Hi guys..
I took my Slow Burn DVD to the gym and my friend and I did it..I'm still shaking from muscle exhaustion (sort of), but that is normal. It is an excellent workout..She is stronger than I am and was shaking, too.. Was 153 this morning....Gary is gone, so I'm hoping to be excellent this week..Guess what? He forgot his suitcase..He had so many other things to take for a show he is attending, that it is lying on the bed. I guess I should have gotten up with him..LOL.. Well, he has time to shop this afternoon in BC..and there are always irons in the room.. I'm going to make some SF ice cream. It calls for 1/4 cup of vodka, so I had to make a trip to the liquor store..LOL..We will see how it turns out.

Oh yummy! Carolyn, DH just asked me yesterday if I could make some SF ice cream so I'm anxious to see how yours turns out. How will you freeze it? I don't know if a small batch will freeze right in my ice cream freezer??

NO...Sandy do not make this ice cream..It was horrible and I felt drunk after having a couple of Tbs...I threw it away..all the cream down the garbage disposal..Too much vodka..
I'm going back to my favorite of all time..Scoopable Ice Cream..Let me get the link.My Rich Vanilla Ice Cream (Scoopable!) I leave out the PolyD,and the gum..But do use glycerine, which you can get at a pharmacy..It's food grade..I get mine at Wallies.. Last edited by CarolynF; 06-11-2012 at 07:24 PM.. |

, love that MK. That has been me the past few days, buying things, returning half of them, buying more, returning, etc. I have one thing to return now and I need one candle, then I think I am done. Got a surprise call from DD in NE yesterday and she is driving to TX today to see us! I am so happy she is coming, she is staying until Saturday. Mama, I don't really follow a diet, just hang out here with my friends, so I am not much help to you. ![]() Rain and storms predicted here tonight, hope it is nice while DD is here. DH is having a physical at VA today, will see how he checks out. Oh Carolyn, Gary leaving his suitcase, hope his trip is not a long one so he doesn't have to buy much. Better get busy so I have things done when DD gets here this evening, want to be free from then on to just spend time with her and the other girls.

How exciting Buffy! Enjoy every minute with them.
Carolyn, OH NO!! I hope he didn't have important medicine he needed. And that his trip is short. I broke the 140 ceiling again this a.m. barely. Now if I could just get a couple more pounds off I might be able to "set" my new window permanently. Maybe I can do it this week. |

Hello all
I have been Lurker Lurkerson and am finally introducing myself.
With a question. Here is Romo20350's ice cream, to which Carolyn F thoughtfully linked. My Rich Vanilla Ice Cream (Scoopable!) All right I've been working on this for some time now and here it is. You can cook the mix if you are afraid of raw eggs but I like this recipe because it is quick and easy. One more thing. I try to stay away from recipes that have lots of specialized ingredients but the chemistry of ice cream is so complex that it is so important that all of these ingredients are present. 2 cups heavy cream (13 carbs) 1 cup milk (12 carbs) 2 large eggs (1 carb) 3/4 cup sugar equivalent - 3/8 cup (6 tbsp) granular erythritol, powdered (0 carbs) - 1/8 tsp stevia (0 carbs) - 2 tbsp polyd (Not sure if it's completely nessesary) (3 carbs) 4 tsp glycerine (16 carbs) 1/2 tsp guar or xanthan gum (0 carbs) 2 tsp vanilla (0 carbs) 1. Place the milk, erythritol, and stevia in a saucepan or large measuring cup. While whisking constantly, gradually sprinkle in gum. Heat this mixture in microwave or on stove until erythritol dissolves completely. Refrigerate. 2. Meanwhile, whisk together the eggs and polydextrose until thick and light yellow. 3. Gradually whisk in heavy cream and milk mixture. Stir in vanilla and glycerine. Chill in freezer until cold (about 30 minutes). 4. Process in ice cream maker until it reaches soft serve consistency, scoop into a container and store in freezer. Makes about 1 1/2 quarts at 45 carbs. 3.75 carbs per half cup serving (it is rich and satisfying). --- My question is, do I add 3/4 cup equivalent sweetening IN ADDITION to the following sweeteners listed? (- 3/8 cup (6 tbsp) granular erythritol, powdered (0 carbs) - 1/8 tsp stevia (0 carbs) - 2 tbsp polyd (Not sure if it's completely necessary) (3 carbs) 4 tsp glycerine (16 carbs)) I will leave out the Poly-D for the same reasons you all have stated in other posts. I have glycerine, which I'll reduce to about 2 tsp. after having read the other thread, and possibly 1/16 tsp. xanthan, but do I also add "3/4 cup equivalent sweetener"? Since I've previewed this post I really think the answer is "no" - but please answer anyway. Also, I have powdered erythritol, so would I reduce the amount to around 4 tbsp? Or 3? Thanks in advance. Judy |

