OMG, can we talk cicadas!! We had a ton of them in southern MO. The forest was so deafening. They were all over. Yuck!

Nice rain here today. Thank God because things were suffering in the heat. It got too hot too fast!

Hi ladies..

Time to pack..I'm not ironing before I pack cuz my clothes always need it when I get there..

Whey protein is the best protein..I never heard about hair thinning..LOL..I guess if you only relied on whey for your protein, it might not be a good thing..

We had a gentle rain..looks like we might get more tomorrow..

Leaving on our vacation tomorrow..Yippee...

Yea! I lost a 6th of a pd! It's a start.

****** sure helps. It's hard for me to log everything in, because I usually put chopped veggies into whatever I cook - like, yesterday, I had an crustless asparagus quiche for lunch with mushrooms and onions. They have quiche listed, but I'm sure it's with crust. But the big benefit is just showing me where the carb creep was.

I think carb creep is especially an issue for me since I lean more towards veggie dishes than meat dishes, and they all add up. I can't really afford to have a bunch of nuts or a banana in addition to the veggies.

About the whey, I know it's good, but my gf thinks it should be a complete whey, not an isolate. I did find something about hair thinning with isolates (and my hair does seem thinner). I guess I'll use up these, then try whatever whey powder she's using. But I'd never make it my only protein.

Anyway, just reporting in. Progress!

Tanya

Morning!
I'm on my second cup of Moose Munch coffee (making up for the week!) and taking a slow morning!

I won't be doing anything outside - cicadas are still ruining summer - but I need to clean out the refrigerator, tidy up the bedroom, read a book . . . . I really want a calm, quiet day!

Kerri - these aren't the normal cicadas, these are the fly around like small birds all-day-long ones that only come up every 13 years. You seriously can't walk around without getting pelted by them. Ewwwww

I love the heat and feel totally cheated out of my summer!

Tanya - yay! I'm glad ****** is helping! Figure out how many veggies you normally use and make it a new food, then you can click on it to add it whenever you want. You can put whole recipes in ****** and be able to access the totals later. It's very user-friendly!

Carolyn - you'll have a great time! The high in Green Bay is 74 today!

Sandy - what's up this weekend?

Exactly!
They're under the ground except for a few weeks every 13 or 17 years. They don't even eat for these weeks, just sing, drive us crazy, mate, die, stink, and the larva crawls back into the ground again.

Morning!
It's FABULOUS here because it's 59 and the cicadas are too cold to move!
LOVE IT!!

Nothing planned again today. *happy dance*
So definitely a walk and then some routine cleaning.

They don't bite but they buzz and scare me to death just by living!

I went to the lake all day yesterday with DD and her DH and friends. We all had a great time but I'm pooped today! Hard to keep up with those youngun's, lol.

Off to church this a.m. Have to work a bake sale before and after. I hope I don't buy anything, lol.

Nope!! was strong, lol. DH, DD and her DH went after me and they didn't buy either, so we're safe. Or we thought we were, lol. DH & I ended up at our fav Mexican restaurant for drinks and dinner on the patio b/c it was so nice outside. We're in trouble if they start selling tacos and enchiladas at the bake sales!!!

Wow..I love this cool weather.. It was in the 60's today. Unbelievable...I might have to buy some more warm clothes if WI is cool..

Had dinner with some longtime friends who we hadn't seen in 28 years..Everyone looked great..

It has been a cicada free vacation so far..

Morning!

52 here and the cicadas are frozen!! They love the heat and don't know what to do.
Even just a few cicada-free hours are wonderful!

Kerri - we'll be in Florida at the end of July, so I hope none of them fly south!

Carolyn - Enjoy! And I hope you brought a sweater!!

Sandy - I'm glad you stayed out of trouble!!

Meeting this morning, errands, long walk in the cicada-free park (I'm up to 3 miles) and out on a friend's boat, then dinner with our favorite priest who's leaving!

Hey All,

Those cicadas sound awful! What a miserable existence too. Bad karma to come back as cicada.

Still losing! I got the book, "Natural Health and Weight Loss". What a great read. Amazing how wrong the doctors and nutritionists have it.

