I was worried about the weight gain, but when he walked in the room, he said i looked really thin! I told him I was doing body building and he didn't worry about the gain at all!!

Phew!

Just DS19 came home.
DS22 is going to his GF's and DD25 will be home for 2 weeks starting Dec 17, so not worth the expense. She's getting together with some other singles and they're making their own Thanksgiving!

But we leave for St Louis tomorrow where DD27 will join us and there will be about 30 at my sis-in-law's!

Happy Thanksgiving my dear LCF friends!

MK, love the picture , very cute.

Carolyn, I know what you mean about being out of the habit of cooking that much, it tires me out too when I do it and I find it doesn't flow easily like it used to, things aren't done at the same time, I forget an ingred until hours later and it suddenly registers why a certain dish didn't taste quite so good, you know!

Cindy and Sandy, hope you also are having a great holiday.

DD and DSIL didn't end up going camping so she and I are taking in a movie this afternoon, I am so glad, I was feeling a little lonely without any of my "babies" around

Recipe please Cindy.

I came down with a 24 hr stomach flu yesterday afternoon about 3 hours after dinner. Ugh! I didn't even have any of the desserts! I started feeling better this afternoon about the same time. A friend of mine, whom I saw Tues came down with it Wed. and it's really going around. I just hope nobody in the family gets it now, especially the baby.

Just got back from dh's brother's new house in Wichita..Very nice, and very tastefully decorated. They also have a great cat.. Nice visit with nephew and his wife on Tday.
Brett left at 4:30 for Rachel's house to go Black Friday shopping..He looked tired when
they stopped for a quick visit...

Oh..Sandy..The tummy flu is NOT fun and to have it at Thanksgiving time..Hope the baby didn't get it..

Recipe, too, please..Maybe I can figure out how to LC it..LOL

Buffy: What movie did you see???

MK: I'm sure you are busy enjoying your kiddos...

Enjoyed seeing Beth and Shawn for Wed. dinner, then made biscuits and gravy for the morning..They were happy..

Back on track tomorrow..I am askeered to weigh myself.

Here it is. Double the sweet potato filling as that what reviewers said they did so I did too. The pecan topping stayed the same. It was the best pie I have ever made. Baked about roughly 75 min.

Good morning..I weighed 157 this morning..Gained about 4 pounds over 2 days..Is that a record or something? I know why I gained, too..But, done with those evil carbs.

....on the other hand, this recipe looks great for non-LCers..Make sure there are alot of peeps there..LOL

Dh gets to go to Alaska this week. He is excited, but doesn't like snow..It's okay.

Might get my real tree today..Since my dad owned a 600 acre tree farm in NH, it's a given in my family. He would be appalled at what we pay for a tree in KS..but it is worth it.

Good Morning!

AKKKK, Cindy, enough with the pictures, , my BS started to rise just looking at that wonderful awesome pie you made, OMG it looks good, but then, I thought, hmmm, sweet potatoes are good sourse of fiber and pecans for protein, perfect pie!!!

Sandy, hope you are all over your bug by now. Par for the course, holiday season always brings the rounds of flu and stomach bugs.

DS called last evening and they had Ollie at the ER, he had been running a fever since Thurs. evening and had a seizure at 4 pm yesterday, scared them to death but seems it was just from the fever, DS did that once as a baby as well.

DD#3 and I went to see Tower Heist, it was really entertaining and funny, we both enjoyed it a lot.

I had no holiday food of any kind and my weight actually was back to 210 this morning, it creeps up to 215 if I get to messing around too much and even got to 217 when I weighed a while back and I have been trying to be better since then. 210 seems to be just where my body resists going lower so we will see if I can work on down a little.

Carolyn, I take it you left Black Friday shopping to Brett and Rachel? I had a friend who was out pick up a toaster oven for a gift for my DS and DDIL while she was at Macy's and I did a little online shopping. DD#3 went out for one item but my stepdaughter who is a true die hard shopper and her mom went out at 9 pm on Thanksgiving evening and was still at it mid-morning on Friday. I can't stand the crowds and worry that some of the "deals" aren't really deals. I shop more and more online every year.

MK, hope you enjoyed and are enjoying your kiddos.

DD#1 is flying in next Thurs. eve so will start getting ready for that, I am so excited to see her and have her here for a couple of days!

Buffy: Oh dear on Ollie..Those high fevers can make babies seize..Glad he is okay..
Yeah for you on the no holiday food.

I went to Michaels and got some yarn..One person in line in front of me..Rachel said
that Target had a 3 hour line..She didn't wait.

Got our tickets for the flight to the LC cruise in May..Leaving from Houston. We were going to use dh's points, but the tix were pretty cheap, so we paid for them..We could drive, but it is 12 hours..