Hi everyone..
Judy: It is 3/4 cup of sugar subs..no matter what you use..That list equals 3/4 cup. You know what I do with the sweetners? I put everything together, then taste it..If he needs more SSubs, I add it...You can start with 5 Tbs. on the powdered e, and then add more if needed.. I was 152 this morning and my muscles are soooorrree from my Slow Burn..Maybe I am making muscles for the first time ever. Hope everyone is okay. |

Aaah, thank you. And thanks so much for the starting point on the powdered e. And as no good deed goes unpunished, may I also ask a question regarding the Chocolate Mocha Brownies you posted in May, I think, from the Wheatbelly book. It required artificial sweeteners to equal 1 cup. Do you remember exactly what you used to equal 1 cup? After stalking you all, I think you and I might have similar tastes/issues. Thanks again.

![]() Carolyn - Yay for sore muscles!! Buffy - how fun!! You'll have a great time! Mama - I lost about +/- 20 lbs with EFGT but that was all I really needed to lose. I could lose another 5 if I put my mind to it, but I'm not that motivated right now! ![]() Sandy - did you make ice cream? I walked 2 miles this morning and 5 miles tonight! I actually thought I looked good in the mirror this morning, then I weighed and I was up 1/2 lb! Totally unfair! ![]() |

Morning!
Very early for me, I am not an early riser but my new cleaning lady, I hope anyway that she becomes my cleaning lady, is coming at 7:00 or so this morning. I think her regular day with me if it works out will be a friday but since she couldn't come last friday she is working me in today. Carolyn, you ought to look around for a cleaning lady, it is wonderful, and yes, there is still plenty of cleaning to do if you miss it . I tried keeping it up on my own but with the office work I still have, it was just more than I could keep done, at least the way I wanted it done. DD rolled in around 5:00 yesterday, she made record time, 9 and 1/2 hours, sooooo good to have her here and the time will fly. Especially since I have to share her with her 2 sisters . She is getting up early this morning to go bike riding with DD#2 before DD2 needs to go to work. I still have a few things to do before my party tonight, dinner club at my house, and then the next 2 days we can just do whatever she would like. Sandy, wow, you are doing great on your weight ![]() |

Carolyn, did you put the ice cream into your refrigerator freezer or into a regular ice cream freezer? DH said he'd like some for Father's Day, so maybeeeeee he'll get his wish answered. No promises, lol.

