2012!!!!! Here we come.

Buffy45 12-31-2011 10:53 PM

Happy New Year's everyone, still 9 minutes to go but we are home and off to bed. Had a great time with family and friends, 6 of our grandkids were there, only thing that would have made it more perfect is if all our kids and grandkids could have been there.

A friend if picking me up before 10:00 in the morning, Dillard's opens at 10 and 50% off of sale prices throughout the store. Don't need much but will be fun to look around and I do need some Pjs.

CindyCRNA 01-01-2012 07:48 AM

Already subscribed to Oxygen Magazine this morning !! I need to keep this motivation!! Happy New Years Day all!!

RVcook 01-01-2012 09:49 AM

OK...I'm jumping in and giving this plan a go. I ordered Groves latest book and have already started implementing some of the program's guidelines. Can't wait to give it a read since I'm kind of a nutrition geek and am sincerely interested in the science.

I'm not new to LC, just needing to make a change.

TuscanGirl 01-01-2012 12:32 PM

Happy 2012!

We had a nice night, unexpectedly, with both boys and their GF's!
We watched movies, ate hors d'oeuvres, and drank champagne.

Here's to 2012! http://bestsmileys.com/drinking/10.gif

:welcome: to EFGT Donna!!

CarolynF 01-01-2012 12:58 PM

Definitely Happy New Year..:) Welcome, Donna..Nice to see you here.

Lunch was so legal..California Burger with no bun at Braums. We have a get together at 5, so I'm packing up my cherry shortbreads from the freezer and making some wings.

Our closest Dillards is 45 miles away. They have great sales this time of year.

I should make a ticker for my weight loss for 2012..I think Dottie is showing peeps how to do it.

sjl330 01-01-2012 01:28 PM

Sorry I'm late to the party, lol. Happy new year everybody!

Well I ended up with a 2# gain this month. Not too bad with holiday and surgery thrown in. 148.8

So time to start the new year eating right.

DD came over and colored my hair for me. It's a tad dark but will probably fade. They didn't have my usual color so I had to get another that I'd never used.

CindyCRNA 01-01-2012 05:46 PM

Oh, shoot! You kn ow me, forget to weigh on first day! Will do so in the morning!

CarolynF 01-01-2012 06:40 PM

Two pounds isn't bad, Sandy..especially with Christmas and surgery and all that stuff.
Hey, I color my hair every 6 weeks, and I pick different colors cuz I can never remember the one I buy..Sometimes I am redder/or browner..Yes, it does fade.

Cindy: Yup...report for duty tomorrow..LOL.

Gosh, I have to figure out the ticker thing....

TuscanGirl 01-01-2012 06:58 PM

I weighed - it wasn't pretty.

I weigh 5 lbs more than last year at this time but 1.5lbs less than the year before . . . .

We'll just have to make this a good month!

sjl330 01-01-2012 07:54 PM

MK, you started me thinking so I went back and looked at all my weight records. Interesting!

I like 2008 the best! So I think I'll make that my New Year's Goal. Get back to 142 and try to maintain there and try to weigh in at that weight come New Year's Day 2013. You all might need to remind me of this goal throughout the year, ok?

CarolynF 01-02-2012 07:03 AM

Hi ladies..

Gosh..I'm impressed with your recordkeeping, Sandy and MKay, too.

This is my opinion..Each year to maintain our previous year's weight, we have to eat less and exercise more. As we get older, things happen to our bodies and it is harder to keep that weight off..Do you think???

Yup, back to normal today. I had a quest bar and some coffee for breakfast. Easy.
My gym isn't open so I guess I'll start cleaning because ds' gf, Rachel is coming to stay
here for a few days before the Cotton Bowl..

Yup..I would love to get down to 145..:) by May..LOL

sjl330 01-02-2012 08:13 AM

I use Weight Commander so it keeps all my records from the time I started using it. I love that program! I think it's only available as an online program now but I bought the software from him online several years ago and it works like a charm!

I think to maintain our weight as we get older we have to stay active and maintain a good muscle mass. I don't mean working out to the max everyday but just staying active and keeping toned. Like walking, maybe light weights, etc. And of course, not going hog wild with eating. It's all a balancing act and tricky to pull off. I think it takes lots of concentration and attention.

Ok, I think today is the day. We're finally going to see War Horse!! I'll let you all know.

Buffy45 01-02-2012 10:13 AM

Welcome Donna

Shopping at the Dillard's sale was fun, we went to 3 different ones, none of them too far from us. I got DH 3 more tall shirts, got myself a hat, gloves and scarf to take to Colorado this month when I do with DD#3 and her family to help with Bobby and Ava and 5-6 pairs of Pj's. My cousin had told me about them, brand is Sleep Sense and they are in many colors, soft cotten and I thought they were cute. DH not quite so sure on the cute part, he is used to seeing me in nightgowns and at his age, doesn't accept change too well but these will be great to take on our trip and to lounge around the house in at night. I don't usually buy 100% cotton but she says they are great, don't shrink much. I love it when they sneak about 5% of spandex in there. Gosh Carolyn, I guess we are spoiled, you have to drive 45 miles to a Dillard's and we probably have 45 in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, :stars:

Think I will be home today, might slip out for a while but need to get DH to try on the shirts so I know which ones he doesn't want to keep and get things ready for returns. Still no selection of jeans for him, Levi company must be way behind on orders.

