Hi girls. Been up since 1:30am at the Emergency Vet Clinic with DC18. (read $$$) She was very confused all day yesterday but we both had been on 24 hour call so I thought maybe she was just disoriented and distressed because no one was home all night but would take her to her own vet if she was not well by Tues morning. She layed on my chest 1 1/2 hours in bed. 2 hours later, I heard her banging around on the walls in the bathroom. Her back end was limp and she was trying to pull herself up but was losing her balance and falling against the wall.

Long story longer, her labs were normal (for her) which leave 2 things: she is dehydrated (they said she was) or she has had a stroke. I pick her up in 2 hours and we head to our regular vet for his opinion. Oh, the heartache of old pets! I will keep you informed.

I'm not the expert, but too much salt ( those pork rinds are killers and bacon/sausage are too) and not enough fat/food! I'd be really hungry on your food!

Carolyn??

Welcome dropping4good!

Yes...I have to agree with MK...could definitely be too much salt! But...I think your fat might be a little low too (hard to tell by your menu.)

Also, your metabolism may be a extra resistant and so it will take EXTRA effort and EXTRA patience to get to your goal. I find both to be true for me since I've barely moved 1 lb. in an entire month...and it is ridiculously frustrating, especially when my calories are right in line.

Good morning everyone.

Oh Cindy...I'm not a vet, but I sure do hope they can figure it out. Ex and I had hunting dogs for years and had to deal with the pain and uncertainty of illness until I just couldn't anymore. After the last one (that I loved dearly) I 'nixed' any future pets...just couldn't do it...nope...

Going to work on building the new storage room today. Nothing fancy, I just have to build a wall, add an outlet and hang a door. I built one last year and I liked it so much, I immediately regretted not making it bigger. Poor DH...he is pretty much clueless when it comes to construction, so he becomes my apprentice whenever I do anything like this. At our house, I'm the 'handy-m'am'...

Waving to everyone

Everybody out the door by 8:30 this morning, last day of skiing.

Oh Cindy, sure hope you get better knees on DC

Going to telluride museum later then back for Ava's nap time

Has been a fun trip but ready to head home to dh and my kitties tomorrow and have some toffee business to take care of.

Sad but not everyone can lose on lc, they get healthier but for some the weight falls off, not for others but worth tweaking

Hi ladies..

Welcome..do a calorie count on all your food. It's best to keep it below 1500 a day for weight loss, I believe. My feelings are the culprit is the pork rinds.
wowowo..

Catch you later..Running late..

Oh, Cindy..Praying for darling kitty.. Old pets can be heartbreakers..I dread the day something happens to Mr. Alex 14..even though he is on kidney meds.

Thank you for all of the kind wishes. My vet did a neurological exam and concluded she has either had a stroke or has a brain tumor but either way, the prognosis is grim. The injury has left her blind and very confused. I have her locked in the bedroom, she skirts along the wall in circles confused. She did eat what I hand fed and is sleeping in her heated bed (only because I put her in it) Tom is at work and I work tomorrow. We will probably put her to sleep this Friday if she makes it that long. She is 18 years and 4 months, a long life for kitty and was very loved.

Oh, Cindy..18 years plus is a good long life for a sweet little kitty. Hard to make those decisions, but it is the right one..Prayers for your comfort during this time..

Donna: I need you down here, Handy Mam, you. I found a good one yesterday and he is coming back tomorrow afternoon to do some foundation work. Dh is hopeless and helpless in that department..

I was up one pound at my gym weigh-in..Those darned chips.

Oh Cindy, I'm so sorry about your dear kitty. She must be so scared too. My Dandy Dog had 2 strokes and the last one the vet said he wouldn't recover from. It's never an easy decision, I know that much. But she's had a wonderful life and you've been a good mama. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

You know I was thinking..It is a good thing that most owners outlive their pets so that the pets are assured of wonderful homes. However, those big parrots can live a very long time and you have to leave them in your will..

? for the veterans

I am a little perplexed. I have been using Ketosticks (during the beginning) to make sure I am keeping low in carbs and not making any mistakes.

Oddly I went negative for 2 or 3 days - but am happily in the low-moderate range again today. I can't figure out at all what I did wrong because I'm counting my carbs and ratios every day and staying at net 20 max.

Does this just happen sometimes? What factors can influence it other than carbs if anything (eg. exercise, TOM, too low fat, other ?).

To Cindy - so sorry to hear about your dear Kitty also.

Kbelle: Sometimes you drink more water than other days and it is important to test first thing in the a.m. It is hard to figure out unless the negative days were days you ate a different kind of carb..say lowcarb tortilla or some fruit. The stix aren't perfect and our hormones can affect them, too.

Well, I must be trying to establish a new set point (I hope) or something. I'd lost down to 142.2 as of early last week and now since then have jumped up and down about 2#. I lose 1/2 then gain it back then lose .2 then gain .6 and back and forth and back and forth. I've been eating very clean!! I really liked seeing that 142 for a change and hope I can get back to it. Preferably before vacation!! OTOH, DH is doing very well now and I'm still supporting him. I have to say if I wasn't supporting him I'd probably have fallen off my little wagon by now.

Kbelle, the stix were never a good indicator for me. Caused me more anxiety than anything. If you know you're eating clean just try to be patient. (i can give good advice, i might need to follow that one myself)
It will come off. It might be sloooowwwww, but you're gaining health continually. We really need to remember that. It can't be ALL about the weight. Especially as we get older.

We had to put Rosemary to sleep Tuesday night. She had a huge seizure while I was in the bathroom taking a bath. I am glad I was there. I called Tom and we met at the Emergency Vets. We both petted her and told her what a good girl she was and how pretty she was and stayed with her while they put her to sleep. My heart is breaking every time I walk into the bedroom as that is where she mostly stayed. We had her cremated.

Hi ladies..

What a sweet baby your Rosemary is. So sorry that this had to happen, Cindy. But, of course, you did the right thing. Sometimes I wish pets would just die in their sleep instead of having to go through the trauma. Hugs and prayers for both of you and your
other DC...

Sandy: Yup, I am a true believer in set points..grumble..But you are doing really well, so stick with it..When is your vacation???

Hi to everyone..

Awww Cindy, so sorry but so glad we have the option now of having the vet help us end their suffering instead of having to let nature take it's course which can prolong the suffering sometimes.

Got home last night, went to bed early, I was really tired by the time I got home. Don't have too much I have to do today, thank heavens, so I can just take my time getting unpacked, doing laundry etc.

Toffee order to get ready later today. We got a big rain while I was gone, badly needed, our lake is almost back to normal, but sunny and pretty out today.

Hi ladies..

Car came back from the shop..Lots done..It runs great.

Kind of a dreary day..I need hot tea and Netflix (Midsomer Murders), and, of course some ironing to justify it.
