Hi Y'all,
I've been lurking, reading all your fun conversations, sorry I haven't commented... I also have my fav's on TV... Biggest Loser is one, the mentalist is good too. Today was my first day that I went really EFGT. I have been so frustrated, ready to jump on almost any method to get the wt. moving down again. But held off till I could see the Dr. & NP. So I went to see what my latest TSH results were yesterday. It has gone back up to 4.95 again. ![]() This time I was lucky & got the Dr (I go to a clinic) that believes in testing the T3 & t4 levels. He offered to test them again, when I asked for the results to take to the Naturopath. However, learning this made the light bulb go off, my constantly changing temperature... hot, then cold, then hot... all day long... is now leaning more toward the "cold, then freezing, then warm"... also losing the "UMPH" in my work-out; a bit of a "down" feeling; & a bit of mental fog... sigh So, here we go again. At least the good Dr is back & the Naturopath is going to put me on natural thyroid, if needed & probably treat the T3 & T4 with whatever they use... Meanwhile, still gotta cut out sweetener & international creamer. This seems to be impossible to me... felt so awful when I did try different kinds of sweet & cream... baby steps I guess. Anyway, had an interesting day without my oats, corn tortilla & oat-bran. And I'm all greased up! ![]() How's the weight-loss going for you??

HI, All--Thank you for the warm welcome! Glad we all love bacon!
![]() I have to also confess to using mayo on just about everything, too. My DD's growing up were revolted by my use of it. I guess that is due to my Indiana upbringing. But I found a healthier version of it, made with olive oil and it actually tastes pretty good. Also love whipped cream, must have cream in my tea as well. Looks like I am in great company here! ![]() I haven't tried to calculate percentages yet, but I think I am in the ballpark. I would guess my protein isn't over 75 g. and my carbs are probably under 60, so the rest must be fat? I am not great with numbers. Debby, I also have low thyroid and have a number of related health problems. I take synthroid, but have also taken amour natural thyroid. There wasn't a big difference for me, but some people have better results with the natural. I am going to try seeing an herbalist/acupuncturist for it. I hope you get good results. Carolyn, did you look to see who Emily chose? I think I have made my pick but want to wait to be surprised. Of course, we don't expect them to stay together whoever she ends up with. I'm sure they all just do it for the fame and money, but I still like it. Especially for the travelogue! ![]() So nice meeting all of you--look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Serena!
![]() I am pretty new here, too, and am still doing some tweaking. We are having some blessed blessed rain this morning. If the sun comes out later we'll be boiling! Hoping for an overcast day... and a great weekend for all. |

Morning!
Gotta run as I have an appointment with Apple to get my Iphone battery checked out. We are going to Aspen. MK, is your DD in any shows there during July that we might check out? Perhaps I could meet her and tell her I "know" her mom! Love hearing from all our new members, sounds like you are doing well and finding your right WOE. |

MK, all my friends are raving about Fifty Shades, you might as well order the other 2, from what they say you will want to read them the minute you finish the first one!

Hi gang..
Debby: Yup, you need thyroid meds for sure..I am on Nature-throid and like it. It is t3/t4 and my "tests" come out great when I take 3 grains.. Went to Farmer's Market and got some baby spaghetti squash..Hmm...they were green and I don't think they were "done" cuz the squash didn't separate it into strands.. We need rain, too..as does the whole of the MidWest, I think... I think the very first SpiderMan was the best..This is a rerun of the first one and it was good, though..We had the 3 D glasses..Wowow..

Debby: You cannot lose weight very easily if your thyroid numbers aren't optimized..Your thyroid controls everything in your body and it is important to have it working right. If a person has a high TSH (to begin with), there is nothing that can "fix" it other than medication..I will take thyroid meds the rest of my life and its fine..and very easy and there are no side effects unless I take too much..LOL..

I read 50 shades of grey and it was ok. Not as good as The Master by Collette Gale. It's a story about the Count of Monte Cristo. I have the 2 sequels to Grey as well but haven't started them yet.
We went to see For Greater Glory and oh wow!!! What an excellent film! A bit emotionally draining but so good. And it's a true story. Very inspiring and thought provoking. Then we went to the Jazz and had oysters. They were sooooo yummy!!!! Our car read 107 on the way home! And here at home it reads 109. We're supposed to be 15 degrees cooler tomorrow. I can't imagine 90 feeling cool but I bet we love it!

Hi
Well, after picking my brain for 3 days over the water-wt gain... (not sure if I told you here or not +4 lbs overnight... with bad back, back's OK now, but still up 2.5 lbs)... I finally found the offending substance! I started drinking a delicious licorice tea the day before the wt. came on... just read on the net that licorice can cause water retention & edema!! I am also taking licorice root that the NP told me to take, so all in all, its too much. I cut to only 1/2 my dose & stopped the tea, will see if its back to normal tomorrow. Been panicking since Wednesday, trying to figure this thing out. I sure hope it goes down quick, so I can focus on getting better instead of obsessing over the edema Hope you're all having a good week-end. We went for an all-day motorcycle ride today... very nice. ![]() |

New!
Hi All!
I've been reading all through the posts and have decided that I am going to try this instead of Atkins. My first 'diet' day will be tomorrow. We leave for vacation on Monday so this will be even more challenging. I'm also planning on doing the Couch to 5k. What's everyone else's experience with exercise? Here's a little history on me... I'm 4'11" and 38 years old. We have four boys (20,19,18 & 12). I recently lost 12 pounds. I have another 10 to lose and am so afraid that I will gain back what I have already lost. Thanks! |

Hi, All--
Welcome, April! I have just started this week, and I love this WOE. I have lost 3 lbs. already, which is a lot for me. I am short, too, so I know how hard it is to lose when the portions are designed for larger folks. But the great thing is this is an easy way to eat out. I just cut down on protein, eat fat, and some low carb veggies. Today I had a small olive oil drizzled omelet w/bacon; salad w/avocado, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese, salmon w/mayo; summer squash, green beans, mushrooms w/lots of butter, and a little halibut w/mayo, and some sf dark chocolate for dessert. And I am not hungry, hooray! That is such a sweet picture, Carolyn. They are a very cute couple. ![]() I hope the midwest weather does cool down soon. My mom and dad and brother live in Indy. I can't believe how hot is has been there. I never saw weather this hot when I lived there. Crops are withering. Hope you all get that rain! |

Debby - I'm glad you figured it out! That can be so frustrating!
April! We're about the same size (I'm 5'0) but i'm a 'tad' older, so you're lucky. You still have a metabolism!! I exercise alot. I've tried just about everything but Crossfit - aerobics, spin, circuit classes, yoga, pilates, . . . right now I'm doing body building. Serena - it's cool this morning!! |

TuscanGirl - Thanks/ I'm hoping... but the scale was up another .5 this morning... so it may take a few days to undo the harm. Morning!
Great picture of the kids Carolyn. I like his hair, does he usually wear it combed back or to the side? Tomorrow I am driving to Austin to see DS and family, Tuesday get my hair done and then back home. My hair is sooo past due. After finding out I was diabetic and being put on the meds I am on for it, I can't eat high fat, and I used to love eating that way. It really makes me sick if I eat much fat now, so I just have to rely on eating small portions to lose and am not doing the best right now. I had gotten below 200 but hovering right above it at the time being. Not motivated enough right now I guess.