I'm so psyched about getting past the stall!

Hi gang,
I am still around, but so tired right now.

The last time I posted I was leaving for Austin to take care of my little Oliver for a couple of days and I did and it was so wonderful, but then got word that my brother had fallen twice in the nursing home and wasn't doing well and both my sister's thought I should come to see him. So, on Sun. the 5th I drove home from Austin, did a little laundry, packed more clothes and my meds and headed for Maryville, MO where he was in the nursing home. Got to KC Mon. night, spent the night and drove to the nursing home Tues. morning. He was terrible and nursing home was trying to bully SIL and my niece into keeping him there but finally my niece had to start yelling at them to get them to call an ambulance and take him to the hospital. Got him to the ER and he was on the verge of death, full of infection and dehydrated. They got him on IV's and by morning he had turned the corner and survived but I stayed with him all week. He is holding his own and was moved to a new nursing home today. They will do some physical therapy but not sure how far he will come out of this at this time. I feel like we just bought him a little more time and he isn't ready to let go yet, and now he is closer to home so I hope what time he has left can be happy for him. WE got to talk a lot and he was very happy I was there, it was hard to leave him but by then I was running out of meds, had been gone from home 11 days and was exhausted so I drove home yesterday. I feel like a zombie today.

Will catch up on all your posts soon, I hope you are all doing well.

Hugs all around!!!

Oh Buffy!!!
I'm glad you were there and helped him!!

I got a phone call yesterday morning and my mom had a heart attack.
They put in a stent and she seems to be recovering.
It's amazing how one phone call can change everything.
It's going to be a long week.

So sorry to hear about your mom MK, she has been through a lot too. I saw on FB that you were looking for a nursing home, good luck with that, it is hard. The one they took my brother too is where my great nephew, a RN, works so I feel good about him being there to check on him more often. Right now my brother can't even feed himself so someone is staying with him almost all the time.

Welcome Tanya and Kerri. I am going to look that book up Tanya, sounds like good info. I feel like they have had it all wrong since the low fat craze hit and people started gorging on carbs to try to feel satisfied. It has been a downward spiral since then. My diabetic doctor just lost 62 lbs on high protein, low carb if that tells you that things are a changing.

Cindy, how are your beautiful flowers and plants doing with all the rain you guys have had, wow, driving up and around the midwest, things are soooo green and plush.

Sandy, see you are up to your summer water fun things that you enjoy so much.

Carolyn, where are you going with Gary? Is this vacation or one of his work trips? And see Brett is still interviewing, wishing him the best on that.

Woke up normal time this morning so hopefully I have caught up on my rest. The triplets are coming this afternoon to stay until Thurs. night so I have to have some energy to keep up with them. Need to run to the store before they come to get some things they will like.

Checking in from the North Country..

Oh dears..Sending prayers to Buffy's brother and MKay's mom..Glad they are both turning the corner, but what a scare..

I hope you rest up Buffy and Mary Kay needs extra strength for the week..Hopefully, they will keep her in the hospital until she is strong enough to leave..

We are having fun...on a happier note. I'm not sticking to my plan..True confession time.
I'm not totally off of it, but once in a while when they serve cherry pie that is included in the price of the meal, I eat it..LOL..Cherries are a big deal up here in the nort' country.

Heading to Washington Island tomorrow..Taking a boat ferry and will drive around.
Honestly, the beaches here are lovely..water is soooo clear and clean..No big waves, but
it's the lake...

Hi to everyone..

Hi gang..

Back on plan today..There is a marvelous coffee place across the street from our motel..
Delicious coffee..and real 1/2 and 1/2..LOL.

I'm taking my dramamine for the boat ride this morning..It's only 20 minutes, but my tummy
is really funny sometimes.

Have a great day, lady friends..

Morning!

Carolyn - I'm glad you're having fun!! And the cherries are fabulous! Enjoy!!!

Mom was very frustrating yesterday - we were both agitating each other so I left.
The most wonderful DH in the world is going over today so I get a day off.
Between the big storms last night and weird dreams, I need a day to chill.
I was so exhausted that I didn't even eat dinner last night and I was in bed by 8:30.
