Welcome back Carolyn. I'll wave as I leave for 3 days, lol. Heading to Wichita with friends to visit a friend. So DH and Bailey will be holding down the fort here.

Welcome to all the newbies. Like MK said, take it one day at a time and don't beat yourself up.

Keysgirl, I like Almond Breeze because it is 40 calories per cup and I am in maintenance and every calorie counts. But I'm not LC so that is a major difference. I should have stated that.

OK, so I read in one recent post on page 5 (sorry for not giving proper koodos) to try one plan and stick with it for 6 weeks. I am going to. I saw a naturopath once who turned me back onto LC about 2 years ago and she said that too. It takes time, especially if you have been doing all this back and forth dieting. Your body will relax and lose as you stabilize into a program. OK.

today I am up one. But I think that is because this diet is so yummy (I was made for cream cheese), I overate yest. I am also doing 2 jobs right now. In 2 days will just have the one and so then will have more energy and time to walk and go for bike rides etc instead of laying in bed recovering during my not at work time.

I am so grateful for all the advice here as I read your posts. I love the sense of community too.

Carolyn, I love a clean house. Good for you. Sandy, have a great trip. MK thanks for the one day at a time advice. Cindy...did you follow EFGT to lose most of your weight and then go to 40/30/30? I am going to have to read your story.

Have a good day everyone!!
PS. I just ordered 4 bottles of Davinici NC syrups. SO excited...marshmallow, carmel, white chocolate, coconut. Yummy!!

Chrissy, Cream cheese will be the downfall. Be careful to limit as it is easy to overeat. I tried EFGT for maintenance as I was at goal weight when I came to the boards. I lost 35 pounds just simple calorie counting but was wanting something easier for maintenance. I am back to calorie counting but manipulated my macros until I felt good. I am higher protein and fat now than when I lost but I feel good. I use ****** to track and keep fat about 30%, protein 30-35% and carbs 30-35%.

Hi gang..

Washing clothes.. Ds has his second interview for the KC/Sabetha job this afternoon.

I totally agree with Cindy..Calories do count..unless you are 18 and on the track team..LOL..

I got my synthroid..now waiting for the cytomel to be ordered..I had to call
my PA's assistant again and left a voicemail..Hopefully, she will call me back..

It is hot here.. When we retire, I need a cooler summer climate..LOL..

Chrissy: Have fun with your syrups..The coconut one sounds very interesting.
I love the eggnog one for Christmas time.

My Alex was very happy to see his mom..My clothes were fur-free for a whole week..even the black pants..LOL

Hey gang,
Welcome to our newbies.
I don't offer diet advice b/c I am here because of my friendships I have built with the gals on this thread, I no longer follow a set diet. I am type 2 diabetic and try to eat to my monitor, my blood sugar readings tell me if I am eating too little or too many carbs. I am not a very good dieter but love this board.

Welcome home Carolyn, I hear you on the no cat hair clothes, LOL. I am so used to checking my clothes and brushing them off before I leave home, being very careful not to lay anything on the bed while getting ready that I find myself doing that in hotel rooms as well and get a nice surprise when yes, my black pants are nice and clean, no cat hair!!! But, we love our little friends so it is worth it.

Sandy, have fun on your trip with friends.

I am doing laundry today too and must, must get to paying bills, I hope I am not late on any. I got that caught up before I went to spend time with DB but I think there are some due now.

Tomorrow I am meeting DD#2 at a play place to play with the 1 and 3 year olds, then will bring Bobby, 3, back home to spend the night. Ava is not quite ready to leave Mommy behind and go off with Mema yet, although it is ok if I come spend the night at her house.

It is hot, hot, hot here. Can't enjoy the outdoors at all, it is hitting 100 at least every day. I don't enjoy summers in TX. But, the rest of the year is worth it.

DB was going to be taken to the Dr. today to see about a feeding tube, he is getting weaker and weaker b/c he isn't getting enough nutrition, I am anxious to see what they find out.

Carolyn, did someone check in on Alex or did he insist he was older enough to babysit himself? Cats can do quite well for extended periods of time if they have food, water, clean litter, etc. And then, they are very glad to see their "people" when they get back.

Listening to "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein, narrated by the dog Enzo, animal lovers will like it. I am working through the list of books that my DD's have dloaded to Itunes so will need some new suggestions soon.

