Carolyn, how fun that you'll be cruising with him. I bet you all have some really good food on THAT cruise! When is it again?
MK, good news about your mom! I'm sure you're exhausted. I hope she gets better and gets back settled into her daily routine. You need a break. Try to pamper yourself a little bit today. |

Morning
Thanks for the kind comments on my toffee MK, glad your mom is out of the hospital and you can get back to normal too, congrats on the loss. Rainy day here, sure wish I could curl up and read or watch tv, but alas, too much to do. |

Weird experience at the chiros this morning..Two stranger ladies and me talking about shoes,etc..Both say they bought new shoes for vacation this Sat. Both find out they are going on the same cruise this weekend...and it is the same cruise I am going on May 6th..Weird, huh? Yes, I have never been on a cruise..I get seasick, but I'm hoping for the best. and I have lots of medication.. Yes, we are loving the rain...Visited some shut ins for church.. |

Carolyn, will all the food be low carb on this cruise? Or will they have special buffets set up for the low carbers cruising? Were these gals you met low carbers too? That is a very big coincidence especially since you live in a pretty small town! Maybe they'll become new friends!!

Checking in.
Had to have DH at the VA hospital clear on the other side of Dallas this morning at 8:00 am, so got up at 5:30 and left the house at 6:15. Just got back home and ate lunch, now time to get going on what I need to get done. Wow, Carolyn, that is pretty weird, do do do do. I was worried about getting sick on the cruise even though I don't have a lot of trouble with motion sickness but I had meds along, just in case. Didn't need them though. Got good advice from an experienced cruiser, just put that out of your head that you are going to get seasick, she said a lot of people bring it on by just thinking about it and, when you are in the dining room, or your room the first day or so, don't sit where you are looking out the window and have the sense of moving. Luckily, our cruise was very smooth too. After she told me the first night to "just get that out of your head" I was fine from then on. Well, off to get busy, still feel tired from last trip, and haven't slept well for 3 nights, so maybe tonight will be one of those great sleep nights.

Melatonin helps if your melatonin levels are low. Once you get them up, it doesn't help. It helped me, then it stopped and I read that is pretty normal.
I just made some bran muffins with brown sugar (oh, yes they were good!) but thought about using a brown sugar sub, at least partially on the next batch. I ordered Ideal brown sugar sub. Have any of you tried it? |

Morning!
Ahhh, a good nights sleep, finally after 3 nights of tossing and turning. Yes, I have and do take melatonin and think it does help but I do that some times, will just have 2-3 nights where I can't sleep, then get into a normal sleep pattern again, used to be much worse. After skimming through Wheat Bellies, I have been trying to avoid wheat and guess what, I have dropped a couple of lbs below the stubborn weight my body seems to want to stay at. Will continue to see what happens, I need to get that book back out and really read it, I got it right before the holidays and it kind of got lost in the sugar, I mean shuffle. Have 25 lbs of toffee made up and ready to package for delivery and or shipping. Some small containers to to the boutique my friend owns. I still am giving lots away as samples and to get more people to try it in hopes of getting it in a couple of other places. Will package that today and try to get mostly packed for my trip to Arizona. Tomorrow is busy with a pedicure/nail appt. and delivery and then tomorrow night an event I am going to and also taking some toffee. I fly out pretty early on Tuesday, can't wait for several days with my sisters, it will be so nice and fun and will fly by. Also going to get to see my nephew and his family whom I haven't seen in a few years, they recently moved from Ohio to Arizona which is so nice that they are near my sis now. Need to get a roast in the oven, some for today and some leftovers for DH while I am gone. |

Hi gals..
I have the book Wheat Belly, too..Dr. William Davis is the author and he talks about how today's wheat is not the same as our great grandma's wheat. Wheat breeders have changed the "protein" in wheat to make the yield higher, not even thinking of what would happen when humans ate it. My dh worked with wheat at DeKalb and he said the breeders were always working on wheat to make it bakery friendly, too. They never thought of the problems that it might cause in humans by fooling around with the genes. It is very interesting..Jimmy Moore has a podcast with Dr. Davis that you can listen to to get the gist of the book. It is way more than gluten-free..He said if peeps gave up wheat they wouldn't have many health problems they have today. Buffy: Hoping you sell all your toffee..I know you will have fun in Arizona..Your dh is nice to babysit the cats..LOL Hi to everyone..Sandy..when are you leaving?? Cindy: Thanks for the melatonin update. Yes, I have tried the Ideal sweetener, but I do like to use a tiny bit of molasses and splenda instead..It's cheaper..

