Ho-Ho-Holding our Weight Down in December

Thought I'd start this tonight so I don't forget..:)

sjl330 12-01-2011 03:29 AM

Look who's up at the crack of dawn! Not by choice. I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Worry I think. Plus I've been eating really right so I think the high energy phase might have shown up.

Loss for month:
Nov 1 - 152.6
Dec 1 - 146.8
5.8 loss!! I'll take that and another serving too please for Jan. 1. This will be a very hard month for me as I'm sure it will be for all of us. With Santa's help hopefully we can all Ho-Ho-Hold On! Love the name Carolyn.

And yes DH is always in a LOT of pain. He's not a big complainer so when he says he's ready to "do" something, I know it's bad. He's also dealing with a high BP problem that seems to have jumped up from out of nowhere. He's always had really low normal bp and now it's way up! So he's also going for a cardiac/blood pressure evaluation. Whatever that is. But it's with a great cardiology group. He's been there before for routine cardiac stress tests, etc. but not for anything specific. So hopefully they'll find out what's wrong and help him fix it. His Dr told him even losing 10# can make a giant difference in his BP. He's not terrible overweight; just maybe 10#, so he says he's going to try to be stricter on the LC eating too. I hope he can. He has such a sweet tooth but has maintained his current weight forever and has never had a weight problem. His mother had a stroke though when she was only 64 years old and has been in a wheelchair and unable to speak ever since. So he does take it seriously! The Dr told him you tend to follow the mother's history on blood pressure/cardiac problems so that even made him take it more seriously.
Anyway, sorry to start off the month with my worries and concerns, but thanks for listening.

Happy December everybody!

I'm up early because I got hubby's cold and my sinuses are all blocked. yuck.

I travel a lot for my business so I am getting on a plane later today. This will be my first time low-carbing on the road. Here I go!

Hi ladies.

Well, two of Sandy's pounds found me. 154 today..It could have been worse, though

Sandy: I think being in pain is very stressful to the body and might raise his bp..If he hasn't had a problem before, I am sure the doctors can find it..Plus they will probably just give him a pill for that. The back....is another thing..Praying for the doctor's to have wisdom to know what to do and God's hands to guide them..We will pray him through this.

WWoman: Oh dear...colds are not fun at all....You can LC on the road..no bread, no taters, no sugar.

Dh is flying from Alaska to NJ today..LOL..

Went to a brunch this morning..I made Linda Sue's early rise breakfast casserole..Very good..I only used one pound of sausage and eliminated the bacon and the mushrooms..It was a real "keeper".

I found mine at Von Maur, but if you don't have those, I think Target has similar ones.

I told him the routine..Call the insurance, etc...Luckily, Gary and I have 2 cars and the farm pickup, so he can use that to get to work when the car is in the shop...

Glad Brett is OK!!

2 of Sandy's pounds found me too! Aren't we nice to give them such good homes!!

I was upset at 122.8 in November. I'd love that now. I'm 124.6! :annoyed:

My DH is flying home from Tulsa today.

Recipe please for the casserole!!

CarolynF 12-01-2011 03:21 PM

Okay..I'll give you the link for the recipe..It involves cream and cheese so our MK probably can't have any..:(

http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/early_rise_breakfast.html

I used half and half instead of heavy cream and saved some calories..and I didn't put bacon in it or mushrooms..Other than that, it probably tasted the same.

So...Brett called the insurance agency and he said that an adjuster would come out and write him a check. What about going around to 3 places for an estimate?
Oh well, I'm sure it will be fine.

TuscanGirl 12-01-2011 04:50 PM

Carolyn - I have tofu cheese! :D

CarolynF 12-01-2011 04:51 PM

Hmmm..yum, I guess.

It's pretty good!

Actually Cabot Cheese is so sharp that it's lactose free and I could grate some of that!

5.8 loss!!

How the heck does someone do this over Thanksgiving!! That is NOT normal!! I will make you a pie!:hyst:

CarolynF 12-01-2011 06:14 PM

Cindy: Yes, ship her one of your pumpkin/pecan pies.

sjl330 12-01-2011 06:54 PM

Now remember girls, I got stomach flu Thanksgiving night before I even had a chance to eat any dessert! And ended up only having 1 piece of pie the whole entire holiday weekend. This is NOT my normal MO, you all know that about me for sure, lol. Right??? But thanks for the kudos anyway.

I saved that recipe. I've started using Evernote so I save all sorts of stuff now, lol.

webwoman100 12-01-2011 08:37 PM

Ha ha! Congrats on the loss any way that you can get it Sandy!

Well, I did the best I could do while traveling today.

The steak salad I grabbed at the airport for lunch on the plane had a balsamic vinaigrette on it. I didn't even think about that. But it wasn't too drenched but it was sweet.

The hotel has a breakfast buffet in the morning with bacon/eggs, etc. So, I'll be dodging all of the muffins and bagels.

I was down a .lb and my sugars are down so I sure don't want to give back that good news!