Hey, Buffy..I pay a high school gal very well to come in twice a day for Alex. He is on
2 kinds of medication and it is a bit of an ordeal..The meds go on the food, not down his
throat..LOL..So, it is worth it to me and Alex to have this special friend.

According to Brett's gf, the interview went well today and he should "know" by the middle of July..In the meanwhile, he can be looking at other things in case that job doesn't work out.

Oh..poor Db..Some peeps do well with feeding tubes. He doesn't feel like eating????

Making bone-in chicken breasts on the grill..Saw a youtube..First you brown the chicken
on direct heat, then put it on the other side of the grill with no heat, leaving the direct
heat side on and put down the lid for 40 minutes..We will see...

Chrissy - yep, that was me! And I love DV syrups too.

Buffy - feeding tubes are so hard. I hope he doesn't need it.
I loved that book!

Carolyn - how is dinner going? I love having fur-free clothes ~ but not enough to get rid of my furry friends!

I had a great walk today and a massage.
Salmon for dinner!

Thanks dear friends for thoughts for DB. He can only eat pureed foods and thickened liquids and is losing his appetite for either, getting weaker all the time. I am afraid it is just a means of buying him a little more time. When I was with him we had some serious talks and I found out to my dismay that he is terrified of dying. He interprets some things differently than I do about what happens after death and I am afraid he feels it is the end, so he said he was open to a feeding tube if it would just prolong life a little longer.

I'm 116.16, down a bit since starting the 6 week cure. Yesterday, I drank my shakes, had a LC dinner, then blew it drinking red wine during "The Bachelorette". Still, feel better with the scale moving down. I'm realizing that calories are probably my problem too. This 6 week diet takes most of the guesswork out of it.

Hi skinny gals..

Oh, Buffy, is there a pastor who might be able to talk to him? How sad that is to fear death..My motherinlaw gave up eating, this is part of the process, unfortunately.

Yep, cutting calories is a good thing...congrats on your weight loss..Keys/Chrissy/MKay.

I was down a bit from my caloric-laden vacation, too..

Book Club was this morning..We read Shadow of the Wind..a Spanish book..It was okay.

Yay to all our losers!!

However, I'm not weighing today ~ I had 2 drinks last night at our book club meeting!

Carolyn - Our book was The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. Have you read anything by her? I loved it!

Our next one is supposed to be 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.

Down another pd this morning. This is really working for me. Of course, it might be mostly water, but I don't think so. I can kinda see it in the mirror. I feel leaner. All my kickboxing muscles seem more visible.

Does anyone want to join me doing the six month cure? I know this is EFGT, not Eades, but that forum seems to be dead.

It's pretty easy. The shakes are delicious, and I like not having to stress over the ratios of what I'm consuming. I can only drink 2 shakes per day, not 3. They're so filling to me, but you're allowed 3, then a lc meal. I have my meal for dinner, but it doesn't matter if it's breakfast or lunch.

Carolyn,
You can use any kind of protein shake, as long as it's 3 grams of carbs or less per serving. I'm using Jay Robb because that's what I have, and they're really lc and use stevia instead of splenda, but the Eades don't specify any brand.

The basic shake recipe is: 1-3 scoops of protein powder (depending on your size: under 130:1 scoop, 130-180:2 scoops, and 180:3 scoops); 2 tablespoons heavy cream or coconut milk, 3/4c water. You can also add a raw egg, which keeps you fuller longer and gives you cholesterol.

Some supplements they recommend are leucine (which is already in a lot of protein powders), D-ribose, and Enova oil. I haven't been supplementing, but it may help.

2-3 shakes per day then a very lc carb meal (protein and 1/2 c non-starch vegetable. You're allowed a peice of fruit w/dinner if you want.

This plan is supposed to help you lose that stubborn abdominal fat and visceral fat around your organs that we all get in middle-age. You're not supposed to drink caffeine or alcohol for the first two weeks, but I've cheated on both those and still lost weight.

Good luck with the shakes! I've discovered i need to chew!!

Carolyn - how was the tire shop!

I have a new haircut and then managed to get a new driver's license at the DMV - she even let me check my picture before she printed it - in under 10 minutes!!!

AND I got to change my weight on my driver's license!! I was 125 8 years ago!!

Making dinner for a couple with a new baby. For dessert I just bought those refrigerated cookies that you break apart and bake..Honestly, they are just as good as a homemade cookie..and so easy, peasey..Of course, I didn't taste any..for sure.

Down to 154 this morning..........
