We rode the train to Hermann for the wine fest. That train goes on into St. Louis and then comes back through Hermann on the way back to KC. We loved the whole experience of being able to relax, eat and drink and watch the scenery. It's a great day trip!
OK, I think we've narrowed down our car choices to either a Ford Escape or a Honda CR-V. And I think we're leaning towards the Honda after spending 2 full days researching them both. We'll decide tomorrow for sure. Good news for Norman!! yay!!!!

Trains are fun, but I don't think they as cheap as flying..not sure..We took a train from
Elgin to Denver onetime..an overnighter with friends..It was fun. Fun car...Sandy..My friend loves her Honda regular car. |

Sandy - how were the test drives?
Carolyn - DS19 takes the train from our town to Chicago for $22 and I think flying is $35. Not that much of a difference. I just wondered how long it would take him from Chicago to KC and it sounds like quite a long trip! |

Test drives-pretty good. The best riding/driving one was the new one, of course. I think that's the one we'll probably get. Everybody I know who has a Honda loves it and they have great reviews and resale/trade-in values. Now I have to decide on color! I'm leaning towards Basque Red.

Her "case" was someone stealing wire from Spirit Aircraft in Wichita..He was found guilty and he lost his job there..Stupid, huh?
Gorgeous day..Grass is getting long...but the yard is muddy. |

Oh no, I forgot to take a picture of the cake!!!! I'm so sorry MK. It was delicious and a giant hit with everybody. It was a huge cake. I froze the leftover 1/2 for Easter. And this was after all of us had a piece and most everybody took a piece home with them too!! My DD made chicken spiedini with Dreamfields angel hair pasta and caesar salad for my birthday dinner. It was fantastic!!! A keeper recipe for sure and I got it somewhere on LCFs. I think on here they call them "spiedies" and they serve them in a roll, but we just had them on pasta.
We got our new car yesterday. We ended up with a Honda CR-V and so far, we LOVE it!! I'm going to have to be super good eating this week for my "real" birthday this next weekend which starts with lunch with the girls on Friday. Plan, plan, plan!!! |

Sandy: That’s a lovely car! I have a 2002 Honda CR-V that just turned 10 years old and it still drives great and doesn’t cause me any problems. I don’t plan on getting a new one anytime soon but I’ll get another Honda when the time comes.
Cindy: I’m glad Norman’s vet visit had such good results! I remember those longer vet stays with our cat and she was always SO happy to come home she would race inside that cat carrier when it was time to leave the vets, lol. MK: Have fun this week! It’s always nice to have some alone time every now and again. |

Hmmmm, I didn't realize there was a tiramisu recipe on that page? I better go check. And sorry, no tips. I didn't make this; my DD did. I'll try to remember to ask her. I did ask her if it was difficult and she said "no, very easy" so I'm pretty sure we'll be having this again. I'll see if I can find the link from LCFs and put it here for anybody else who would like it.
Thanks Jess. I hope we have as good of luck as you've had. We understand they are very reliable and that's what we're counting on!! Did you have the Honda Care warranty on yours? |

Actually, the poor baby boy crouched low in the back of his carrier, ears back and scared to death. He had no idea what had just happened. And wolfed his dinner down. Poor boy. But he is back with his buddies. I will have to get a pic before next Monday when he and his "brother" go get their hair shaved into a lion cut.

We had the basic warranty that came with the car but we didn't purchase any of the extended warranty options. It really depends on how many miles you plan to put on the car and how hard you drive it. My car is at 140K miles and runs great after 10 years. My mom had a Honda Pilot that she poured 275K miles on in 6 years and then the transmission went so she traded it in for a new Pilot. She is very hard on cars as she works out of state and drives a little over an hour on some rougher country roads. But I only really have city and highway driving so it's much less wear and tear. I do spend a little bit more on maintenance costs now then when the car was newer but I didn't notice much change until it was about 7-8 years old, far past any warranty limits. And even now the maintenance costs are very reasonable. The extended warranty may be worth it if you like the peace of mind factor or you are driving in some rough locations. My family has had 5 Honda's (mine is the oldest) and they have all so far been great.

Yes, Carolyn, I've been to Cozumel and guess where we went????? The beach, lol. And also snorkeling and a jeep tour around the rough side of the island. I'd like to actually vacation there at some point, but hate to leave Vallarta now, since we love it so much.
Jess, thanks for the info. I was able to buy a 7 year/80K mile warranty for a little over $600 so we're happy. One repair bill could cost that easy, plus it's transferable to a new owner. We plan on trading it in again in 5 years so that will be a good selling point. We hope! Yes, Cindy, we need before and after pics!! |

Hi ladies..
1000 calorie LC diet..I was down a little bit yesterday..Keeping track of calories is a good thing for me.. Sandy: We are planning a big beach day in Jamaica....We won't be there very long as the LC cocktail hour starts at 5..So, there is a chocolate factory tour that is supposed to be wonderful for $10..and maybe a trip to the Park/Museum would be fun. Cindy: Dying to see your "boys" after the big haircut.. Hi Mary Kay, Buffy, Jess Bunny, Oriana.. |

Good afternoon ladies!
![]() It's chilly here today. We were in the 60s and 70s last week but it cooled off a good bit, we even had a frost warning this morning. I hope we don't get any frost that could damage the strawberry and peach crops this year. I love the fresh off the farm fruits we get local. Went weightlifting at the gym last night and boy are my arms sore today. I had gotten out of habit of doing my weight training and I can tell I've lost some strength. Gonna have to get back to it. |

Sandy, love the color also. My last 2 cars have been white and I'm ready to change.
We did a lot of yard work the last 2 days. We have put down 3 yards of mulch (2 heaping truck loads) and probably need another 2 yards. Every year I say we are going to pay to have it done and every year I start enthusiastically and half way through, I regret it. My issue is I have so many baby hostas and landscape plant that aren't obvious early on in Spring. I barely let Tom walk through the beds with his size 16's!