Dh will be 65 on Monday, but we will go out for lunch to celebrate after church tomorrow. He gets to pick..LOL

Saying Hello

Hi Everybody,

I am new again. LOL.

I made an account on this board a few years ago and it remembers me. So it thinks I've been around for a long time.

Anywho, I have been reading a lot and learning.

I've been attempting getting rid of the white carbs for the last couple of days and I am very impressed with how good I feel. My blood sugar numbers are going down which is why I am here. And I have lots of weight to lose. But most importantly I am looking for a new approach to food that I can do for the long term and that will help me feel good! I just want to feel good! I haven't been feeling good for some time now. Diabetes, high bp can take it's toll.

For some reason I am drawn to this whole EFGT idea. It will take some time to get the idea in my head because I feel like the No-Fat Police will bust through the door at any time and take me to jail. LOL.

Anyway, just wanted to drop out of lurkdom and say hello!

They will, actually, you'll need to hide under the bed (for some reason they don't look there!) for 16.5 minutes and then they disappear.

Webwoman!

I have type 2 and high BP as well. Low carb is definitely the way to eat for both of those conditions. I am on metformin and byetta for my type 2 so although they control my BS well, it makes it a little tricky as far as just eating strictly low carb, you can go too low which isn't good either, kind of a balancing act. But, I admit, the byetta works so well that I get lazy in watching carbs, if I couldn't take byetta I would have to be a lot more strict.

Beautiful sun shiny day here in Dallas, not sure what the temp is.

I have our heat set on 69 too Carolyn, usually run it a little higher than that but trying to get used to that and just wear warmer clothes. I like to snuggle up with a throw to watch tv anyway and love to sleep in a cool room, so if it were up to me, it would be set much lower at night but DH grumbles.

Morning!

Cindy, I have never gotten into the Twilight series but I know many people love it, I can't get past the vampire stuff.

Going to DD#3's house tonight to help her decorate for Christmas, try to help make it enjoyable for her, she has another deadline at work that is stressing her to the max. She had better get a great bonus and raise after this past year they have put her through.

DH got our little fiber optic tree down, the wrapping paper, etc. so won't take me long to decorate here . More and more we are going to the kids houses on holidays, they like it that way and to be honest, so do I. I loved the holidays and decorating when I was their age and now it is fun to see them enjoying it. Little Bobby 3 and Ava, almost 2 are at a perfect age for this Christmas, Bobby especially is so excited about their decorations. He has the nativity scene mixed up with the gingerbread village, with Santa and his reindeer running amuk through it all and is just enchanted Ava is loving all the big blowup decorations in peoples yards, they have a choo choo train in theirs and she loves it.

This will be the first year in 20+ years I haven't had Christmas here at home with all my kids, grandkids and my dad. And my mom when she was still with us. So it's going to feel a bit strange for all of us I think. But I'm ready for the change. I just hope my son and his family can adjust to it.

Hi ladies.

Well..the Thanksgiving weight is leaving slowwwlly..

Buffy: So cute about your grandkids..Christmas is so magic to little kiddos..
and I remember those days of anticipation..Gotta get my decorations up, too.

MK: LOL..on the No-Fat Police heading for WWoman's house..I remember feeling so guilty when I first started my plan...

Cindy: My friend loves the Twilight series, too..She also loved Harry Potter..alot.

Sandy: Where are you going for Christmas???

Hey girls..That easy, peasey fudge was a huge hit with my brotherinlaw.
Recipe: One bag of SSweet chips, one can of frosting (chocolate..but not the whipped kind), some walnuts. Heat the chips on low heat in a saucepan, add the frosting off heat and stir until smooth..Add the nuts and pour into a 8 x 8 buttered pan..Cool and cover and refrigerate.

Buffy - that Christmas sounds so happy!!

Sandy - ours will be different this year too - celebrating on Dec 26 instead of the 25th, my mom won't be part of it, not really doing Santa this year, just wrapped presents and stockings . . . . but at least all the kids will be home!!

We're going to DD's house which is only 1 mile away. They have the new grandbaby now and want to start celebrating at their house. That's when we quit going to my parents house too, when we became grandparents. I guess that's normal.
I don't even know if I'll put up a tree!!! Oh my!!

Well, I'll tell ya this...Coke Zero is not my friend. LOL.

Drank some of that at the movies last night and my face lit up like a tomato.
Not to mention my blood sugars. ugh.

I was seriously jonesing for some popcorn last night. Smelled soooo goooood. But I didn't have any! Yay me!

We have rented a beach house on the Oregon Coast for Christmas with a 270 degree view. Or so the flyer says. My family is invited to come and visit. They live in OR. But if they don't come and visit then too bad for them. LOL.

One of those busy days!

Visited mom today.
She really seems to be going downhill and now she might have gout?!
Is that weird?

Lots of errands and a couple of meetings.
AND a mammogram!