Ready to start the new year. Ava's 2nd birthday is next Sat., then I want to go to Austin to see DS and family the next weekend, then I go to Colorado with the kids and early Feb. go to AZ to see my sisters. Starting the year off a running.

Oh, talk about hair color, mine is ugggglllly! Last time my hairdresser just put a rinse on it to help me see if I wanted to ease into gray hair, well, the rinse has rinsed off and nope, not ready yet. DDIL is going to color it when I am in Austin so am more than ready to see what she comes up with, she is the head colorist in their salon so she seems to really know what she is doing. I have total trust in her judgement.

And, during all this, I am supposed to be working on getting packaging for my candy company and that type of thing set up.

Looks like you guys all did great in the weight managment over this past year, I pretty much maintained too, of course that isn't what should happen in my case but I guess I am not ready to work much harder on that yet. Just keep my BS happy and my BP happy, that is pretty much my goal.

RVcook 01-02-2012 10:19 AM

Thank you for the welcome! I am very happy to be here and learn from all of you.

: Your observations are SO on target with what happens to us as we get older. Now mix that with unforeseen health issues and it almost becomes a losing battle...Almost...;)

CarolynF 01-02-2012 01:53 PM

Hi ladies..

Dianne and I are retiring from the Welcome Wagon business..We are turning it over to another lady, hopefully..So, I'm gathering all the stuff and we are having a meeting at McDonalds tomorrow..Call us professional or what?

You know..when I see friends who are my age and were skinny when they were younger and have gained weight, I know it is a day to day battle..If we don't think it is, we are deceived..

Buffy: You are lucky to have a professional colorist in your family. My sisterinlaw does hair and colors, but lives in NH..:(

Hmmm have to look into Weight Commander..

Cleaning like crazy today and ironing...akkk..Luckily the boys went to the farm to shoot and dump some old boards..

CindyCRNA 01-02-2012 02:06 PM

All right, I was 122 this morning, down like 3 pounds!! This can't be correct as my jeans are a bit tight. I think I have layed off on my weight lifting over the holidays and lost mass.

TuscanGirl 01-02-2012 03:33 PM

The day started off really well and slowly went downhill - I just fell into 1/2 a small bag of Chex Mix and a gingerbread cookie!

Wonder if that totally negates the good workout I had this morning! :annoyed:

I'm at 125.4! WHEN did that happen?

I was pretty good until October and then it was all downhill.

OK - tomorrow is another day, right!

DS22 is here with GF and about 10 other friends.
DS19 is out and about somewhere.
I went out to lunch and then back home - it's so cold today!!

When is summer again? http://bestsmileys.com/undersun/5.gif

CarolynF 01-02-2012 04:49 PM

Cindy: I think it is water weight...Keep drinking your water and it will go away.

MK: Chex Mix is of the debil. My goodness..salty/crunchy all rolled into one.

It is cold today...Glad I had my lined gloves on from Santa Claus. Those little knit ones are no good for cold days..The wind blows right through them.

Just like Nature Valley Granola Bars...they are just, plain EVIL!

CarolynF 01-02-2012 05:01 PM

Yes...and Fritos and popcorn are my foods from the debil. It's that crunchy corn combo that I can't resist. So, I avoid them like the plague.

TuscanGirl 01-02-2012 06:51 PM

And Bugles!
I  Bugles!!

CarolynF 01-02-2012 06:53 PM

Oh...Bugles..I forgot about those neat little dipping things..:)

RVcook 01-02-2012 06:54 PM

OK...if you guys remember Bugles...do any of you remember Whistles and Daisies??? Too funny...haven't thought about those 'staples' of my youth in yearrrrrrrrrrs!

sjl330 01-02-2012 08:08 PM

Oh yes, Bugles! That is the food I binged on the night before I joined WW way back in 1972!! They were a new food back then, lol.

I put an app on my phone called ************. So far I really like it except it told me if I continue to eat the way I have been I'll weigh 5# more in 5 weeks time! So I best be changing my ways. As Annie sings, Tomorrow, Tomorrow!!! Tomorrow is The Day!!

I forgot to say Welcome Donna! Nice to have you join us.

Thanks for the welcome Sandy!

My daughter uses ************ on her Android and she is absolutely addicted to using it! She tells me that it really helps her, especially when she is out for dinner so she can make better choices. She is at her lowest weight...EVER and she says it's because she finally started tracking what she eats.

CarolynF 01-02-2012 09:58 PM

Wow..Donna..that is great..

I love your bugle binge before WWers..LOL.

We are watching OSU..I don't think they will win..Too bad, Big 12.

Buffy45 01-02-2012 10:06 PM

Drive by goodnight!!

Returned and exchanged a couple of things today, not done yet.

TuscanGirl 01-03-2012 06:05 AM

I don't remember Whistles and Daisies!

Do tell! :D

sjl330 01-03-2012 07:12 AM

Good morning! I've got a pork butt in the oven, cooking it low and slow for dinner and leftovers this week. It already smells good! Today the party's officially over in our house, lol. Even though I have a lunch date with my gal pals. So I'll have to be creative when I order today and just say no to a margarita.

Carolyn, do you think you'll miss your WW job? I know you must have been very good at it so I hope your replacement does well too. I don't think we even have WW here in the big city anymore?
