yes, it's here: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...ge-anyone.html
I don't think I did that right. But it's under challenges, then look for nutritional ketosis. Last edited by JMCM1; 08-08-2012 at 06:23 PM.. Reason: Link worked! |

Hello everybody from 9820' elevation! It's so nice and cool here and we're having a great time. We took a bike ride today that went from Vail Pass to Dillon. It was about 20 miles!! The first 12 were pretty easy, the last 8 was OMG for two oldsters who haven't been doing much lately due to high temps outside at home. But we made it and are very proud of ourselves. We came back to the condo and immediately got into the hot tub. I hope it helps our morning aches and pains, lol.
I'm interested in reading up on the nutri ketosis. I made salmon and salad tonight so we're trying not to be TOO bad while we're here. I'll try to check in again before we come home. Our condo is beautiful!!!!

Hi ladies..
Sandy...glad you got up..Those darned bike seats can hurt sometimes.. Had to make two salads for a meeting tonight. I made a lemon jello/lemon pudding one with pineapple/CoolWhip. I made it with SF stuff, but the pineapple juice, etc...had some carbs. and....a huge pasta salad with that fake crab..Fake crab has 14 carbs per 1/2 of a cup. I think I will eat before I go..or bring a protein bar. Ds is in MN with his boss today..He is going to be the Project Manager on his first big project, so he had to meet with the client to find out exactly what he wants..Hope it went well..and he combed his hair..LOL. |

Nope no outlet mall for me. I'm just not a big shopper anymore so that's pretty much on the bottom of my list of things to do. Maybe if it rains?? DH should feel pretty lucky, right?