There was a dude on the shuttle eating a great big bacon burger and I heard a skinny chic say that she sure wished she had that burger because all she had was "rabbit food" in her purse. LOL!! That's right lady. I know you be starvin! Ha!

So far so good.

CarolynF 12-01-2011 08:39 PM

You go girl...Balsamic isn't of the devil, but it might have had some sugar in it..
Funny about the Rabbit food chick..:) Be safe.

So true! And you actually have some energy!!!:high5:

Sandy - do you like Evernote?

Body building, Lunch out, then to the mall!
A little bit of Christmas panic setting in!

TuscanGirl 12-02-2011 05:53 AM

Oh - has anyone tried the website SayMmm?
Give it a look - it's great for a grocery list!

sjl330 12-02-2011 06:58 AM

Yes MK, I like evernote so far. It's very extensive and I'm still getting used to it. I have a program for lists too called Out of Milk which is very helpful. I'm trying to just find one program I can "do it all" in so I'm not constantly having to look at different programs as I'm out and about. When I have my paper list, it's usually just one list, you know? So still trying to figure it all out and with the busyness of the holidays it might take me awhile.

WWoman, hang in there. Find a bacon cheeseburger and toss the bun. Yum!!That skinny chick can learn a lesson, lol.

Last night was Xmas Cookie Night. It was kind of sad....it's down to just 1 grandchild now. And that's the way it started all those years ago with my first one. But we had a great time. And I only had one cookie and sent ALL the rest home with her. She asked me if I was going to do it with the baby too and I told her "nope, I'm retiring after you graduate high school", lol. His first level grandma will have her traditions with him I'm sure.

Off to lunch with the girls today (danger zone) and then to a jewelry sample sale! Good times!!

CarolynF 12-02-2011 07:44 AM

Hi gals..

Yes, I was wondering how your Grandchild Christmas Cookie Night would be this year.
You will have a special relationship with your little chef as she will have her grandma all to herself..:)

I love burgers with no bun..mayo and lettuce and tomato and bacon..Very yummy..

I'll have to look into those websites.

Gonna start cleaning and get ready for the tree tomorrow..:) With a cat, there are always lots of little hairs all over the place.

CarolynF 12-02-2011 05:11 PM

Akk..I just made 2 batches of M & M cookies for the youth choir for next week..Threw the first pan away because they burned a bit..But, after I turned down the oven and shortened the time, they were perfect..All in the freezer..I did eat about 10 m and m's, though..Oh...so sweeeeet.

TuscanGirl 12-02-2011 07:14 PM

:jumpjoy:

DD27 passed her test and her presentation!!
She'll officially graduate with her Masters!!!

sjl330 12-02-2011 07:50 PM

That's great news MK!!!

webwoman100 12-02-2011 08:10 PM

Wow! That's great MK!

I made it through day one of the conference fairly unscathed. But I'll tell ya it's a carbapalooza around here! I'm dodging dessert bars and bread baskets like crazy. LOL.

webwoman

TuscanGirl 12-03-2011 05:47 AM

I usually fall into a bread basket - especially if it's warm . . . :yummy:

sjl330 12-03-2011 05:58 AM

That's funny MK. For some reason I woke up this a.m. thinking about warm, homemade rolls. Not a great way to start the day, lol.

Or a great way . . . . :D

Just discovered that DS22 will graduate in Milwaukee on the day after DD27 graduates here . . . could be a logistical problem . . . .

CarolynF 12-03-2011 10:48 AM

Hi ladies..

Got our tree and everything is out..I only decorate the livingroom with the tree..Some peeps do the whole house, but not me...

MK: Yeah for dd27..You will do alot of driving..At least it is not the same day...like here KU's grad was the same day as the highschool one..My friend didn't go the KU one..

Webwoman..Carbs are everywhere..Funny thing I didn't notice before I started lowcarbing and watching peeps chow down on the carbs and keeping my mouth shut is a challenge..

KSU is playing ISU today....Think Purple..

sjl330 12-03-2011 06:23 PM

MK, how far apart are the schools? That really might be hard to pull off.

We went to see Descendants tonight. We really liked it, especially all the beautiful Hawaii scenery. We've never been back since 1985 but I sure wouldn't mind it. Then to Outback for steak and salad.

TuscanGirl 12-03-2011 07:44 PM

Sandy - they are about 5 hours apart.
If we can do DD27 on Saturday and then leave and go to DS22's on Saturday night and be there for Sunday . . . . we could do it!

I'd love to go back to Hawaii - especially with this cold weather coming!

webwoman100 12-03-2011 09:43 PM

Well, day two of the conference was interesting. My stupid head cold kept me up last night so I slept through breakfast and grabbed some nuts at the hotel shop.

Lunch was OK. If you could choke down the dried out chicken. Yee gads people! I realize your cooking in bulk but come on!

Dinner was not so good. I couldn't handle the idea of the same "salad" and steamed veggies. So I had some potatoes. sigh.

But I did NOT have the free bags of kettle corn they handed out for the PJ party/evening session. Even though it all smelled divine and people were chomp chomp chomp the whole time around me.

I'll take any victory I can get right now. LOL.
