Mom was fairly comatose when I was there today.
The therapist was with her and even he was worried.
Apparently she's not eating much either.

So I spoke with the nurse and she said she'd call me after lunch and after speaking with the doc.

Apparently after lunch she was fine.
Or so they say.

Sigh.

Aren't you sorry you asked!

Hi..

No, I'm not sorry..We always care for each other's loved ones and want to know what's going on. We went through this with Betty..not eating and sleeping a lot. Let's pray your mom will pop out of it. I would like their definition of "Fine"...Hmmm..

My fat percentage went down 2 points. It was measured on one of those handheld things at the gym..It's still not great..and I don't think it is extremely accurate cuz it was 39 percent..Yikes...

Listen to this: Beth's motherinlaw was scheduled for hip replacement yesterday. The surgeon had to put a line in her neck cuz she has bad veins..It took so long that the 32 trays of surgical instruments had been exposed to the air too long, so they rescheduled.
Connie will go in the night before so they can put the line in the night before..Poor thing.

Is she over medicated? That happens a lot. They should check her blood pressure when she is like that. If it is fine, they need to review what "anti-anxiety" meds they are giving her. It is not uncommon for these meds to be increased when they enter a nursing home.

Cindy - I've been wondering that.
She is combative at times so I know she's on something for that too . . .

Nurse Cindy is right again..Nursing homes (via the doctor) tend to overmedicate their patients. One nursing director said they work with the doctors to try to get their residents off as many drugs as they can and their life improves. I think older people don't need as big a dosage as a normal adult, because many times there is less muscle mass..Is that true, Cindy?

Made my Wallie run..did my exercising..doing laundry, then will watch Midsomer on Netflix as I iron..big afternoon..

Hope Buffy and Sandy are having fun in the sun...

Ladies..I have to share this true story I heard with you because I have been laughing to myself all day long..Yesterday I went to a luncheon where there was a Mom's Panel with moms who had kids different ages and the advice they would give for each age..

Anyway, one mom had a 3 year old and Grandma was visiting. Time to go to bed, and Grandma and the little girl share a room. About 2 in the morning the mom wakes up to find her little daughter is standing by the bed. "What's wrong?" the mom asks. The little girl says, "Mommy, I think there is a pig in my room."

Morning gals!

That reminds me of the time Grant, about 2-3 told his mommy that Mema sleeps like a pig, haha.

Got home last night from Phoenix, oh my, what a wonderful fun time we had. It just flew by, we really should have scheduled a couple of more days although I know my Phoenix sister is busy and it probably would have gotten into her schedule of things but we just had the very best time. My BIL's sister also joined us, all of us have known her for years so she fit in like a glove and it was nothing but go, eat, laugh, talk, talk, talk. Will have wonderful memories of this visit. This is now the 2nd time we have gotten my older sister away on a girl's trip and each time she had so much fun that maybe it will be easier next time. She just feels so guilty traveling without her DH. But, it just isn't the same as just the girls getting together.

I came home tired of course but it was so worth it and the weather was just absolutely perfect there. They live on a golf course so sitting on their patio is just a beautiful place to sit, chat and relax. One afternoon I gave everyone facials out on the patio. My toffee was a hit and I have orders to send some to both my sister from Iowa and also my BIL's sister who is also from Iowa. And, on the plane yesterday I came up with a new flavor idea to try this week, will let you know how that one turns out.

Saw a really cute community play one night after eating at a German restaurant.

Carolyn, keep us updated on your new meds. MK, also keep us updated on your Mom, sorry she is not so well. Yes, the nursing homes like their patients medicated and quiet it seems.

I can't take the D meds due to my blood pressure but yes, they are much more effective.

Have a busy week ahead of candy making, have several orders to fill and will go pick up any that is left fromt he boutique on Wed. and see how it did. When I called in once they said it was selling well.

Good to be home but I sure could have stayed longer, love visiting my sis and BIL.

Cindy - yes, I did. Xanax and a bathtub are the latest rumors I read.

Buffy - I'm so glad you had such a good time!

Today is laundry, The Mentalist, and the pantry!

