Morning!
Got home from our Colorado trip on Wed. night, lots to do yesterday and lots of errands to run today. Haven't had time to read back through all the past 2 weeks posts but hope everyone is doing great. MK, sorry I missed catching up with you in Aspen, I think you left the day after I arrived. Isn't that the greatest place to be in July? Wow, beautiful and the weather is so great. Didn't lose or gain on vacation and didn't worry about it. Still a little road weary and have yet ANOTHER UTI infection so have contacted a urologist and am waiting to hear when they can get me in, in the meantime the Dr. has called in another antibiotic. Sure hope we can get control of this, the recurring infection and rounds of antibiotics is not good. Have fun on your girls trip Sandy. I am going to Santa Fe this fall to meet up with my sister and her girls for a girls trip to celebrate her birthday. I think girl's trips are the best!!

I thought it had been SO quiet on this board, and for some reason I lost my settings to be notified when there was a new post!
So hello again - hello to new Cajun person and Jess I'm about to try to make waffles. Cindy your coleus is beautiful and Sandy gaining 5 pounds and then saying, "I can lose easily on low carb" just makes me happy reading it. Carolyn I think bacon & eggs for dinner sounds perfect. I am down 12 pounds since my start of June 4 and feeling well, happy and full. I still have no desire to eat off plan, but I have a reunion of sorts with my college friends next weekend that I am sure will involve chips and laughter. Sandy enjoy that lake. Get in it and cool off because WOWZER it is hot in Oklahoma! Buffy darnit, my dd 32 had a UTI for a year. It just kept coming back. I can't even remember which medication was the miracle one but it was constant. So sorry. Serena I hope you feel better, too.

Hi gang...
Judy...wowo...12 pounds since June 4th is wonderful, wonderful...One carb per chip, just remember that..LOL.. It was actually nice for about an hour this morning..Dh left for CT..I took him to the local airport where he and his boss caught the company jet (that they share with another company).. I ate at McD's after dropping dh off..I just order eggs and a sausage patty..But today I asked them to put some cheese on the eggs..So, for 35 cents they put some shredded cheese on top..It was great.. Exercised, Wallmarted (trying an old salad recipe for Sunday night).. |

Make that 13 pounds since June 4th. I am so happy.
I don't know how I'll feel next weekend when I'm surrounded by my friends, but right now I couldn't care less for a chip. I borrowed from the library the Slow Burn book. Am speed-reading my way through it hoping to glean something before having to return it. Love your McD's breakfast. I am more confident about eating out. I think my only foul would be too much protein. Which I can live with. I still don't eat out, but I don't miss it either. I made a low-carb pizza crust with canned, well-drained chicken breast, a Tbsp. of coconut flour and I think 2 eggs - some spices. I'll find the recipe if anyone wants it. It's VERY chicken-y but it was certainly pizza. And since I didn't add cheese to the crust, the 1 cup of mozz on top didn't damage my dh too much. My cute smart 84-yr-old mother is starting to raise her eyebrow wanting to cook and bake again for her daughters. My sister lost 15 pounds right away and is happy with her weight so is maintaining. She brought over some cookies last night for my dh. Then said she just wasn't ready to restart everything she'd thought about eating and cooking. I told her she didn't have to. She's comfortable with Weight Watcher's type eating. Carolyn if my dh went out of town I think I'd spend most of my time cleaning house. HA! |

Hi...
Great on the Slow Burn book..You can do this at home so easily. I just have 5 pound hand weights and 8 pound ones..That is it..Slllloooowwww..I made that chicken crust pizza, but it was a bit dry to me, so I just made an almond flour one when we get in the mood for pizza.. Oh...you can always give the cookies away.. |

Morning!
Judy, doing great, love seeing your progress. Your garden is fantastic Cindy, as always. Carolyn, you will see the 140's soon, you are determined and it will come. MK, you are really on the go this summer, enjoy the beach. I am still trying to get back in the groove since returning, need to go to grocery store, slim pickings around here. Have a few errands to run today and then at 4:00 our casino is having "the ultimate game show" and I have a ticket to be entered in that, kind of fun but only a few are chosen to participate, so chances are slim but you can win anything from a few dollars up to a car, which is usually the grand prize, so why not go??? |

Mary Kay is living my imaginary life - not my real life!
Buffy I would be right next to you for that chance to win - just for fun. Reminds me of the 'blonde' joke where she is praying every night to win the lottery, and begins to whine that she has not won the lottery. God then speaks to her and tells her if she wants His help in winning the lottery, she must buy a ticket. So go! Boy, I am reading more and more articles from cardiologists supporting this way of eating. I guess it will take years to become the norm, just like it took years for low fat to become the norm. It's weird to me that actual science for health sides with the high saturated fat, low to medium protein, low carb diet. But I guess the food industry ($) would have to re-tool and go to great expense to market 'real' food to us. Heck I would gladly buy pizza crusts made the right way. Oh well, time will tell. I have also (maybe coming late to the game) realized I am not shunning flour. I am only avoiding wheat flour and wheat products. I am still able to bake and cook beautiful delicious food - just using different flours and good old butter. Less limiting to me that way. My dh is 60 today and we are having the kids over for dinner, so all day cooking (and all low carb except the brownies which I won't care about). Stay cool - what am I saying? You all ARE the cool kids! Last edited by JMCM1; 07-29-2012 at 08:21 AM.. |