I feel like I’ve been crazy busy for the last few weeks and just haven’t made the time to stop and post. But I think things are starting to calm down, sort of. My BF is having some weird pain in his side, he actually made a doctor’s appointment himself without me pestering the bejeesus out of him so I know he’s hurting. His GP doesn’t think it’s anything that requires emergency action but he wasn’t sure what was up so he referred him to a specialist. Now my BF is freaking out because he’s been very healthy for almost his entire life so he’s only been to a doctor a handful of times and he’s never seen any kind of specialist. I’m sure he’ll be fine but he’s not taking the wait until next week’s appointment very well.
Carolyn: Your ice cream recipe looks great! I think I’ll give that one a try sometime this week. I’ve been trying to make a good LC ice cream for a while but either the flavor is off or it freezes into a rock. Although I did make two different batches that wouldn’t freeze at all. My “ice cream” soup was really surprising, lol! I started to up may weight routine a few weeks ago as well. I found the Power of 10 book for 2 bucks used, I think it’s a knockoff to the Slow Burn book. But I’m cheap so the $2 book was what I got I’ve been liking it so far, I do feel like I am starting to get a little stronger. And I think it’s helping me shrink down a little faster, but the scale number isn’t going down as fast as before. I was able to get my old pants on this week and they were even a smidge loose, three weeks ago they were still tight and I haven’t lost that many pounds since then to make that kind of difference so I think it’s the weights. I’m not sure I’m doing the slow movement thing completely right but I feel good and it seems to be having a beneficial effect so I’m hoping my technique will improve with time.I’ve been in a baking mood lately. I tried making meringues for the first time last night. But I was in a rush this morning so I didn’t check how they turned out. I’ll have a look at them tonight after work. I used to love baking all sorts of things, especially bread, before going LC and I miss the activity of it even if I don’t miss the food. I may wind up making dog biscuits again if I can’t get rid of the baking bug. Sometimes I make a couple hungred dog biscuits and then I just take them down to the animal shelter. It satisfies my desire to bake without eating in excess and it helps puppies. I consider it a win win.

I almost forgot to say welcome to Judy!
I love treats too, ice cream is the best!Lisa: I’m not sure if I can really put a number on how much I have lost on the EFGT plan. I started it in Feb and I’ve lost about 25 pounds since then but I think wheat elimination has been the biggest factor for me and the biggest contributor to my larger losses recently. But upping the fat in my diet made me feel better and less hungry so I think it’s been part of my weight loss too just not as big of a game changer that wheat elimination was. |

Jess, thank you.
Lisa, I started June 4 at 174 pounds. Today (June 13) I am 169.5. This includes my out-of-whack misunderstanding of how much a role calories play in this effort. The absolute joy is in being able to eat fat and being SO satisfied with being able to eat fat. Eliminating wheat is my recent decision and there is so much evidence this will be huge for all of us eventually. I am startled at how well I've been feeling and how easily I've gone through each day, now with fewer calories, but feeling so satisfied. I needed to have some recipes ready for what I knew would be the inevitable wish for sweets and these people have been incredibly generous for years. My dining room table looks like a science classroom with all the netrition items for making sugar-free, wheat-free deliciousness. The science and evidence behind eating higher fat, lower protein, and wheat-free is huge. I am mad I spent 25+ years on the low-fat lie. Besides Barry Groves' book, my sister follows a book by a cardiologist named Gundry. She and I found this independently of each other, but nearly at the same time. Good luck in your search. |

Buffy: Cleaning lady try-out day..Hope this is a match made in heaven... Jess: Slow movement is the best for weights..It is hard, but you don't have to do more than 90 seconds worth for each exercise..Yeah for you. Yeah for you...on the weightloss..JM..Where do you live in OK?? Well, gotta get my food to the older folks.. |

I'm in Kansas too but further north. Suburb of Kansas City area. My sister lives in Broken Arrow though!!
Small world! Carolyn, Sorry, lolol, but was that an old fashioned ice cream freezer or one of those that you freeze the inside container and then turn it on to freeze it. I have the old fashioned kind so I hope that's the one. I did have one of the others but could NEVER get the ice cream to NOT stick to the sides. Even after all your tips. So I took it back. |

Small world!" Well it IS a small world. We worked in Independence for 2 or 3 years. We rented a house there, but went home on the weekends. We have been working from home for a couple of years, but I think fondly of Independence. We were well-treated. We have relatives in Kansas City, too and love that area. Wonderful! |