I use erythritol and Splenda combined many times for baking. If I need some brown sugar flavor, I use 1 tsp. of molasses.
Yes, the Brown Sugar Splenda is real brown sugar and splenda..Kinda sugary, I think.. Oh...I am hoping Downton Abbey is on tonight..in spite of the Super Bowl. |

Me too Carolyn, need a dose of Downton Abbey. Guess there was a skit on SNL last night but I haven't seen it yet.
Yes, DH loves the cats so doesn't mind babysitting, they babysit him. MK, I would tell you more about Wheat Belly if I could find my copy, I got it right before Christmas, tucked it away somewhere to get back out after the holidays and of course, now, I can't find it. But, it did all make a lot of sense. Right now I am working at just not eating wheat anything, not worrying about the carbs in other foods, we will see. |

Hmmm..murdered? Hopefully, Mr. Bates didn't do it.
Do you think that was really Patrick, the heir? I think Mary should have interviewed him and then she would have known if they were in love...before.. Matthew probably will walk.. I think Jane likes Lord Grantham....just sayin'.. Looks like O'Reilly might be confessing next week to the soap incident last season. Any other comments?? Questions??? |

Morning!
You mean O'Brien? Yeah, she's been a real pain for 2 seasons now! And Thomas . . . sometimes I think he's redeemable and then he does something new . . . . VERY good TV! |

Morning!
I just can't get enough of Downton Abbey, wish we had more great series like that on tv. Yes, Carolyn was very perceptive to think Mrs. Bates might be murdered, and I believe she was, but by whom? Hmmmm Are Thomas and O'Brien connected in any way? At first I thought they were mother and son, now I don't think so but why are they always a smokin and a plottin together, ???? Oh Carolyn, what did you see that made you think O'Brien was going to confess to soap incident? I missed that clue, and I think you have picked up on another subtle thing, Jane seems to have eyes for Lord Grantham. I don't want that Patrick to be the heir, so he probably is, LOL. I think we all wish for Mary and William to get together and be heirs to the Abbey, but won't it be fun to see her marry what's his name and fix up that other big old place with "new" money, yummy! I am also watching the first season of Mad Men on my Ipad, very good series so far, I am almost finished with season one. Will probably finish it on the plane tomorrow. Busy day today with nail and pedicure appts., delivery of toffee and then an event tonight with a friend, not even sure what it is about but it is a charitable type of thing. Also, as I mentioned earlier, in the planning stages of a 50th birthday party for one of my very close friends, she loves Mad Men and that is going to be our theme, so that is why I am watching the series. We have the date set and are going to make it a surprise, I hope. |

Oh, along food lines, I made a roast yesterday, slow cooked all afternoon, it was so good. Just had that and veggies last night for dinner and now enough leftovers for DH to have a couple of times while I am gone.

Hi ladies..
Duh...yes O'Brien, of course...Well, in the promos for next week, we see Mrs. Grantham in bed (looks like she was sick), and O'Brien says, "I have a confession to make".. I don't think Thomas and O'B are related..Remember Thomas was always "after" the men? It is a sophisticated soap opera..Love it... Well, I am afraid to say my scale said 152 this morning..Do I trust you, little scale, you can be deceiving and fickle sometimes.. Talked to Brett briefly way up in CA..They are working 7 days a week..Hopefully, they can get the project done and be home early. I made the cinnamon raisin bread on the RecipeBB..It was very good and easy.. My exercise friend and I noticed that Jillian Michaels is no longer on The Doctors. I think they realized that she wasn't a doctor and shouldn't be giving out medical advice. Can't wait to see One for the Money...Maybe next weekend. |

![]() I agree - Jane and Lord Grantham are both a little chummy! That could be a problem if she hangs around. Thomas and O'Brien just found each other to be kindred spirits ~ not in a good way either! Went to the gym today and then worked on decorations for the Volunteer Appreciation (not sure what to call it . . . not a luncheon, just a couple of hours in the afternoon . . . ) "thingy"! |
