Back from Austin, had a great visit with my little Oliver. He is such a sweet, happy baby, very easy to care for and loves to nap on Mema's lap. DS and DDIL fighting colds or allergies so they weren't feeling the best but so far Ollie hasn't picked anything up. Drove home last night as they forecast rain today and glad I did as I hate to drive in the rain and thankfully, we are getting rain today.
Carolyn, I can't take standing for long periods anymore and like you, don't know how people who still have to work full time can stand it, I feel bad for them. Some seem to love it though, wish I had that stamina. Cindy, your horse is so pretty. Do you ride often? MK, enjoy the kids while they are home, I know you do. Hi Sandy, what are you up to?

Hi all,
I got back late Friday evening and am just now finding time to check all my online stuff. I had a wonderful time and the weather was perfect!! And I weighed the same thing Saturday morning as I did last Saturday morning when I left. Wooohoooo!! My weight last month was 152.2 so pretty much stayed the same. It sounds like you all have stayed busy while I was away. I've got so much to catch up on around here. A lot of which I've been putting off for too long. And I need to get my eating and exercise back on track too. Same old song, same old tune, lol.

Eating lunch out while working is an expense some people never think about and it adds up quickly. I almost always took my lunch, just hated to pay what it cost to eat out, would spend my lunch hour running errands = more time to do other things at night and easier on the pocketbook!
Brett is a smart guy! Glad you are home and had a great time Sandy. |

Hi gals..
Hey, I made some easy tortillas...One cup of egg whites (from the carton) and 3 Tbs. of psyllium husks..Mixed up..Let them sit, then in a small non-stick frying pan pour a couple of Tbs. of the mixture and swirl the pan and flip when done on one side..I got about 6 out of my batch..Going to stuff them with chicken/cheese/cooked bacon and pour some cream of chicken soup over them and bake..Add more cheese on top.. Anyway, visited my little friend who had knee surgery..She is doing okay.. Just wondering about that little baby Lisa..?????

Buffy: You can google Baby Lisa, but basically, in the middle of the night, "someone" breaks into this family's house and steals the 10 month old baby and their 3 cell phones.
Of course, the front door was left unlocked as was the window...Hmmm..??? The boyfriend comes home from work at 4:30 and there is no baby in the crib, the lights are on, and the front door is wide open..???? Hmmmmm..fishy, huh? Gosh, I didn't know that little planes flew to Chicago for a regular airline..Probably he landed at Midway, then can take the L to school..Glad you had a nice visit. |

Another busy catch up day. I did meet friends for lunch though. I promised DH I'd make a good dinner for him tonight and I actually AM!!
No more news on baby Lisa. I hate when things like this happen. Tomorrow is my youngest grandchild's 13th birthday!!! Wow, how time flies!! She's so excited to be a teenager; I'm sure her parents are too, hahaha. |

Morning!
I did hear about that story Carolyn, had forgotten the baby's name. Does sound fishy, hope it isn't another case of the parent's harming the child but these cases don't usually have a good ending. All the mother's I know sleep so lightly that they hear every bump in the night when they have a little one around, or a monitor, etc. Hard to think someone could come in and do all that. Yes, a rotisserie chicken is good for several meals for us too, makes it pretty reasonable when you figure how far it goes. Our Kroger has Nolan Ryan steaks on sale this week, not sure if they are sold outside of TX or not but they are all natural, organic steaks and very very delish. We always stock the freezer when they are on special. $8.99 a lb but each ribeye is enough for DH and and I, so it makes a very good reasonable steak on the grill. Oh, MK, that is a leetle plane, I really don't care to fly in leetle planes but as long as the pilot is good... Wow Sandy, milestone for your DGD. Yes, they love becoming teens but it isn't always so easy on the parents. Grant will be 12 in December and I both love and hate seeing him get so big. Had some more nice rain in the night, love hearing the rain and thunder while sleeping, both Tinker and I stayed in bed late, cause it was raining and felt sooo good. Of course, he is already napping again. |

Turned out sunny here too after our lovely rain.
Can always tell when fall comes, the cats are all more snuggly. Even the outdoor cat spends more time in the shop with DH, was totally wide but now comes when we call him and lets DH touch him a little, although then he will turn around and pop DH's hand with his paw, and even tried to play a little by swatting at DH. He would have made a wonderful housecat if we would have gotten a hold of him as a kitten. He is a tuxedo cat and very handsome. Tinker sleeps at the head of the bed, stretched out just like DH and I, and pretty much takes 1/3 of the bed, not sure how he manages that but he does. |

Morning!
![]() ![]() ![]() Posting here on the day of my 66th birthday! Wow, how can it be? Birthdays have never ever bothered me and sometimes when other people told me how upset they were at turning 40, 50, 60, etc. I would just wonder why it bothered them, it's just a number and we are all so lucky to have each year with our family and friends. Well, this one has bothered me just a little, not too much mind you, just a little. I think it is probably due to losing my dear brother on July 3rd and the past year with him, it all started in September of 2010 and really made me think about the fact that he and my sisters and I were getting older. And, DH and I are both starting to feel the effects of our age some, which for me really hadn't happened that much but now I have days when I do feel older, or older. But, I am just thinking out loud here, or online here I should say, I really do feel blessed to be 66 and still as healthy as I am. I want to say thank you to each of you today for the good times, and laughter and help we share here on our little corner of LC friends, you brighten my days and I love your friendship! Now, off to find a birthday cake to fall face first into, ![]() |

Remember that show Route 66? And the song? I get my kicks on route 66! Enjoy the ride this year as you cruise along on your very own route 66!! You are a doll!! And I love having you as a friend and am very thankful I met you here on LCF's. Now we all have to try to meet up someday in person! I've met Cindy and Carolyn. I think Carolyn has met you. Anybody else??? Have a great birthday evening Buffy!!
Carolyn, road trip tomorrow to Oklahoma! I'll honk as I pass by. If it was just me I'd see if you could meet me somewhere but I'll be with DH and my dad. |