Hi gals..

Glad you liked that little true story..So cute..

Welcome back, Buffy..I think you will be getting some "weather" tomorrow like us..Snow and then rain in the night..We will see how it goes. Glad you had fun..Those special times are such great memories.

Gosh, poor Whitney..Hmmm..Xanax and a bathtub? I'm sure the autopsy will show what happened..Years of drug abuse can affect your heart, I believe..So sad for her little girl..

Oh....2 hours of Downton Abbey tonight...I'm sure they will keep us hanging on...for Season 3.

Morning!

Oh no, I didn't know there was going to be 2 hours of D Abbey last night so my DVR only recorded an hour, so, I got part of each, now I am going to have to search and find both parts. I wondered why it didn't record right. Darn it.

Took yesterday off to rest, didn't even unpack and finished up the first season of Mad Men and got about halfway through the 2nd season, it is very good.

My weight is still down too, have to keep it here and work on chipping off another lb or 2. I didn't have much of an appetite while at my sister's so wasn't tempted to overeat. Although, my oldest sis who is a master pie baker did make one of her beautiful, delicious pies but I just had one small piece the first day and a small slice the 2nd day. She was interested in my candy business, I told her she should sell pies but she says there are lots of good bakers in the rural area she is from. I told her if she lived in my area she could sell tons of them, they are exceptional.

Ok, today back to the real world, unpack, laundry, get caught up on the mail and go get what I need to make the toffee orders I have for this week, plus, I have a new idea to try for a third variety. Will let you know how that one turns out.

So sad about Whitney Houston, what a outstanding voice she had and such a beauty, so sad when they can't get their personal life in line. My kids are going through something very similiar with their stepbrother who is a wonderful young man whom they love, he just can't get out of the depression and mental illness that he suffers from.

Hi..

Oh..Buffy..I hate it when that happens. Maybe you can find it on hulu or watch it on the PBS site..Homemade pies are so rare anymore..I'm sure your sister would be a big hit..
Curious as to your new kind of toffee, let us know..Good for your weight.. I think mental illness is worse than physical illness.. So sad..

Home all day..Dh's car is in the shop, so he had to take my car to work as the truck is like a "pig on ice". Snow stopped..nothing much..just a few inches of the white stuff, but it does look pretty.

Whitney had an outstanding voice....Why do actors/singers take drugs when they have the world by the tail? Maybe it is that culture..So sad.

Dh just called..His '93 Camry is in intensive care..The Toyota peeps said over $2,000 for the rebuilt transmission, but then our local mechanic said he could "try" something that has worked before for $250. So, it's over to his shop now. If it doesn't work, then dh needs another car. Or, we might buy a newer car for me and dh can get my car.

Another American is setting up residence at "Downton Abbey."
ITV and Carnival films announced Monday that Shirley MacLaine is joining the U.K. series for its upcoming third season. The Oscar winner's addition makes her the second American cast member (and character) on the British period drama.

She's set to play Martha Levinson, the American mother of Lady Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern), and joins the cast as they begin shooting the new season next month.

Morning!
Happy Valentines day to all of you my dear friends and for us, both Valentines day and our 30th wedding anniversary! Simply can't believe 30 years has flown by and this is 2nd marriages for both of us. We are going to a nice steak place for dinner, called 2 weeks ago and the only thing they had open was 5:00 pm, but that is ok, we are old folks and will just eat early and have time to digest it before bedtime

Ok, found the episode of Downton that I missed on PBS.org and watched it on my Ipad last night so I am all caught up now. Already looking forward to next season. And, I am almost through the 2nd season of Mad Men, I really enjoy it too, although totally different type of series.

Will let you know about my new variety of toffee if and when it turns out well, I am making it today.

Finished unpacking and have most of the laundry caught up, office is still in dis-array, especially since the cats think they must sit atop the pile of paperwork and scatter it all about.

MK, keep us updated on your Mom, we are all here for you.

My weight still staying down at 208 so hoping to see 207 peek in there one of these mornings.

Well, I need to eat something very light for lunch since we will be going to dinner so early.