Hi gang..
Oh...we went to the Outer Banks, NC about 15 years ago..Very nice..Sand was hot, though..really hot. Church/picked up a grilled chicken sandwich at McD's and threw away the bun..LOL..I hope my salad is okay..It is cauliflower and radishes, sliced very thin..Italian parsley, with a sour cream/lemon juice/parmesan cheese dressing..It was in my favorite cookbook..The Doubleday Cookbook..from 40 years ago..LOL.. 150 again...hurray.. I listen to Jimmy Moore's podcasts all the time..He has some great doctors on there with lots of information on our way of eating..and heart doctors, too. Hope everyone is okay. |

I'm back!! We had a great time but now it's time to play "catch-up" plus my dad needs groceries so that will be on my agenda today too. Saturday it was 108* down there but we floated all day and managed to stay pretty cool. Long drive but we all enjoyed the visit and are already looking forward to next year.

Judy: You’ll have to let us know how your waffle attempt goes. I have pieced together a “working” recipe this weekend but it still needs a good bit of tweaking. I’ve got some ideas that I’ll try later this week on it. When I nail down a good one I'll make sure to post it. Congrats on the awesome weight loss too!
![]() Carolyn: I love the Slow Burn too, I’m going to the gym again tonight to get in some good weight lifting. I do better with exercise when I have to leave the house to do it. That way I force myself to make the time for it, otherwise I just keep saying to myself that I’ll do it a little later and never get around to it. I hope all the lucky ladies that are taking trips have/had wonderful times and lots of fun! I went out with some friends Saturday night for the first time in quite a while and the first time since going wheat free. But I found out that even completely drunk I won’t eat anything with wheat in it and that did make me pretty happy. The scale is going all over the place as I get my water back to normal but even if I gained a pound or two it was worth it for all the fun we had.

Sandy we had a family reunion at Grand Lake a couple of years ago. It was this hot then, too. The ONLY way I want to be out in this heat is if I'm wet. Somehow, we all got to do everything we wanted, including eat a lot of bad food and laugh and reminisce. Glad you all had such a good time.
MK I guess not having a winter has made the mosquitoes big and tough! 7 miles is quite a long walk, too - how wonderful you are so fit and so well. Carolyn you are so faithful to your church. ![]() Jess I admit I've abandoned my waffle-making temporarily. I may pick it up next week after I get back from a girls weekend in Abilene, TX. I am impressed with your being able to abstain from wheat. It must mean a lot to your body and the way you feel or it would have been more of a struggle. I think wheat is a key puzzle piece for me too. But I'll let you know after my big weekend with friends! ![]() |

Hi gals..
Oh, Mary Kay..I forget to tell you about the "flies/skeeters"..but the water is warmmmmm.. Welcome back, Sandy..Glad you had fun despite the heat.. Jess: You are so funny.. You must be dedicated if even when you are completely drunk, your lips won't touch wheat..LOLI am dead and I need a shower. We packaged up many bags of old books..many bags..and the lady who does prison ministry said she will pick them up..Let's hope she does.. Any Olympic fans here???? |

I'm enjoying the reply of the canoe slalom online right now, I love how crazy hard this stuff looks. It's getting close to bedtime but I may watch a little table tennis too.

I'm still here...
Just wanted to touch base and say hello again. My two books should come in today - yeah! I'm sticking to low carb, mod. protein and high fat. Feeling better every day. My 5 lbs has been bouncing around though, up 1, down 1. I'm not discouraged because I feel so much better, and I know the inches are coming off. Hopefully I can fine tune things a little more with what I'm learning from reading your posts and reading the books! Take care and keep inspiring people. Thanks.

Hi gals,
I'm still traveling (via motorcycle), facing the "traveler's choice" dilemma. But so far, so good. Last night I had to for-go dinner, being over-tired & unable to cook anything in our motel room. Today I had a big lunch, discovered yet another "trick"... I was actually able to order (in a Chinese restaurant) Beef & Broccoli with "no salt or soy sauce" ! Yippee!! It was delicious, and also made from fresh beef. I'm learning... My health has continued to improve, this last week. Heart rate is rising, blood pressure is normal, and no more palpitations or adrenalin rushes! I'm also smaller. So I'm pretty excited to get home & find out how much wt. I've lost. My husband shook his head at me today, as he enjoyed all the buffet... "Said when you're good... you're really, really good...and when you're bad..." All or nothing! I said, can you say... obsessive compulsive? ![]() Hope you all find your "sweet-spot" ![]()
